  • Seems like you have a youtuber behind you on the computer. Is the kiddo watching your videos? lol j/k!

  • Hi, It seems your head is bobbing up and down in your swing. Is this not an issue ? Is this the stack and tilt method ? Thank you for your efforts Shawn...

  • Cant stop focusing on his right leg

  • shawn, you know what your saying good tip

  • hahahaha lil kid in the background playing on the computer :p

  • Wow, whats up with all the 'haters'? There are many swing styles, but they're just that - style. Clement produces quite a bit of clubhead speed (hear the 'whoosh' after the ball?) with minimal effort, the latter meaning his swing is -quite- repeatable. Apologies to Mr Hogan, but his '5 lessons' swing too aggressive for most amateurs and those of us that entered the game later in life. Shawn's swing reminds me of Iron Byron Nelson's, who also had the 'bob' momentum move - pretty good company?

  • Thank you very much for the educated comment sir!

    Shawn

  • Hello clemshaw If u can help me please read this

    Whenever i hit the ball it vibrates really hard then hurts my hand then hand hurts for like 2 days?

    The swing and the club is fine?

    iron 7 :)

    Thank you if you can.

  • This just means that you are not hitting the ball in the center of the club face; to achieve this, you need to focus on how the sole of the club is going to deflect across the ground on the way to the target; see "golf pro lesson distance to ball part 2" as well as "golf pro lesson stop topping and get better divots"; thank you for your question!

    Shawn

  • Hey Shawn

    Great videos...

    I have a problem repeating my practice swing

    When I get to the ball, I hit a fat shot or slice the ball, almost every time.

    Could this be caused by having the ball to forward in my stance?

    And having my focus on hitting the ball, rather than sending momentum to the target?

    At address, I have my hands forward, similar to impact position. Is this wrong?

    Thanks...

    Michael

  • Hey Michael;

    Just make sure you allow your arm-club unit to hang from the shoulder sockets at address so you can FELL THEIR WEIGHT! This way, your body can react to this weight and you want to feel that you are sending this heavy momentum towards the target in a heavy swatting motion; see "golf pro lesson timing and tempo update" and "golf pro lesson tilted spiral part 1, 2 and 3"! Shawn

  • Oh my goodness just watched another one of these. Your right leg is a super reverse pivot. You are way out of sink on the backswing. You do some weird move to complete the backswing, it is all hands. You are not synchronized at all. Your 1st move down is across the line and out of plane. Than your action though the ball, is an up move in which your hands are in control which makes any kind of body turn through the ball not possible. Under pressure, I can't see this swing working.

  • Whoa hyno! Why so excited? I guess you never saw the likes of Bobby Jones or Jack Nicklaus or even Miller Barber for that matter...too bad because you are missing out on some really good stuff the golf industry should have been focused on in the first place; you can have your perception of swing plane and your very distorted view of a reverse pivot; this is obviously way too advanced for you so you go on your way now; Shawn

  • that little jerk you do before the backswing.. is that something every swing should have or is it specific to this type of old school swing?

  • Hey SDRE! This is a very specific timing mechanism that EVERYBODY USES IN ALL TYPES OF ACTIVITIES; tennis serve...forward then back then serve; violin...swaying of the head and rocking of the arm before the strings get stoked; baseball pitcher getting in motion...need I say more? Old School swing you say? More like the new swing took a bad turn while we should have continued to polish the existing one! :) Thanks for posting though! Shawn

  • Hi Kay;

    Thank you for writing; I am sorry about your instructor, he is missing out on a lot of rewards! I do recommend you get the dvd though as it has all the important info in priority sequence so that you do not miss anything important; you will understand much more of the videos on you tube that complement the dvd and vice versa;

    All the very best to you! Shawn

  • excuse me shawn,

    my names hank and im 14 and consistntly shoot in the 70's but i almost always push the ball, my coach says i have a great swing and that my plane is perfect and my grip is fine and everything else is just fine. do have any tips that you could give me to stop this.

    thanx

  • Shawn, I recently saw a video on youtube by Leadbetter about Ball Position. (Search Leadbetter Ball Position).

    He mentions play the ball at the position at about your left armpit. Jack Nicklaus also mentions playing it off your left foot.

    I am curious about your thoughts. I have watched all your videos and have your DVD. Thanks!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Hey Man; sorry for the delay;

    I am truly changing my tune on ball position; the videos I want you to watch are the "Golf Pro Lesson Be a solid Ball striker" and the "Golf Pro lesson Tilted Spiral" part 1, 2 and 3; especially 3!! This is a huge deal and will explain why Jack's back and left hip were blown to bits with that ball position! Shawn

  • Do you mean you think differently or are teaching something different about ball position now than you used to? Not a criticism. Just trying to understand your comment. Your instruction has helped me tremendously.

  • This is what is so great about the game; you learn everyday and every time you go out if you have the awareness to the movements you are trying to make; when you look at my "Golf Pro lesson Tilted spiral" part 1, 2 and 3 series, you will see in #3 that you have many more options that you might think; bottom line, to hit a straight draw, your ball position should be center to very slightly back of center; for the straight fade, you play the ball just forward of center; Shawn

  • Simply the best video clip. I love all of your valuable lessons on Youtube.

  • Giday Shawn,

    Today I took my video camera to the driving range and filmed myself. I have to say I 'hit like a girl'. My set-up is good and that's about all, after that it's bent arms all the way with more shoulder turn than hips and body. The momentum of the club seems to be the same thoughout the swing which is more like a swishing motion than a zing and snap motion. How can I achieve better momentum through the ball. Is it timing or do I need to do some strength exercises.

    Rosie

  • Hi Rosie;

    Try sending me a video of your swing; I will take a look and let you know; the "Golf Pro Lesson Student swing analysis" part 1 and 2 should do the trick while you are waiting; also see the "Golf Pro Lesson Left arm Straight?" video for more insight on that; Shawn

  • Good video again shawn. Do you enjoy teaching more than playing competitively?

  • I would have to say that I enjoy and love them both tremendously and the same amount; it is like saying do you love one kid more than the other...:) In my world, one completes the other and vice versa;

    Great Question! Shawn

  • Shawn, great vid. I get essentially get this, but how do you determine during a practice swing that your momentum is going in the correct direction at the moment of impact when you're hitting, for example, a driver? Or a long iron or hybrid v. a wedge? Do you see what I'm saying? This method seems to imply that you should find one good ball placement front to back and stick with it, no?

  • Have a look at the "Alignment Tweak" video to get a sense of using an intermediate point to send the momentum; then this video is to use the extreme ball positions to relay the message to the brain as to how impossible it would be to repeat the practice swing; if you have the ball slightly back and use the push draw or slightly forward to use the pull fade, it would still work in the repetition of that practice swing; as long as you feel that you can pull the shot off without hesitation! :)

  • thanks, awesome video, as usual shawn :)
