  • it's too bad this video was cut chopped and rebuilt!! why not put the entire speech up yah Douche bag!!

  • yikes

    equals

    shame

  • Is Canada still the best place on Earth and we're all relatively safe? Check

    Guy still has my vote.

The rest is BS to keep the plebs entertained and give em' something to bitch about.

P.S. Mackay is welcome to use anything he wants from my backyard, up to and including my last litre of potable water. /the wah people

  • Harper is right...

  • Vive le Québec Libre!!!

  • Je ne serais pas surpris de voir qu'il y ait de plus en plus d'émeutes anti-Harper dans les prochaines années. People will recognizes their stupidity, sooner than never.

  • @ArvinAgtarap We Quebecers have not been fooled by the Conservative Party (less than 17% of the Quebecers vote for them). Rednecks of the West did. If Harper does not respond to our needs, we will be glad to show him the door, and we will take every way possible to do so (including force if that's what it takes). I'm pretty sure every other citizen (more than 50%) who voted against Harper will do the same thing in the rest of Canada. Layton should've won this election, for Canadians' sake.

  • the long gun registry....people, please just educate yourself on it, and you will see that it should be scrapped, law-abiding citzens, do not commit crimes with non-concealable firearms, I mean do you think criminals are going to register their guns when they want to go commit a crime? NO! Please, just educate yourself on the subject, before you make the wrong choice, watch and read INDEPENDANT studies on the matter and you will see it is a waste of taxpayers money.

  • @zazszdzfzgzhzjzkzlzx Criminals may not register their gun. But if gun registry is abolished, ANYBODY will be able to buy a gun. It means that it will be even easier to commit a crime. Protecting citizens (even if it's only 10 or so per year) is not a waste of taxpayers money.

  • @SteveRowland you see, this is the exact kind of ignorance im talking about, it is only harming law-abiding citizens.....if the registry is abolished; licensing, background checks and safety training will not be abolished. I strongly beleive in safety, safety is one of THE BIGGEST factors in being a firearms owner, and any firearms owner who tells you otherwise, does not speak for the rest of us, and frankly, he is an idiot.

  • @SteveRowland If the gun register saves ONE life then it well worth it. I'm from the west and I am ashamed of our red-neck philosophy on this issue!

  • those damned 'socialists' : man all they want is universal health care, rule of law, education, and pensions; you know all that stuff our forefathers fought wars and elections over? this fascist is like a parody of a 'stupid greedy boy' cartoon character.

Sad - like a spoit child with power over others.

  • I am so glad Harper won. Maybe now the budget spending will be under control and we won't have to look for a new recession in a few years.

  • @BoredomCorner; you lose. We win. Suck it.

  • lol looks like it happened. woo cons!

  • Lame

  • You are a CONTROL frick. I hope canadians open thir eje and vote NDP.

  • Give me 5 minutes with this clown

  • NDP,. the Orange Wave is sweeping Canada. I am hoping for an NDP Majority, so they can actually get things done without being blocked by the CONtempt party as Opposition or begging the LIB's for help in forming a Coalition. But we will find out tomorrow on election day.

  • Harper Government? Harper's Canada?

Folks, this nonsense must be stopped.

    Let's not let this continue!

    Anyone but Harper!

  • Harper Government? Folks, let's not let this happen!

  • Threatening Canadians with the consequences of a different government other than Conservative is negative politics. I don't buy it. He will not get a majority government thanks to the NDP surge and the Bloc Quebecois.

  • The NDP taxed BC to death in the 90's and just about destroyed the economy. That means the small business man they supposedly support. They are for TAX increase. They are for to much govt. control. Jack Layton's a nice guy, but a nice guy who will NEVER, EVER get my vote!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Dear PM you never will Majority, Keep dreaming,,My Vote goes to NDP on your face

  • Dear PM you never will Majority, Keep dreaming,,My Vote goes to NDP on your face

  • Harper needs to be gone, don't believe his bs, he is the worst thing that Canada could do

  • nice editing ... how about the full story so people can think for themselves?

  • This is the first prime minister in a long time to make promises, and keep them. Or at least try, because of the minority government, he could not deliver on some. Hopefully that will change.

  • And Canadians are only interested in a healthy economy; are we really that shallow and stupid?! Looks like we are as long as Harper is at a podium. We should be outlawing this man before he makes our lives a nightmare. And he will!!!!!!!!!!

