  • when u mod these standard trimmer engines for boats the clutch slips with a prop thats too small , i would hard drive the clutch , but good luck mate

  • @judechopper

I have used clutches on some boats for years , if a clutch slipped it was because the shoes were wore or I had to big of a prop . Never heard of one slipping because the prop was too small .

  • My mothe always told me waterhose and a trimmer don't go well togethere

  • use huqsvarna chainsaw or stihl bruscutter for better performance...and 041 caburator....blv me...

  • Did you mod the carburetor too?

  • @85projectcar

Yes, I have a fixture for my lathe , where I can bore them out and radius the inlet side of the carb .

  • @chipbreakr If you want to do some carb work, pm me with a price on service.

  • Alright did u buy or make the metal part that goes around the cooling fins?

  • @eastonbighitter

    Made it , 2 1/2 "od x 2" id 1 5/16" tall aluminium

  • @eastonbighitter its water cooled man

  • Sweet vid how'd u convert to water cooled?

  • @eastonbighitter

Machined the fins down on the cylinder and made a jacket for it.

  • @chipbreakr ok thanks but how did you attach the jacket to where the cooling fins use to be?

  • @eastonbighitter

Drilled and tapped 2 - 6x32thds through the top 2 fins , becareful not to drill through the top of nthe combustion chamber

  • where's the air filter :S

  • what kind of hull did you put this in? I raced r/c boats a few years back (catamarans *sp?) I did both oval and offshore. I ran the striker hull w/ our 25cc. Fastest the boat went was 66 mph, on the end of back straight. I'd love to tell you what prop we were running (of course it was big), but can't remember for the life of me. I miss my r/c boating days. Always pissed off the old farts when i'd put my 25 in the unlimited/open class :P

  • @CRyan881

I sold most of the homelite engines you see on my youtube videos. Currently I have 3 boats ,a 48" Gator v hull, 41" Falcon cat and a 48" wooden vee that I"ve built from scratch. 2 have highly modified 27cc zenoah engines and the 3rd has a 26cc zen in it.

  • lmao sounds just like a pissed off go kart XD

  • sounds great, how do you make it sound that way?

  • @Nate07rccrazed

read comments below for engine mods.

  • What all did you do to it, it sounds awesome!!

  • @TRcustomengineering

upped compression, upped port timing, stuffed crankcase, lightened piston , lightened flywheel ,matched transfers to case and a few other tricks.

  • @chipbreakr Cool, just like a dirt bike pretty much.

I got some old weedeaters laying around, i might play with them and see what i can come up with!

  • @chipbreakr what exactly is the compression/how do you change it?

is it the amount of air in the cylinder?

  • @TRcustomengineering

Great , have fun with it !

  • @TRcustomengineering THATS SICK LOL!!!

  • The sound <3

  • What's ur email address so I can send u some pic of my motor to see if u have rid bearing I need, mine is mark1012772000@yahoo.com

  • What model motor is that homelite cuz I have the same one but my bearing is bad for my piston rod and can't find it anywhere cuz of not having the model #

  • @markandrews0420

Take some pictures of your rod and one of your crank I might have one to fit it . Send it to my email address

  • @chipbreakr

    ...That's what she said

  • I make all my own waterjackets, you machine the fins off the cylinder down to the top of the exhaust port and then make the jacket to fit.

  • @chipbreakr what kind of water pump do you use with it?

  • @Bamchucknorris

A vaccumed operated fuel pump works great as a waterpump .

  • where did you get the kit to make it water cooled?

  • what 2 cycle oil is that? (brand)

  • @bryan12887

    Amoil racing oil

  • She sounds like a beaut!

  • hey nice engine well done,

although are you planning on putting this engine in anything like rcplane, boat, car or a scooter even because i would like to know how you would start the engine if it were mounted straight to a propeller? because teir would be no room for the pull starter.

    thanks

  • @1234Guitarman1234

It went in a r/c boat , that's why it is watercooled .

    Thanks for the comment.

  • i dont know why i just love the sound it makes at idle

  • you could have a scoop to let water in and dump it out the back of the boat :)

    Nice mod ;P

  • sounds very nice

  • Bravo Bravo. now design a mini water pump and radiator. then get patten and turn around and sell it to the company

  • nice watercooled is the way to go

  • what all has been done?

  • read the comments below for all mods done to this engine.

  • looks it have some parts of a zenoah 260 pum :).

    Nice anyway

  • no zen part were used on this engine

  • why watercooled?

  • it's for a r/c boat , makes it run cooler

  • awsome trimmer!!!

  • cool

  • okay i have a 31 cc ryiobi i am making an air boat

  • sick how much does it cost for u to make me a water cooled head

  • for a homelite it $50.00 to machine your cylinder and install a aluminium waterjacket , with fittings

  • ok so how much for a 31 cc ryobi i am making a airboat out of

  • how do you pump the water?

  • It appears to be a thermal siphon but I could be mistaken.

  • Probably a Walbro WIP-10 which is based of of the exhaust pulse. This keeps the boat pumping water at idle

  • Vacuum operated fuel pump, runs off the pulse of the engine , no exhaust .

  • @chipbreakr yeah it uses a neopreme diophram

  • did you make the water cool head

  • sure did

  • nice!!

