  • songbirds sucks I can't even click the add to cart button it doesn't do anything. >=(

  • so everything i read points me in the direction of the songbird oot, but honestly i think the stl looks and sounds better =/

  • techniacly its not a ocarina of time replica in the game the ocarina of time has 7 holes on the front but i dont know how many on the back.

so really thats not a replica

p.s im GUESSING that there is 2 holes on the back i dont know reallly

  • @MegaDanlex the real replica actally has no holes on the back

  • @MegaDanlex there is a new 7 holes zelda replica on songbirds webpage

  • Key of c its tuned to the key of C

  • did you three of them on ebay?

  • that is the old one the new one is in the key of a.

  • @MehhX12 it doesnt seem like it, but don't hold me to that!

  • Does the case still come with it?

  • Can i trust Songbird ocarina?

  • is it true that the gold platinum band fades and eventually peels off? :( doesnt it have the ceramic glazing over to protect the plating?

  • @jann1180 I have an older one, and so far no peeling.

I have taken very good care of it though.

  • Does the case protect from breaking when dropped I'm thinking about getting one for my stl zelda replica would it fit?

  • aah yes I can see it now-the long discussions of zelda time line theory!!!!!

  • Jesus can play the ocarina well

  • Nice job with Gerudo Valley, I cant figure it out!!!!

  • Comment removed

  • Songbird must have overhauled this before re releasing it in C because now it has about the smoothest playability and mellowest tone ive ever heard

  • haha

  • nerd ..▲..

    ▲ ▲

  • i have a lil prob with my OOT its losin the platinum color is that normal?? plz reply

  • @Chamaquito1234 the platinum is a very very thin coating, as platinum is expensive. If you haven't been gentle or storing your ocarina right, it may have caused wear away to the layer of platinum.

  • hey do me a favor and make it rain tomarrow lolz

  • sweet review man

  • Hello Peter Jackson

  • to clarify...

    @ ocarinaman22

    @ ziggysp2000

the "gold band" is made "with" real platinum, not solid platinum

  • How much does it cost?

  • hahahaha im the bissest zelda nerd and so is my friend so haha we role play pertending we the people like saria, and link haha and the think is i dont care bc i love zelda but its to bad there not makeing it anymore after they fishish the wii one :'(

  • @lipgloss963210 they're not gonna stop making zelda, are they? I was hoping the series would return to it's former glory

  • @lipgloss963210 they cant just stop making zelda can they??

i Would also consider myself an insanely huge zelda fan, i do the same kinda things as you haha. im buying one of these ocarinas this summer when i get my job :]

  • @jonclark14 omg i loveeeeeeeeeeeeeeee zelda !!! i cry'd when i found out there not making zelda no more the last zelda thats coming out is in april first: zelda the skyward sword for wii and you half to have the motion thing that goes in your wii remote i for get what its called but its the VERY LAST : ' ( zelda

  • @lipgloss963210 i wanna cry now D: i love zelda so much. i thought for some odd reason it would be one of those franchises that would go on for like ever! its completely amazing. i wonder what is going through their heads???

  • @jonclark14 oh and i ended up buying this ocarina i love it!!!

  • I actually get to make a ceramic one of that.

  • its tune in A, C, or B

    you choose

  • I enjoy your reviews, thank you. just a couple of questions. if you were to choose the songbird or the stl zelda replica which would you choose? also, have you tried the stl special edition tenor replica?

  • @skyler154 I don't know if this helps anymore since it's a year late, but most people prefer the Songbird Zelda replica because it sounds better and also looks better.

Also, the STL 'tenor' definition is bit misleading, because it plays exactly the same notes. So yea, the 'tenor' is really an Alto as well.

  • Nice review. :) I have that ocarina but it's tuned in C.

  • @TheAtze35 And your a bitch :D

  • no its platinum does it come with 3 books the new

  • I'm having trouble picking between the Songbird and STL. Both look great and sound great. Could you help distinguish?

  • ive heard bad things about stl ive heard only good thinks about songbird

  • could you please pm me what you've heard?

  • well, I guess let this be the first bad thing you've heard about songbird. I bought one of the small sweet potato ocarinas from them a couple years ago and you can't get the highest notes to play at all. I later bought a 12 hole tenor from stl and it's played just fine....now that could just be me having a run off bad luck. There's been plenty of people on youtube that's not had any trouble with their songbird ocarinas.

  • @XxBK201xX STL is much better. Plus they're all hand painted by this super cool chick =P

I'd recommend you look up linkinspirit on youtube, and listening to her's.

