try the Lavazza super crema beans, you will get a lot more crema, first i used the starbucks beans and the result was like that, now i switch to lavazza and its really better
@luongdung Bleh use quality espresso blend beans 3-15 days from roast kept in an airtight container in a dark place at room temperature and grind in a quality flat burr grinder just right before brewing.
Actually robusta generally produces more crema than arabica, however, the freshness of the beans and a short time span between roasting and grinding, and the fineness and consistency of grind have more to do with it. This shot appears lacking in crema volume, and the cause could be any of several variables.
Well, I did say "generally." Certainly an exception would be for Monsooned Malabar, (arabica) which when freshly roasted completely fills the cup with crema that just sits there for several minutes. Too bad it tastes pretty awful by itself, however.
thats true ! not the "super crema " Lavazza crappy beans

Dude, I have a mirror setup.
Machine: Gaggia Deluxe (Less 3-way solenoid).
Grinder MDF Setting: 4
Beans: Ladro Blend (Available in Seattle) One of the best espresso blends out there.
Portafilter: Stock
Preparation: The top of the porta-filter with enough coffee, and level off excess. Tamp properly, but don't over do the tamp.
Perfect results: 25 secs, mouse tails, redish brown crema.
Perfect Test: Create an Americano, the crema still settles to the top of cup. What a beautiful cup.

Well, that's what I call an espresso cup, simply PERFECTO!!

there are no Starbucks or Lavazza in my country. But China has them :-)

If you want a decent shot and crema you need to get freshly roasted beans, nothing else will do.

luongdung 3 years ago
I don't know. Got them at a kitchen shop. Brand name is "Crema - italian burn". Probably all arabica.
lavag2 3 years ago
hey, I am thinking about getting one of those. Does it come with the double spout portafilter or just the stock one. Thanks for your time.

it comes with just the double spout

tooooo much water, retry
pipperoxp 4 years ago
too much water?
it's exactly 1.25 ounces in 25 secs. That's the Golden Rule.
Maybe you look for ristretto?
lavag2 4 years ago
It's all explained at wholelattelove dot com
DOUBLE SHOT: Equals 2 to 2.5 fluid ounces of water pulled through approximately 14 grams of ground coffee in about 20 to 25 seconds.
SINGLE SHOT: Equals 1 to 1.5 fluid ounces of water pulled through approximately 7 grams of ground coffee in about 20 to 25 seconds.

Looks like there's a LOT too much water in that shot... try filling the whole porta-filter before tamping and you should do better...

I don´t thing so dude. Preparation will always help. But arabica brings more crema , yes.. generally.