  • Can you tell me where I can find the whole thing (or at least an extended version)?

  • "We need to let law abiding gun owners..." (Harper fades out) Let them what? Own guns without letting the police know they have them? or was that "shoot their wives in a drunken blind rage on the weekend" because the police won't know how quickly to respond to a call for distress w/out the registry. Police want this registry, Harper is supposedly against crime, but as usual he doesn't take a principled stand, just stumps for votes.

  • @avlasics1the gun registry was a huge waste of tax payer dollars and continues to be. Gun related crime did not decrease, as criminals (surprise surprise) don't register their weapons. All the police officers I have talked to (officers in the family, their coworkers, etc) want it gone. An excerpt from wiki : "We have an ongoing gun crisis including firearms-related homicides lately in Toronto, and a law registering firearms has neither deterred these crimes nor helped us solve any of them"

  • Wow harper is so derterminated i hope i will kick their ass in 2011

  • Poor sad little man. He can only win by promoting fear, lies, contempt. Look up Fascism/Dictatorship. He has not strayed far from that type of governing. Not to mention the damaging agreements he's signed with the USA. :(

  • WAHHHHHHHHHHHHHH HARPER LIED, WE WANT SOMEONE ELSE!!!11!! Seriously, you don't think any of the other candidates running aren't spitting bullshit at you?

  • Fuck this guy has got to go Wake the fuck up Canada

  • Let me be clear about this - your time is over.

  • What, a politician lie? Nooo. They're all a bunch of liars. Fact is, Harpos a good economist. NDP - gimme, gimme, gimme. Harper looks funny. Harpers not charming. Harpers not on the cover of GQ. Wah,wah, wah.

  • I don't understand was it a secret that harper held these policies or wanted a majority? mindlessly hating on a politician is not a mature political position

  • You have it backwards - it takes someone with a mind and the smarts to understand why Harper is so terrible for Canada. If you don't understand why this video is here than you just don't get it.

  • With Harper and the Conservatives: the rich and powerful will get richer and more powerful and the those who are not rich or powerful will have a harder and more difficult time.. plus, our planet will continue to have accelerated climatic changes....a generalization yes... but bloody true.

  • I would encourage everyone to do some research and look into what actually happened before this election was called and I would like to warn all of you that have watched this video or have yet to watch it that you are not exactly getting the entire story. This video was made to make Stephen Harper look bad by taking only sections of his speech that day.

  • I hope some nut with a long gun shoots him, after he takes away the long gun registration. Fuck you Stephen Harper, you two face piece of shit.

  • @WHENIDOIDOWHATIWANT I can't stand him either, but wishing for his death...? Personally, I hope he comes to the realization that he would be much happier living in the United States than trying to turn Canada into a mini-US, and just decides to go away and never return.

  • @VolatileReaction Sure, if that's what it's gonna take, or people could not vote for him. If he gets a majority i'm moving to Holland. I can't live in a country where someone who's so obviously crooked is supported by the majority of the population. I mean the guy prescreens the people who come to his rallies, what a joke.

  • fucking ass hole shame on you dick

  • harper better than any liberal ndp moron period but he's true he gotta win a majority

  • Change de cravatte, câlisse!

  • I think Canada is ALREADY socialist............... according to my income tax HST

  • Harper you lying hypocrite...coalition? the only coalition this country has recently seen is the one you formed with the NDP and the Bloc to bring down the Martin government...quit trying to cover it up and falsely accusing others who never did it...how anyone could take you and your bs seriously is a mystery

  • I don't have a problem with anything he says, he's right.

  • Funny though that none of you losers will actually go out and vote! GO HARPER!

  • @batman8552 Based on what? Clearly these people care about what happens to Canada -- on and by the way, bullying them isn't exactly going to win you guys votes that YOU BADLY NEED RIGHT NOW.

  • @batman8552 I'm surprised that somebody as blind as you can type so well.

  • Harpers a bully and at the teat of Auntie sam. He lies and treats all he doesnt like with contempt. And coalition/Alliance are cousins!!

  • @oztang1

    Harper sands up for Canada

    F off

  • What a contemptuous monster. Heaven help Canada. He should not be running in this current election (2011) having been found in contempt of parliament. The first government in the Common Wealth EVER to be so judged. He should resign in shame, and not be allowed to run the C party or even come close to parliament for many years.