  • @thatparkourdude

yeah lol. I've seen her vids alright =)

  • If it's main purpose was to be a zelda replica, shouldn't it be lefty as well?... Don't know if you noticed that, but so far I have not seen anyone address that yet.

  • EXACTLY! YOU ARE A GENIUS! That is what I was thinking because I'm a lefty. But, I guess lefties have to live with it.

  • i have the sweet potato ocarina it has 6 holes and is not the extended range.

  • Do they sell spencers anymore?

  • Straight from the website

The ring is coated with real platinum. There are 2 thumb holes on the bottom. The instrument has a 21 note range. A Songbook/Tutorial with songs from Zelda is included.

  • But that only for the new ones D:

  • darren wrote on his old website it was real platinum.

everyone goes to fast on the gerudo vally theme you did it just rite.

  • it's in the key of c and the "silver band" is real platinum.

  • They changed it, mine is in A, the new ones are in C....and no, it's not realy platinum.... if it was, this thing would be wortha small fortune.

  • I guess the new ones are... but it could be a very a thin coat and say its real platinum.

  • @ziggysp2000 The platinum is real, but it is a very very thin coating around the ceramic ring that is already there.

  • @ziggysp2000 naaah its very real alright

  • @ziggysp2000 The website says its a little layer of platinum.

  • @ziggysp2000 no that's platinum alright, (trust me im a chemist) the onley reason it's not worth a fortune is that the platinum is coated not solid.

  • @ziggysp2000 The ring is coated with real platinum. The Tri-Force gemstones are made from inlaid mirrored plexiglass.

  • @ziggysp2000 Its thin platinum coating, almost worthless

  • @ziggysp2000 it is platinum coated

  • yes it isn't really platinum cause if you look on the new website where the ocarina is he has a picture of it right after he crafted it and it has the band but it's clay i'm sure it's just a metalic glazr whick is ver convincing

  • @ocarinaman22 its COATED with a small layer of platinum, for shine

  • @ocarinaman22 platinum plated...that's why its up in the 100$ range. wish they didn't do that. =/

  • After seeing this video, im no longer wondering if i should or shouldnt get one. Just need to check my bank balance :)

  • I'm buing this from songbird...

  • on the website it said it's tuned to a key of c

  • They have changed it. Its a real shame as I wanted one in A.

  • yeah i guess they did change it....no doubt having one in A was fun, but C would make it more attractive to the new ocarina player

  • Not to mention, having it tuned in C lets it play most of the songs you PLAY in the ocarina of time quite easy, which is something I'd think they would go for with an ocarina like this.

  • the replica should have the point

pointing left if you ever play ocarina of time

    and pay close attention

  • Yeah, we need a left handed ocarina of time. Accurate as hell.

  • They have been. Check out Clayz.

  • The holes are in illogical positions that wouldn't work in real life.

  • i coudnt find this ocarina on ebay

  • go to google and type in songbirdocarina and pick the fist page.. you will come to songbird ocarinas website there it is avalierble fir 100$.

  • when you got this from ebay how much did it cost

  • roughly 120$

  • whoa, but on the songbird website it cost 100

  • yeah but I got mine ebay, they were much rarer then

  • @Shadow11614 I live in England so it only costs about £65.00 with shipping included :D

  • i played the song of storms once and it stormed like crazy, it was awesome!

  • i just brought one few days ago. shippment doest arrival yet... thanks for u review, really helpful.

i am just a zelda fan to collect the ocarina.

  • does it come with 3 song books and a case like the spencer

  • just one songbook......and a very unique case, hahaha

  • thx

  • i also looked for a picture of the same ocarina on google and i saw the picture of this video lol

  • if you love gerudo vally so much you could also listen to it on super smash bros brawl( if you have the game) but you'll have to unlock the song and when you create a stage on the game and put thee song on it

  • Hmm now if only i could find one. . .

  • frostbytepcz they are now on the website but they are expencive as hell

  • Thanks . . damn $99. . wish they where cheaper. . anyway cheers.

  • As someone said, the new version does'nt have the problems you encountered. Is this true? And are you going to buy one?

  • i have a stl tenor im thinking about painting the tri-force. If i paint where can i find a triangle thing at to do it?

    thx ziggy

  • well frankly i am not sure, I just did mine freehand

  • he accually changed it

his new demo videos have proof

its darker, better sounding, and more!

  • hey ziggy man which one is better a spencer or a songbird ocarina?

    i have the songbird one.

  • don't have a spencer, but I am lead to believe they are better.....they aren't exactly readily available though

  • The band with the ocarina on it is not metal... :P It's platinum! How cool, right?