  • tight

  • where did u get parts for it at

  • made them

  • We run them in boats . on the water , isn't a lot of dirt there .

  • nope, just a lot of water :D

  • dude were did you get the parts for that, i need to know! its frekin sweet!

  • roughly 3 to 3.5 hp

  • now i can cut some grass with that now

  • sounds strong man...

    nice job...

  • modded? it sounds like lag and its revving freely

  • tell that to the guy whose running it in his boat doing 45mph

  • 45mph? stock zen = 48mph with race pipe

  • lol those last few coments made me laf.....

"and how did you know my name?" lol

    nice motor

  • have u ever experimented with velocity stacks??

  • sure have, didn't make much of a difference

  • really

cause i put 1 on my baja and it picked up rpm

  • your running a air cleaner , right. We don't run air cleaners on our boats. I guess that is the difference.

  • ya probably, but do u serioulsy want to mod our homlite?? the 30cc u said it was good for modding

  • bret, do you want it watercooled or air cooled. If you want it modded and watercooled the price is $135.00 ,including shipping and insurance . If you want it aircooled it will be $100.00

  • really do u have e-mail or somthing cause were in for water cooled!!!!!!

o and how did u know my name??

  • hey try to mod a 4 stroke honda weed wacker thall be some ass kicker power

  • nice its a superpowered weed wacker!!

  • i have a home light that has many of the same mods that you have, Water cooled, ported, biger carb, the bottom flange is milled down, the crank case is stufed, the timing is advanced and the fly wheel is lightend and ballened,

  • I've been modifying engines for over 10 yrs. There used to be a few guys modding homelites and selling them . Not so many now, everyone has went to zenoahs, as have I . But I do a homelite ever now and then .

  • hello mate just thought id ask a few q's i have a petrol strimmer engine in a model boat. but its a bit slow what can i do to it. i dont think its of a known make

  • You can read the comments on this page and see what I had done to this engine.

  • what king of basic modification you have to do to the engine to convert in an rc boat engine ???

  • If you want just a stock engine you can machine the fins off the cylinder down to the top of the exhaust port and put a waterjacket on it. If you want one like in the video, there is a lot of machine work to do to the port , machine the bottom flange of the cylinder to up compression and all kind of tricks to do to the piston. You can go on the internet and look up homelite hopup and get the basic mods. I've been building and selling these engines for over 10 yrs.

  • what kind of brand of engine would you recommend ??

  • Homelite , if your going to use a weedeater engine. perferably a older one. The newer ones have lower exhaust port timing, so you either have to do alot of port work or have low rpm. If your looking to build a real fast boat , buy a 260 zenoah , it's fast right out of the box and it's already watercooled.

  • has anyone ever tried to convert one of these to run on nitro like little rc engines?

  • I think they have ,but the cranks aren't made to turn real high rpm.

  • i have a relativley new 25cc weedwacker motor and it vibrates like hell, your motor runs smooth and dose not shake much. is there somthing wrong with mine or is that the way all weedwaker motors are. could it be some carburetor problem?

  • on the newer weedeater the carb only has 1 adjustment screw, you can;t tweek them like the ones that have the high and low setting screws .

  • ther are two screws marked with H and L (walbro carburettor). il play with them and see what happens. Thanks.

  • the carburettor is a walbro 670 - 12.7mm

  • you can start with 1 to 1 1/2 turns out on the low screw and no more than 1 turn out on the high screw

  • the Low screw was the bad, the High one needed no major modification. I've also set the idle speed lower and it does not die anymore. Now, the shaking is still present but it seems to run beter now and it accelerates quickly at the slightest flick of the gas. Tanks for the help :)

  • What mods did you do besides water cooling? did you shave the cylinder head as well? please let me know i have this same engine and i have built a 55 inch hull from my own design. i know my hull is heavy but this would help i have access to a full machine shop. also i dont want to do anything too drastic as i wanna keep the engine for a long while lol.

  • .020 head to piston clearence, 172 degrees on the exhaust ,152 degrees on the intake, removed fins from flywheel , 167 walbro carb , autolite 425 sparkplug, stuff the back of crankcase to .015 clearence off rod pin , match transfers of cyclinder to block , match intake to cyclinder ,and you will have a great engine, a 55" hull is a bit much for a 25cc homie ,though.

  • how mph has it?

  • would move a 48" vee hull between 45 and 50mph

  • how many cc's?

  • 25cc

  • Im pretty sure I pusted this on the wrong video.

  • do you know how much power that thing puts out?

  • roughly 3 to 3.5hp

  • love the sound :D

  • that is a sweet power band

  • revs pretty high

  • what fuel u runnin?

  • 87 octane with 6 oz. of oil

  • Is this a converted strimmer engine?

    Who made the cylinder?

    Good.

  • used to be a grass trimmer , all engine mods and aluminium work was done by me.

  • where you going to tell us about these mods?

  • this started out as a homelite weedeater, it has a one piece forged crank, i turned cylinder for waterjacket, upped compression, opened up ports and upped port timing, removed fins from flywheel and balanced it, matched intake to cylinder and added a 167 big bore carb . I sold this engine to a guy in russia .