  • @zizimycat

He's a monster for saying he needs a majority so separatists and socialists won't back up a liberal government run by a incapable TOOL?

  • @VERTiGOVAMPIRE He's a monster for threatening to teach the legitimately elected majority a lesson -- not to mention his constant attacks on women and gays, his disrespect for the courts, etc.

(besides, Harper's financial record alone shows that he's less capable than anyone we've ever had -- oh, and the Bloc had nothing to do with the Lib/NDP coalition, though they did support Harper's coalition in 2005)

  • @BoredomCorner

Are you a dumbass? His financial record is 10x better than anything the Liberals or NDP have came up with to date, and out of all the Prime Ministers we have had he has to be the most frugal when it comes to spending. He doesn't attack women or gay's. You could probably misquote him a hundred times and think your a boss, just because he doesnt fund waste of time events such as the gay pride march doesnt mean he's anti gay. Nobody gives a fuck about them anyways.

  • @VERTiGOVAMPIRE Here you go champ. In 1993, the Conservatives chalked up a $38 Billion deficit. By 2006, under non-conservative leadership, this had been turned around into a $16 Billion surplus. Four years later, and Harper's Conservatives have returned Canada to a record $56 Billion deficit.

  • @riproarious typical lib bullshit. harper pared down the debt by $50 bil in 4 years, only to face a very serious recession where government revenues dropped $20 billion in one year. $17 billion more per year in expenses to healthcare and social programs made up the majority of the rest of the deficit.

  • how about the fact that a conservative government is like 'every man for himself' when a socialist government would actually care for humanity and this country. Canadian's under 55 do not want a conservative Canada! I'll be the one laughing when the old folks in 5-10 years will just have to deal with a left wing government, hopefully they will not be the majority age for once and we will finally have democracy in Canada!

NDP is the vote for today, anything else is voting for lies and nonsense!

  • Actually, the word "concise" is the first thing to come to mind. As someone who believes that in a democracy freedoms should increase, with the election of the Harper we've seen the slow erosion of charter rights, to the point where they can be suspended for political expediency. As I said, fuck Harper before he fucks you; and bye the bye I've good idea who you're voting for.

  • Fuck Stephen Harper before he fucks you........

  • @Odaggle - very well articulated - NOT! - Do you have any other words besides the "F" word in your vocabulary?

  • What a fucking asshole.

  • @avzett - get a life and some intelligence and stop cursing - bring a real argument as to why what he said is wrong?

  • THEY HAVE ENOUGH OIL TO LAST 400 YRS RIGHT HERE IN CANADA

OIL IS JUST PART OF THE GAME THESE PEOPLE PLAY IF YOUR NOT WORKING CLASS OR POOR YOUR NOT THE ONES WHO NEED GOVERNMENT AS WE KNOW IT

WE NEED OUR OWN LAND BORN GOVERNMENT WITH KNOW OVER SEAS INTREST

OTHER THAN TO BETTER ALL THE PEOPLE OF THE LAND

THE BASICS EACH IDIVIDUAL IS A FRACTION OF THE UNIVERSE LETS KEEP IT THAT WAY IN CANADA VOTE OTHER TURN OF YOUR TV ITS CON TIME IN

    CANADA

  • Comment removed

  • harper is building a police state at home , hes out there robbing the oil with bush , and obama , when will this war be over ? Some say not till the oil is gone or until they just give it to us so 100 years , the TSA are molesting my grandmother at the air ports , but thats nothing compared to the dollar crashing and the amero currancy thats coming , great were going to be paying crazy prices , but dont worry harper is spending 9billion on more jails so broke people beware

  • Well it's Official,

The Cons put out the Directive:

It's NOT my government and it's NOT your government- It's been directed that the "Government of Canada" in federal communications should be replaced with the "Harper Government."

Silly Canadians! who thought they were governed by laws& not a man.

    * Harper is like Louis XIV & his divine right of kings:BS "L'Etat, c'est moi(The state is me)."

What a f**king arrogant egotistical asshole!

Pucker up you "Conservative DOGS-, NO LIBERAL WILL!

  • Wtf? Wanting to win a majority in next election. We will have a majority next election, just deal with it libs. You fucked up out country enough, and got enough of our soldiers killed in the invasion of afghanistan I hope you never even get a chance.