  • it's actually in C (it's a C major scale that you're playing), but the lowest note is an A so you can also play A minor (being the relative minor of C major).

  • No....... It's tuned in A...... The lowest note is an F# and it's the A major scale he's playing.

  • They aren't tuned in A anymore.

He's tuned them into C now, and is offering to exchange the older models for his newer models for free i believe

  • Well When I made the comment to him, I wasnt talking about what they're tuned in now... I was talking about what the one in the video was tunes in. Not to mention they were still tuned in A when he made that comment.

  • Actually, some of what you said isn't true... you have to blow slightly softer on the low note and slightly harder on the high ones, otherwise, you'll get an unsteady sound.

  • I think he played around with how he makes them to change this a little, and this was recet so it depends which "generation" you have... I know mine is supoer moody, someday day it's easy, someday, just pick up a Hind, haha

  • Oh, the tone isn't airy at all, you just have to play it quietly. It's not a concert ocarina, it's better for small audiences. If played quietly and carefully, you should get a very clear tone.

  • I got one of these! It's broken now, but if you go to my page, you can see my performance of a Chrono Trigger song. (I'm no novice, don't expect a crappy song)

  • Even though its tuned in the key of A.

Do you still play all the songs the same or do you have to learn new fingerings?

  • well you see you most songs still go through a certain range in a song, so I mean, with the range an ocarina has, usually if you try to transpose too much you cut either the bottom or the top off.....for some songs that makes an a very convenient if you want to be true to the original k, but sometimes it better to pick up an ocarina in another key, or have a double lying around

  • Hii, im seriously thinking of buying this ocarina, is it worth my money? (btw gd review)

  • well if you're buying it for the right reason...

  • I have this one too, but the glazed color goes off very fast and the highest tone is VERY hard to play. you can´t really hear it.

sorry for this bad english, but I don´t know how to say it different =(

    ____________________________________

    Anyways good review :D!

    5/5

  • no I know what you mean you can't play into it aggressively at all, I understand :)

  • i preffer the sweet potato ocarina, because is easier to play i think 0.0

  • That /is/ a sweet potato ocarina. It's just a 12-hole one.

  • Why do no replicas have the proper amount of holes? =/

  • Ignore what I just said, I posted on the wrong video. About the wrong replica.

  • lol

  • i believe its made of clay, and they are very fine crafted ocarina's. not mearly a musical insterment, but a piece of art and a collecters item! great review :)

  • I just want to say, when playing, you should articulate your notes.

  • haha, well, fair point

  • Hah =]

  • is it it plastic or metal

  • it is ceramic yeah, or clay

  • i agree with you..it is perfect for a little down time from playing a more vigorous style on higher end ocarinas..and yes it is very indoor friendly that's wut i love about it..especially if u wanna play at night lol

Great review bro you really tell it how it is!

  • sounds like a friggen recorder

  • This is by far the coolest ocarina ive ever seen I want it so bad!!but jeez 100$? thats a bit to expensive for a 14 year old so Im hoping I can save up.

  • if u think thats expensive, then u should see how much the spencer ocarinas go for. they run between 300-700 dollars at the least!

  • depending on the location of where you live, you can easily get a newspaper job or something. Most countries 300-500 paper $50

  • Hey!! I know EGSACTLY WHAT YOU MEAN! I am 14 aswell, and livein england,But, i've been saving up three month and i just want to let you know -I FINALLY HAVE THE MONEY!! I'm ordering mine tomorrow! :) :D :D :D Just felt like letting you know, cause it's always good to be encouraged :P ^______^ GOOD LUCK!! YOU CAN DO IT IF I CAN !! :P

  • where u ordering it from and what is the price for uk

  • hey do u know if the songbook comes with the ocarina that is sold on the songbirdocarina website? btw, great ocarina playing, this review has helped me alot

  • I'm getting mine soon, so happy!

  • nice review

could you make a video doing the Song Of Time,Eponas Song, and Zeldas Lullaby

  • yeah chances are I can do, just play those three on the little songbird.....I sent it back to them for a replacement though at the moment so I'll get back to you when I get it back, or remind me, hehe.

  • Why did you send it back?

  • about how many songs sre in the book?

  • there are 36 songs, though some are really really short, of course

  • Do you know if it works with their other books or are the digrams specific to this one? Do you know if they still sell the blue holders on ebay thier kit on the sit does not include one and they sell red and brown seperate. Thank you for your time and aming the viedo, it may be the only way I can conivence my grandma to let me get one.

  • it's mini =D

  • Thanks man. I was really wanting to know how this one shapes up.

