That was obviously a robotic camera mis-cue caused by their automation system.

I've seen it many times.

I've even done it once or twice myself.

Once the camera had moved, the operator had two options:

1) Swing the camera back around on-air or

2) Advance to his next event (the medium shot of the anchor) and pray the reporter wraps up quickly.

THIS is what happens when stations try to save money by turning jobs once held by people over to machines.
