  • Thanks for posting this debate. I'm grateful for the look at history...

  • @ScorpioMensan1 - You're very welcome! Glad you enjoyed it! :D

  • If you think about it, they both had very similar approaches to the problems. In generally these two presidents had many things in common. However, you got to admit that if not the debates, Nixon was more likely to win the election. Especially after his success against communist spies and Hiss's trial.

  • Great Debate rip JFK AND RN

  • Nixon truly destroyed JFK in this debate. I am deeply upset and feel sorry for Nixon as he is only remembered for "Watergate", one mistake as opposed to the many brilliant and excellent achievements he has done during his years as president.

However I am a South African and therefore I do not wish to get so involved in a Presidency that did not concern my country.

I am expressing my personal opinion towards this debate and my sympathy to Nixon.

Rest in peace JFK and RN, two great Presidents.

  • @AppleMacRSA It wasn't one mistake.

  • excellent debate

  • I would like to take this time to express my fondness of duff beer.

  • Too bad the cia had to assassinate JFK, just because he is a peacelover....Shame right :(

I like like JFK (yes, to me he is alive)

  • lawls3

  • according to a jfk bio I'm reading, supposedly after this debate, while photogs were taking pics, nixon was putting a finger in jfk's chest and fussing like he was making stern points...does anyone know about these pics? i'd like to see for myself.

  • wow, anyone see similarities between this and the 2008 election? old experience vs young optimism played out on TV, which was the deciding factor? i think kennedy had his ideas ready in his head before the debate, and was inflexible with the flow of the debate. nixon had tons of experience in debate, but his points were murky and at times it seems he would lose communication with the general public. all in all, im really disappointed that this has recieved less than 10,000 hits. shame on yall

  • @thesamnsays The other segments of the debate that I have uploaded have much more than 10,000 views!

  • @thesamnsays Nice point. Nothing has changed since then. We put two socialists up for the Presidency and call one a Conservative(who want's to spend 100 years in Iraq, and signs on to spend $700 Billion...not very conservative) and the other a Liberal ( who forces you to buy health insurance and imposes a 55% death tax, well I guess he freely TAKES money...not very liberal).

  • @ItsAllAboutGuitar LMAO... oh man... socialists in America running for president... Say man... lemme know when you get off the ride, cause it sounds like a mad-cap fun rollercoaster...

  • Same could be said about the 1992 and 96 elections as well. In 2008 Mccain was 72 and Obama 47. In 1960 Nixon was 47 and Kennedy 43 so lets not get carried away. Nixon and Kennedy had pretty much the exact same experience only Kennedy had 8 years more of legislative experience and Nixon 8 more of executive.

  • @thesamnsays it would probably be better if the audio quality was better, just saying..

  • @thesamnsays Someone needs to get off of his pretentious high horse.

  • @thesamnsays It is pointless to blame us, the very people who are watching the debate, that not enough people have watched the debate.

its like blaming teachers for the fact that not enough people want to be teachers.

  • I have always been a partisan for President Kennedy as one of Americas great presidents.. a great man with great vision. I often listen to his inaugural public addresses I can find for the pleasure of his oratory and the inspiration of its content...

    But..

I can NOT see how the historical interpretation of these debates happened.. for me these look like a clear nixon vicotry. Kenedy looks bloated and puffy.. is dodging and signin bromides. Nixon looks sharp and stays on point. I'm PUZZLED.

  • thanks for uploading this.

  • Nixon did become president, so we can take a look at his full record. Despite what he did right, he was forced to resign by a bi-partisan decision. He resigned in disgrace after the Watergate break-in in which he was involved and tried to cover up.

  • History can't rightly judge JFK, because he never finished his 1st term. The Bay of Pigs Invasion was a fiasco planned by the GOP during the Eisenhower Administration. JFK stood up to the Russians, forcing them to withdraw missiles from Cuba. Republicans claim JFK a mediocre president, but that has more to do with politics and less to do with facts.

  • GO JACK

  • If Nixon had won, there would have been a quicker ending of the costly remaining new deal policies, much earlier ending of segregation in schools, no 'bay of pigs' and the linked nuclear scare, an earlier opening of dialogue with China, no Vietnam war, an earlier policy of detente with the U.S.S.R, and, as a result of these changes, no race riots, no students being shot, thousands of soldiers still alive, and a much better international profile for the U.S. Both Nixon and the U.S lost with JFK.

  • richard nix wouldve atomic'd the north vietnam , if he had been elected instead of john kennedy = this wouldve proved disasterous!

he might've sparked a chinese war against america if the bomb slighlty hit china! John kennedy acheived the nuclar test ban treaty of 1963 and started the medi-care plan before his successor johnson finshed it off!

  • @aubenhairything Very interesting assumptions you make. I would like to hear why you make the contentions that you do. I'm not trying to make you look foolish; I'm just very interested in how Nixon's politics, as you ascert, would lead you to believe what you contend. You may be correct. I would love to hear how Nixon could achieve all you contend. Thank you.

  • Having watched the whole debate, Nixon looked experienced, sure, solid and capable, whereas Kennedy looked like an actor, did not answer properly or straightly like Nixon did, and seemed like yet another pink lefty. Nixon only looked edgy because he was just out of hospital, where he had lost lots of weight, because he did not where make up in the 1st debate, and because his team were not as good at 'spin'. This really was a battle between style (Kennedy) and substance (Nixon), shame Nixon lost.

  • Disagree. Both men were class acts in that debate, in my opinion.

  • Its somewhat hard to debate when youve already lost...

  • this program was pre recorded. i always believed it was live.

  • JFK was a better speaker but his foreign policy started the vietnam war and bay of pigs fuck up which led to the cuban missile crisis which almost led to nuclear war, the Soviets didn't have the safeguard on their nukes back then like we did. There was a debate during the blockade between three USSR officers when the sub was running out of air whether to launch a nuke or surface, vote for lucky as shit Kennedy

  • kennedy was a very mediocre president and made several foreign policy blunders in his term. i think they were related more to his youth, naivety, and distrust of the military establishment than his ideology, though.

  • couldnt exactly say he had the time to go through with them, the only plan to comprehencively go through was the new deal, over five terms, and Kennedy was inexperienced in foreign policy specifics, but would Nixon really have been a better candidate in 1961?

  • Great debate... It was funny hearing Nixon almost self-deprecate.. "Some may say that my record is considered ___, ___, ___, ruthless, shitty, unfair to the fair, the poor, the old, ___, X, __...

JFK was right on cue, to the point, very specific, very knowledgeable about the future, the overall plans, and the basics and the reasons for every decision... Nixon seemed very nerved by JFK, almost like Nixon saying, "JFK would be a great president, but PLEASE vote for tricky-dicky!"

  • Are you kidding?? How could you even call it a debate?? I did not see anything that was largely different between them, at least based on the things they said . Both were saying the same crap, get tough on communism, build more schools, more hospitals, give better opportunities, the USSR and China are evil and will try to destroy us, our presidents have done better. And while they said all these things they said that there programs would be better, but once did I hear the specifics of them.
