It's the CIA (USA) who does the torture and killing in the Philippines, still today. It's the French and the US who did the true Genocide in Vietnam (and the US in Korea). It's the US who threw nuclear bombs on Japan. It's the Europeans incl. Russia and US who started the war between the West and China, because China refused to import British drugs (opium war). It's England+US who have created chaos in the middle East by destroying the old cultures. It's Europe who's had colonies in Africa.....

of course, no one would care, all they care is to live in the US and Europe with a well-paid job and whatever the US is doing outside the media coverage, they don't care. People forgot all about the history, like who were the real convicts. China was a very cultured country and so was India, and South East Asia. Look what happened to them after colonization era. People don't need to know anything about these until history repeats itself.

china is going thru major industrialization when 1970's open door policy.... it's reasonable that they try to speed up modernization as the british/americans did in the past two hundreds yrs. China only takes 30yrs.... Then, the europeans invented slavery, human trade, exploitation, kill off indigenious ppls in americas, conquered whole africa, etc.. russian whts came up with communism and brainwashing all ppls around them...

@offspring1004 Can you also write without CAPITALS...? A dictatorship is bad, because it oppresses people. China on the other hand has pulled 300 million people out of poverty in the last 30 years. Can you think of any democracy which has done that? What is more important: to have food and education, or to have newspapers and elections? I say first things come first.
Talking about Argentina: It was the USA who overthrew your democratic governments in south america several times, not China.

At least my experience is very different from what you say: People can say anything, just not write it in newspapers. When it seems to threaten the system, then it's forbidden. And the West is similar: You can say anything about each party, but never question democracy as a whole, right?
