Not seeing any notes on this but I'm not hearing the sound. I searched for this because I noticed my copy of it on the 45 with "Nathan Jones" is damaged and won't play.
Once again where is the sound? I know that the problem is not with my computer
because I try to play this on my job computer and no sound. Also I had 5 of my friends and 2 of my co-worker to see if they could hear this song on their computer. They confirm what I wa saying no sound.
luckily i had this tune on cassette tape from the original Touch album.....Four Tops did a so-so version in 1972, but this one trumps theirs 100% ..its a tight tune
Coulda definitely charted high as an A-single release. It was well-produced, tight, and had a lot of Supreme licks that would have caught on infectiously when airplayed often. I try to imagine songs passing my "dancing on Soul Train or American Bandstand sets" visual -- and I can see the cool guys and ladies groovin' to this one, if it'd been given a chance. :-(
This is much better than FLOY JOY - that song I don't like at all.
THIS IS A CLASSIC. This should have been released as a single. TEARS LEFT OVER from the shelved Promises Kept album/sessions is another AWESOME song that could have been a major hit.
I remember buying this new 45 from The Supremes without even hearing it first. I thought that "Happy" sounded like the good old Supremes and would be the side they'd play on the radio, but what was that strange song on the other side, with the horns and phasing effects - I thought that was a weird song. Turned out to be "Nathan Jones". Just goes to show how versatile they were.
This has been one of my favorite songs by the Jean's Supremes since i was a child! Why haven't this lineup (Jean, Mary and Cindy) thought of a reunion?
i bought all the 70's supremes records and loved them all! they were great. berry was right. we got two for one. i loved diana and followed her career and i also followed the new supremes.
Lol. I deleted someone's comment twice by mistake lol because the reply button is like right below the remove button. It annoys me they are so close together
Actually the only time they lost success realy was with the jimmy web album , with Jean they got a R&B boost and a pop revival. With Lynda they had a top 40 in the Uk(bad weather) and with the other 70's line-ups they had more japanese and eurpean succes and their songs were top 10 disco and uk always. But historians won't tell you that cuz Berry is paying them to not.
Do you honestly believe that? Their record speaks for itself. Who was checking for the Supremes after Jean left? Jean, Mary and Cindy should do a tour....period! They should have changed their name after Diana left....they were a new group!
they did back to the supremes ifact they got praise in the 70's for being blacker. If you read my commet right you will see that I am praising them not hatig like taddyd1
My comment wasn't an attack by any means....sorry! I just don't think that Berry is paying anyone to not talk about the Supremes after Ross left. If so, that is a waste of money! It's just that some people like to say the Supremes weren't black enough....and what is that supposed to be? They were sophisticated black women that represented the black race WELL!
nono, lol, that was the black panther party in the late 60's. the 70's supremes(the jean era) was praised for being blacker. What killed them , was lack of promotion, interviews were about their opnion of dian ross, and berry paid publisicts were attacking their music, say its not the supremes, when we all know it better(or could of been)
ALOT of things they did did NOT make sense....But were good for 'coverup' to SEEM like they were doing alot.......and to make the blame seem to fall on The Supremes themselves! Hogwash!
Like, going thru the pressing and releasing of records just to not distribute them, and then to recall them and melt them down to make them unavailable! Lotta money involved in the 'madness' to do an 'agenda' that would've served them well NOT to do. Financially WELL to just do 'right'!....but...
this was done quite often in the industry as profit incentive between retailers and distributors , its complicated but simply printing out records and then destroying them is profitable in the music biz
NOT as Profitable as 'selling' them! And nobody can tell me different! I know that it has happened before, but it does NOT make sense to print them, and not distribute them so that the 'retailers' can say that they or can claim a hold on them as far as having handled them. That's the same as saying they make a profit on nobody making records! They WON'T! They'd go outa business! Distributors would too! AND record companies, like Mary's solo cd company!
@nealadams70 Read the book "Motown: Music, Money, Sex, and Power" by Gerald Posner. On page 217 it breaks down how Motown & its distributors used a loophole regarding cutouts to enable them to sell product without paying royalties to the artists and songwriters. I would have posted it here, but its too lengthy.
Haven't heard this in ages. This album was way before it's time. Wish I had the 8 minute version of HERE COMES THE SUNRISE. According to Harry Langdon, he wanted to add some type of glitter to the ablum cover, but BG complained it would cost too much. Nevertheless, the album cover is hot, and Cindy looks absolutely radiant. THANKS.
#$%%&$#"! May I advise you to remove the video...thanks...

I love the "Touch" album, and this song in particular. Those backing vocals on the chorus are so elusive. Love, love, LOVE the dropout near the end.