I own an Enigma from STL, and I was thinking about getting this one, but I see it just doesn't look like it's worth the 100 bucks. Although a Zelda replica would be nice, I just don't like the sound.

    Thanks for saving me!

  • ~▲~

  • Hey, Songbird went on The Ocarina Network's forum and announced that he'd replace his OoT replicas with a newer one that he just developed a few days again. You should try to get one, it supposedly corrects the problems that you found with the original.

  • Yeah i was aware of the offer, I believe I will entertain it after Christmas

  • can someone tell me wat the difference is between the songbird one and the spencer one. ziggy u can respond to this too. please

  • Well I for one, and many other people cannot claim to own both and I think to really give anything definitive, you'd have to atleast try both for some time. As far as I know there's only person who will atleast at sometime own both.... so hard to say :) I do hear that the spencer play nice though, and having played the songbird, I am not that surprised, it could be much better as a serious instrument

  • I think one of the major difference is that the Songbird is tuned in key A, and Spencer's is Alto C. Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

  • Could you tell me what songs are in that book?

  • i know that i own 7. I am looking at getting the maparam triple soon

  • they just put it up on the website!!!!!!!!!1

  • yeah! I also noticed that. I ordered one rigth away last week! can't wait 'til I get it!:D

  • kick ass on ebay somebody payed $450 and on the website its only $100

  • what are the measurements of it? from end to end and from mouthpiece to the bottom

  • 5.5'' long x 3 5/8'' wide x 2.5'' thick

  • yeah i thought that the Ocarina Of TIme was supposed to be an ancient soothing and legendary relic that is passed down through generations. Not a toy.

  • The ocarina isn't a toy it's a serious musical instrument

  • Thank you. I'm still trying to master the Extended Range Fairy Ocarina. It's fun. I suppose the OoT isn't necessary.

  • So that ocarina is not the same as the Spencer Zelda Ocarina? They look very identical!

    thanks for a great review!

  • Now they are two different ocarinas from two different makers.....though Spenecer has dissapeared lately

  • spencer has a leg injury and he did have a few left over, but it seems he has sold them all

he cant make ocs with a broken leg (or whatever)

  • Yeah I could see that side iof it... as mentioned above i think they were loyal to the artwork in the manual which makes part of it's nintendo's doing, it is true that the ocarina in the game is very much different. I actually started a discussion about this on one of the ocarina forums after making this review, haha.

Size, well, it's in A, imagina if it was in the standard C...it'd be even smaller...

  • If you didn't know the Ocarina of Time does not have the triforce and it has chameleon paint of light blue and Blue XP.

  • You know i was playing ocarina of time just tonight and i noticed that? There are officially no accurta replicas, hahaha :P I was shocked actually

  • I have found out since that this ocarina would be based on the artwork.....in the manual it appears this way allegedly.

  • so it's out of tune, but in tune with itself?

  • Yes...against an electric tuner it's way out but if you just listen to it by ear, the gap between each note is basically what it should be in terms of a step or a half step.

  • Excellent review man, but I think the spencer one is sooo much better than this one, spencer is bigger and has so much better sound quality. Anyways, I'm gonna subscribe....

    Jorel

  • Oh I suspect that you're right, though it'd be quite nice to be able to hve both side by side and know for sure, as well as how they compare in their subtleties.

    Thanks!

  • might be better in quality, but waaaay more afordable, im not going to spend 500 bucks or maybe even more for an oc

  • Actually these have been going for a 100 - 200$ dollar price tag, which is way cheaper than the spencer...

  • that was my point, spencers are waay cheaper, i knew that, thats what i was trying to say lol

  • Oh no my friend, spencer's, well atleast the ocarina of time replica zelda which i compare this too typically goes for 400+, where this one runs 100 - 200, it's a cheaper alternative to the spencer.

  • i know man, i want one soooo bad, sorry i meant to say songbirds are way cheaper, sorry for the misunderstanding lol

  • I just got mine today. I quite agree with you on many points in this review.

  • Excellent and most importantly i am really glad you got one! Anything you agree on less? One thing I have yet to is have a strong discussion about a certain ocarina, which i would love to do! In one sense I am curious how consistent songbirds are.

  • Your sound description is spot on. I have a few other issues with it that you don't mention, like the straight mouthpiece. I'll be writing a review soon, but want to play it a bit more first.

  • Oooh yea, the mouth peice is a little weird, I did find that too, though I basically just chalked the up to the fact that songbird hsas is own style. It is a good point, it certainly does feel different in your mouth.

  • who is the seller of this ocarina i know ots darryn songbird but who sells it on ebay?
