So why is the title saying "reject"? Doesn't he come back and ask a normal question to make the point that he has accepted the fact that they are a couple? Or is it just me not getting it?

well what I think the uploader ment by that the father rejected Billy`s "friend" was that he pretended like nothing had happened that he was just Billy's friend.

But I agree with you it seems the father accepted the relatshionship
