I've been on 10/500 norco's about 10 a day for 2 year's..sometimes I take 6-8 a day depending on the pain. I'm thinking about cold turkey or tapering off, what do you think?
How long do you think my withdrawls will last with my history?
It is a long ride but you can do it. I can not stress enough... most withdrawals stay around 7-10 days according to how high your doses were and how long you took them. IF you feel like your body sint adjusting... got to the ER!! They will help you. They wont report you or call the police- I know there is a fear in admitting withdrawals but they are there to help you. One step at a time!! And we are here to help!! Dont do this alone.
I got a friend who is addicted.she can't quit now because of the pain coming off.she tries but by second day she is bed ridden.she works has a family and noone knows.she buys hers off streets.so to function normal without anyone catching on and not miss work she will have to take some so it never ends.when she can't afford anything or find anything she will take tramadol to help with the terrible leg cramps and body aches she gets.it helps her long enough till she finds more.what can she do for
I put myself in that position one time. That was 5 years ago. I still use pain medicine; I’m 50 with SS plates and screws holding me together. The medication is managed by my wife. I taper down when my tolerance gets too high. I have a tendency to keep taking them till the pain is gone. That’s why I don't handle them. Right now I’m tapering down, i feel a slight discomfort. Sometimes i completely detox and remove everything. I do a long slow taper thats is the way.
My most sincere and deepest respect to you and your strong will.
And well, anybody who's going through the same.
On another note, I'd like to contact you personally, by email. Is that possible? I just want to know more about your journey with morphine and withdrawal. For research reasons. I'd appreciate it a lot. Thank you. Anna, superappled@hotmail.com.
Use them only at night, break them in half, take half at night only. then tough it out during the day. Take hot baths, sit for hours, this helps so much.
In addition to my post below I would like to say Thanks for the great video...you hit it right on with your description of the symptoms...I was having a hard time describing to my husband what I was feeling and when he saw this he knew just how bad it really is...I would never have gone cold turkey knowing what I know now...my 1st attempt 3 weeks ago I made it a day and a half...he went to work and I was on the phone finding pills..you MUST have a loved one by your side...
I have been on 10 a day 30mg oxycodone for a year and a half..was becoming immune and needing more...I thought how far can this go.. so I went cold turkey ..discourage it..try to get professional help ....you are about to fight the biggest DEMON on the planet!! It truly is a painful miserable HELL!..you must have support 24/7...if not, you are likely to fail..the minute you are left alone you will seek relief from the pain.. failed my 1st try..my husband had to take off work to be with me..
I had a severely infected pilonidal cyst removed in late august. I've been getting Percocet 5/325 from my wound care center since then because the wound is in a very painful area. I know withdrawals are terrible but it can be done. I'm pushing though. The RLS is the worst for me, makes it impossible to sleep. I recommend taking a high dose of potassium, it can work wonders for RLS. Drink plenty of OJ, take a multi-vitamin, and eat lots of bananas. The most important thing though, LOTS OF WATER!!
nomoreopiates...did you experience any dilusional things? I read somewhere where it was mentioned but theres not a lot about it. May have been more sleep deprivation that true withdrawal but I saw people all over my house last night during the worst of it. Like outlines of people, almost ghostlike. Sounds super nutty but I went through this for about 2 hrs. I wasnt scared but it was comfortable either. FINALLY slept almost 2 hrs today. ZERO sleep besides that since Day 1. Thnx for your help.:)
Last night was ROUGH. The lack of any sleep at ALL for 48 hrs was what I think made it feel worse. Cold sweats and body cramping, skin "crawling" were really the only withdrawals I had to deal with last night though and I could feel them subsiding some. By 6am this morning(my Day3), the chills were completely gone. That was enough to make me a happy girl. Now, in hour # 4 of Day3 the skin crawling is almost gone(thank God!) and the pain I kept taking opiates for that I deeply feared is gone.
I so much appreciate hearing your story. I'm about to flip the day countdown in a few hours to my Day3. Makes me wanna happy dance to realize that:). I've been on pain killers(oxy and tramadol), which were all Rx'd by my doctor. Cold turkey w/ the oxy b/c I was sick of being it's slave. I made one trip to a new doctor and when viewing my history, he offered me a Rx for something "much better". No warnings at all, only high praises. Tramadol. That was over a year ago. Days 1/2=PURE HELL.
can someone help me,i went cold turkey off oxy 15m..its been a week and a half and i think im getting better but i have this twitching constantly my eyes, and light headed 24 7..but i have moments where im totaly fine, and then it comes back, the flashes arent there no more, but the trembling in my head still lingers,am i getting better? plz hit me back up..this is my first time dealing with this kind of ride...and how long does it take for the withdrawls to leave the body?
i lost 4 years of my life to pills and have been struggling with withdrawls for the past 4 months but i have been clean for one month today and dont withdrawl any more. my life is so much better now that i am clean. your video helped me alot everything you mentioned ive been through. somtimes its easy to forget but other people out there are going through the same thing. it means alot to me to hear other peoples stories. thank you
i do morphine and percocet daily for severe back and neck injuries sustained in a car accident. ive run out before the end of the mth many times and the withdrawl is brutal. ive noticed that your sweat just wreaks alrite. well on a positive note i know now that if i never took another pill i could get thru it ,the addiction part. unfortunately without it for a few days and im back to almost seized up and in great pain. as friend in the same boat told me once "your wired"......
the odd thing about wds for me is that i never experience anything that could be described as "pain" or diarrhea, and i was doing IV h for years, a lot. everything else, yes: the smell (oh yes, it's like a putrid chemical out of your pores) and the panic and tension, i feel for sure, along with no food or sleep, but i feel no actual pain or bodily secretions aside from snot.
I just want to say for anyone else on opiates. with each relapse the withdrawal gets more brutal. i literally didn't sleep the first night, because you cant sit still. Now the depression is intense. I cant stop crying. i hope this hell ends soon.
all of the reports about the cold sweats, and everything is so true... i hate the sleeplessness, i am there right now. I have a headache as well... not only that but my jaw locks really bad, my jaw locking is what keeps me up the most!!
If it gets better in about five day why do you think I woke up on my 9th day cold turkey with the worst stomach ace and restless legs than I ever had? When will it get better if I've been talking them for a few years? I weaned my self off and Ive been able to keep my addiction under control by not taking more than 2 a day for the last yr. Then over a months period I gradually went down to one for 2wks then a half of one for 2wks to cold turkey now for 9 days. When will it get better? Hospital???
Great Video Brother. Totally agree with the video.
