oh I'd love that very much too. i believe they had a large underground following here back in the day and there are still some old faithful fans around like us. i was actually a little kid when i was first exposed to this music through my older brother. so i guess i'm not that old ;) but it stuck with me ever since.
@Curpow That would definitely be a DREAM COME TRUE!!!! I've never had the privilege to see these masters of prog live... don't they realize they have a big following here?? well at least once upon a time they did.. who am I fooling! beautiful music like this will always have a following and will NEVER die!
I've been listening to Grobschnitt since 1979 here in Canada, where Rockpommel was released on the small Canadian progressive label, Bomb Records. I would love to see them some year. Am Ölberg!
I am in Toronto, and I think I bought all of my Grobschnitt LPs here on Yonge Street. Yes, I don't think I bought any Grobschnitt in West Germany, because everything was available here. (I've been to West Germany 4 times, East Germany once, and reunified Germany 0 times. I did not attend a Mexican wedding near Heidelberg a year ago.) I think progressive was more popular in Eastern Canada than out west. My favourite German LP which I cannot find on CD is the first by Satin Whale, "Desert Places".
(I'm translating -- badly -- for people who don't read German.)
"Grobschnitt are back, yeahhhhhhhh! Only without Eroc and Mist and Lupo, but those were other times! We have 2008! And it's now the time for a story to tell ..."
I learned German in 1975, but I rarely use it now. There's no need to use German in Germany; everyone speaks excellent English there! German is useful in Turkey, Czech Republic, Hungary, former Yugoslavia. There are even some Swiss who speak German (bad joke). I used German here last winter -- German tourists sometimes ski down Ontario "mountains". Germans are usually very surprised to hear about Canadian high schools teaching German.

So, even a 16-year-old heavy metal fan says that Grobschnitt is to his taste!
Hurray for intelligent 16-year-olds!
