To me, the baby basher looks like the woman from The Hand That Rocks The Cradle. I can't think whather name is but she was Clair Bartell, a woman who's OB/GYN molested her. The man kills himself and his wife, played by Rebecca DeMornay goes crazy and pretends to ba a nanny and works for the Bartells
It seems really strange how Paul Reids haracter just vanishes. i wonder if it was ill health of the actor George Mallaby. I read somewhere that he suffered a series of strokes in the 1980's
I thought that too but I just noticed that George Mallaby who plays him wrote episode 134 when I was uploading it- although he could have written it months in advance so it may well have been that he had a stroke because his departure is not explained at all
George Mallaby passed away on Monday July 12, 2004. He acted and wrote for a number of series in the 1970s and 80s, including Homicide, Matlock Police and Prisoner. He continued acting until 1992 when suffered the first of series of strokes which eventually confined him to a wheelchair.
Shes far from a popular charecter, but I Have to say I really enjoyed Gail Sommers storyline. There were ups and downs but I think she did some great acting in places.
@05:17-05:34 Vera looks like she is about to burst into tears but then she takes a swipe at Meg.

Gail reminds me of Jack Nicholson's wife in 'The Shining'.

What is with this show's preoccupation with checked prints? Must have got a discount or something.

I was thinking that also. Maybe this is when he had his first stroke.
