To all the haters of Michigan, you can all just get out, sure Detroit isn't the best city but if you went to northern Michigan like Clare or Mackinaw city to see the bridge or even just Marquette and the kewanna punisula in the u.p you would see how beautiful Michigan really is.
Except for subs of Detroit and flint Michigan is one of the nicest county Oakland some of the safest cities in the us and one of the biggest townships in the us
@thetwenty0ne Ahhh, I live in Troy. $10,000.00 a year in property taxes so that they can cut the police force, cut the (volunteer!) fire department, layoff and outsource city workers, close the library, close the nature center, close the museum, sell the community center, and the teachers just had to take concessions. Now that A.H. snyder wants to take my pension and give it to big business. Yeah, what a great place to live.
@Pro1er If you have 10,000 a year in property taxes and your school district is Lamphere (highest millage in Troy) You home is assessed to be worth ~460,000 with millage in 2009 of 43.51 to equal ~10,000 annual property tax bill. If your are in warren schools you are in 600,000 home... Yeah you are hurting, Michigan has treated you very poorly
@Pro1er Hey moron. Maybe before complaining about your taxes you should learn that it goes to local government. You are blaming the wrong level of government. If my house gets broken into, will I call President Obama or the FBI? NO!!! If you are a teacher you are the exact reason why our state fails. Low educated people who don't know who to accuse when something goes wrong in government. "Vote Obama, Republicans hate government and we need a police force." you make me sick!
Highest crime in the Nation the top 2 cities Detroit and Flint are in the 10 TEN every year for the last 30....High TAXES....and Rick Snyder... welfare man for Business. Stay out of Michigan it has a lot of problems...
@6977leeon You obviously have not been to Detroit's suburbs... Troy is always within the top 10 safest cities in the country, and Oakland County is one of the nicest in the whole United States.
Nobody destroys jobs, businesses better and faster, than Michigan. Why? Taxation, regulation, litigation, socialism, unions, corporate dedication to inflexibility... The solution? Cut taxation, regulation, reform, right to work, be friendly to entrepreneurs and small business, get some politicians with character... I know, I know. But I can dream right?
I love how it says "11 million acres of unspoiled wilderness, and the world's longest freshwater coastline give us plenty of room to grow." Message: we'll ruin our natural resources, just PLEASE MOVE HERE! I left Michigan because it offered no opportunities for my occupational growth. Memories of my childhood and the great things about Michigan listed in this ad make me nostalgic, but they don't make me want to move back. I know what's up but, more importantly, I know what's down. Michigan.
We don't have the #1 public university. I've looked on 10+ websites (and searched different years) and University of Michigan's highest rank was #4 in 2010.
We were the iconic 20th century state and because of that success and singular focus we were the canary that was sent headfirst into the mine of the new economy. I welcome 21st century Michigan!! Let's be the first state to really welcome the future and quit lamenting the past. Excellent campaign. Great content, tone and message.
Nice video but we are a Michigan based business that can create up to 1000 jobs both at our plant and in our supplier market. MEDC has been zero help. It is too bad that some entrepreneurs can't even get started here in Michigan. Synder wants to help companies stay in MI, I have not been offered a word of help from MEDC. Why Michigan? I do not know!
That's a damned good question. I keep asking myself, Why stay! but It goes back to I'm broke and can't afford to move now that the economy took all my retirement and the organizations that are set-up to help business only help businesses that are already in good shape
East of the get rich quick mentality, west of the old economy, there's a place where you can lose yourself... to despair, high taxes, and pot holes. I often ask, "Why Michigan," but it's more like, "Why? Why? WHY?" That's "Pure Michigan!"
@manzell3 Great reply and I agree 100%. If someone doesn't like it here, they should leave. There will be more for the rest of us and we'll all be better off.
