  • salute Nino Rota!

  • UNA BELLISMA PELÍCULA, REALMENTE MARAVILLOSA.

  • The actress Masina who plays the girl was married to Fellini the director, and died in her 70's, just 5 months after her husband and requested that this song be played at her funeral.

  • A la memoria de Nino Rota en su centenario ..... 3 dic 1911 - 3 dic 2011

  • I love this film so much, one of my all time favourites (my most watched Fellini's film), strangely it remainds me on Ikiru somehow and also on Der Blaue Engel. I love philosophical existential films.

  • I never paid much attention to Richard Basehart before this movie. I had a hard time believing my eyes and ears. I know he's dubbed, but such a good performance. Anthony Quinn is good in this too... American cinema didn't get this kind of acting out of these two guys.

  • Felini was married to masima...great movie, but not the dubbed version.

  • @fromtelaviv indeed

  • Harpo Marx?

  • Fabulous clip! Thanks for posting.

  • Magique, merveilleux, j'en pleure presque...

  • Everything in this is a masterpiece: the soundtrack, the acting, the whole film. Magical.

  • "Zampano is here !"

  • Magic music

  • Thanks Kostas for this sharing too... just great!!

    Good night...Judie

  • Fellini wasn't just an ordinary man, but a creative force....

I can't think of a director, writer, or anyone for the matter that said more about the human condition than he did. This film is haunting and brings chills to my spine....

  • I love this movie... one of the greatest! It's too sad that... this kind of movies are not produced anymore... I mean the drama... Now... all movies is about sex... those days are gone ):

  • Great movie. Great actress...Giulietta Masina !

Nino Roti's score is just superb, inspiring sensitivity to the scenes.

It is art the old fashion way...Italian, Fellini style.

Films like this ( and "Nights of Cabiria" ) rarely come around anymore.

I am glad I saw them when I was a young man.

  • Shame the image is stretched horizontally!

  • one of the greatest of all time

    I deeply appreciate your work

  • oh man the last scene when zampano realizes he's on the beach and thinks of gelsomina....and breaks down gets me every time <3

  • This is REAL ART!!! Amazing music, Amazing MOVIE, AMAZING PEOPLE. This is something forever.

  • Beautiful theme music.

  • sooo cool...

  • One of the most beautiful and heartbreaking movies I've ever seen.

  • it must be Gelsomina's tune. She's the one who plays it on her trumpet.

The 'road' song is awfully moving also.

  • Chi è il Trombettista?

  • 5 *****

  • as much as i love La Strada, his b+w films didn't look as good as Antonioni's and De Sica's in my view.

there is no carnival without colour, if you get my drift, and Fellini was the master of both.

  • In the 2010 Olympics Men's Figure Skating, Takahashi fought back after falling on his opening quadruple jump to complete his routine to Nino Rota's La Strada cleanly, scoring 247.23 overall.

The four-time Japanese champion was delighted at his bronze after returning following injury last season.

  • Love the theme music...wonder if it has a title, etc....anyone know? Melancolia un po...Antonia D.I. from Montréal, Canada, Buon anno nuovo tutti quanti.

  • Love Theme (from La Strada)

  • Thanks,,, Ccvanl - cos I didn't see the movie...by the clips I saw didn't get the impression it was a love story but I guess it was epiphany style huh, today by the way....mille mercis de Saint Léonard.

  • @Ccvanl little question . I wonder if the entire plot uses the circus as a setting .Please help

  • Google La Strada movie plot and you know everything.

  • @Ccvanl Anthony Quinn is the strongman who is rather abusive to his performing wife, played by Juliet Messina, Fellini's wife in real life.

  • @cannoir No. "La Strada" means "the road," and the majority of the film takes place on the road and Zampano's truck. Only the last fourth (or so) of the film takes place at a traveling circus. All of the main characters end up leaving it anyways though...

  • @cannoir for short: no

    :D

  • I saw this 2 years ago, when I was in my first year of college. There was a prank fire alarm at my residence.. but I stayed in and watch this movie through while I could've died!

Not my fav (sorry) movie, but great nonetheless.

  • Great story!

  • Beautiful.

  • "my dog died over there"-the classic Fellini parade-the little boy with the genetic abnormalities shut away from the rest of the world-those little twists of eeriness are the definition of "Fellini-esque"

  • Brilliant synchronization of music with images, especially the scene with the trumpet.

  • I totally agree

  • Beautiful... One of my all time favorites. Thanks for posting.

  • I've studied this movie, and translated its subtitles to my Arabic language.

    It was a wonderful experience.

  • Greetings, Cc! The lively cascade of notes in this overture was a great Saturday morning eye-opener and motivator; but then the tune becomes bittersweet - and then it evokes great sadness to the soul. I have never seen this Fellini classic, but you have instilled the desire for me to procure it. Thank you, Cc, for introducing this to me.

  • Before I exited this screen, a Brazilian friend phoned, and I asked him about this film. He highly recommended that I watch it, and he also recommended an Italian film called Il Sorpasso by Dino Risi, a close friend of Fellini. I am so grateful to you and folks from other nations "introducing me to the world."

  • I also reccomend "8 1/2" and "Macaroni", Francois Truffaut's "Breathless", and the original black and white, not the colorized version of "The Night Of the Living Dead"

  • Godard, not Truffaut-thank you JK-my bad-I also reccomend "Kiss Me Deadly" starring ralph Meeker as Mike Hammer, "The Postman Always Rings Twice" with John Garfield and Lana Turner, "Key Largo" with Bogart and Eddie Robinson,Lionel Barrymore Lauren Bacall, Jay Silverheels in a minor role,"Hud", "Shane" both starring Brandon DeWilde,"Of Mice and Men" starring Burgess Meredith and Lon Chaney Jr-Chaney is one of my favorite actors of all times, the guy was brilliant
