  • Thanks it's very clear. However I don't see this trinity of styles as sufficient to do justice to our brains & senses.Education is not invented to liberate us from dogma, but to make us economically suitable.Learning is so essential that models should fade away regularly.Neuropsychology is very interesting as is plasma ( 4th state of matter ), ectoplasm,bio-fotons, etc..Life is a marvel, but the system ( outdated thought patterns) wants us to be someone we aren't.Learn to feel intuition is ignored.

  • I'm a mixed learner, it's very hard even to me which method is better for me. It depends from cases.

  • The reason "learning styles" such as the examples in this video (auditory, visual and kinesthenic) are not as useful in the classroom as we might hope is due to the fact that we as teachers do not test students on pictures, sounds or process. We mainly test on meaning.

  • Can you be all three ? ,

  • @StevenEvans1988 Most people are all three but are stronger in some and weaker in others. I, for example, am an auditory learner, but I also learn visually.

  • I think learning styls exists but no one is spicifically tied to one group.

I am mostly tactile (the lighter side of kinesthetic) my self. However, I can learn by audio and visual but it takes me longer to get the point unless I have alot of interest. I find that my strongest learning method is by doing the task my self. Most things that I touch I will have almost a photographic memory of instantly. If I read something or listen to someone yammer on it will require several attempts to remember.

  • well im every thing i must do every thing in that list i must be a balanced type of guy

flexible, transforming, shapeshifting, and teleporting that seems right.

  • i'm more of a visual person. but i never really used highlights that often.

  • Awful sound quality

  • The results of valid, empirical observations of the effects of learning styles on student learning are clear: they have no, or sometimes harmful effects on learning. I think that folks behave unethically when they take peoples time and/or money and dont provide any evidence that an investment in learning styles is a just use of scarce school resources.

So Id challenge the person in this video, Do you have any evidence?

  • Really? Are you really trying to find evidence?

  • I'm trying to find which aspects of teaching/learning make a real difference to my students. I'm trying to learn what the best evidence says because I think students deserve it. It doesn't matter what I want to be valid, or what makes sense to me. All I care about is what is supported by science because it's the best way to learn about the world. Its not perfect, but there is nothing better. Think of the scientific advances in medicine, engineering, etc... Our students deserve the same.

  • Well structured

  • bullshit

  • I am considering using this video with my class on study skills. I definitely believe in learning styles.

  • This is the main problem of Learning styles: As a theory of learning it assumes that you can distinguish between how you learn and what you learn. Knowing something and being able to use that knowledge is not the same thing. You become good at discussing something by discussing it and you become good at seeing something by seeing it, and there is no difference what so ever in this for any of us.

  • Awesome. Helped a lot!

  • Not bad not bad. It could be better.

  • Great video helped me with my coursework alot

  • No it missguided you. There is no tests that has ever shown that the theory of learning styles has any effect at all on your ability to learn. Its a theory that might sound as if it was right, but it is not. Maybe see the video "Learning Styles Don't Exist" for a different view on this.

  • well done! your voice is even suited for a teacher :)

  • Very Good

  • A brief overview of VAK learning styles