  • @NorStarReviews You realise that not only did Stephen Harper support the invasion of Afghanistan, he advocated for Canada to join the U.S. when invading Iraq?

The Liberals joined the Afghanistan war out of our obligation to fellow NATO members. If a NATO member is attacked, it is our job to come to their defence. It was Harper who extended the mission date.

Get your facts straight. Look at the polls. The Cons are nowhere near obtaining a majority government.

  • i would just like to point out the fact that actually it was a liberal paul martin that had us follow our nato obligation into afghanistan and per nato's request and a vote passed by the canadian parliament ( including the liberals ) the mission was extended .... might want to get your facts straight

  • @StarCommander999 Actually it WASN'T put to a vote.

  • @fatoni698. What I mean to say is that the PM is held responsible to his party, but not to the voters, so there is a conflict of interests.

  • @fatoni698. In truth, I think the real problem -- of which, Harper is just a symptom -- is the Party system itself. If the PM were held personally responsible for his actions the country would be better off. If the PM completely destroys the country, politically, the worst that happens is he doesn't get reelected. He still gets paid $200,000 /yr. no matter how shitty a job he does, no matter what campaign promises he breaks.

  • This video is so full of fail. Lets take words out of context and insert captions to make what he said look bad. And besides, poll after poll has shown the majority of canadians want the gun registry gone. Whats wrong with that? Thats democracy.

  • @fatoni698 I agree, you don't have to insert words to make Harper look bad, he does it all on his own. He's basically saying, "Let's make democracy in Canada meaningless! The Conservatives are they only government that, under any circumstances, should ever be made available to the voters."

  • @Wallyrus What are you talking about? You have a very twisted view of this video and what he is saying. Even with the editing he doesn't sound bad to me. He's just saying they need a majority to get the job done and its true. It's no different than ignatieff saying he needs to win the election. And besides if any side of the political spectrum is screwing with democracy it is the left and their BS coalition plans.

  • Conservatives get out please

  • canada needs a nationalist party in office..We need to unite and kick out the conservos out with guns if necessary

  • What the hell is this? You put some font at the bottom and then play some random clip that sounds incriminating. "Harper on women, gays, and visible minorities..." Where's the reference to those groups in the actual clip? This is pure stereotyping of Conservatives - it really reminds me of FOX news the way you cut this. What did you expect him to say when speaking to conservatives. These aren't secret agendas he's just speaking candidly to the party about policy and election goals.

  • @IanEColeman yeah but his goals you're talking about are over 20 years late from the actual reality we're living with. he could have been a good sheriff back then, but right now, we must move on... which means buzz off conservatives, buzz off harper, get back to your ranch buddy

  • @extalinours. I really didn't get that impression. I'm half way to communist, but this whole video stinks of mindless left wing failure. This kind of crap disgusts me and makes me ashamed to live in a country where so moronic tactics are tolerated or taken seriously. You're no better than the people who watch FOX news. No wonder we're doomed.

  • Harper is the least of our problems. We Canadians need to free ourselves from this democratic bind and over throw the Queen (impossible), so we're screwed.

  • @Keezy73 Why do we need to overthrow the Queen?

  • Another mention is that Liberals and Conservatives alike have prorogued Parliament over the course of our history. EACH of these proroguations can be debatead as to wether or not it is a good thing or not. BUT the fact still remains that Harper is not the only one to have prorogued Parliament. So to state that he is "blocking democracy", like many Liberals say, is the same as saying that every Prime Minister in history has "blocked democracy" at some point in their career.

  • Harper may be a bit tight when it comes to media and PR, and he might not be enough of a clown for you people that love to watch politics as entertainment. But at the end of the day he is for LOWER taxes and SMALLER government. And thats just what we need right now in Canada. People have grown way to complacent and lazy with our social programs and stupidity lately and we need to turn around. Canadians need to change and realize the government isn't there to take care of them.

  • I would like somebody on here to prove to me why the leader of his own party should not want a majority government and should not think negatively about his opponents.

There really is no answer. There is absolutely nothing wrong with wanting a majority government.

If you think Ignateeif himself DOESN'T want a majority then you are so badly mistaken and misiformed.

  • @UWFfounder

The point of this video is that he is not willing to talk about this stuff openly all the time, he is being publically aware of his image, something a true leader and prime minister shouldn't be, a good prime minister wouldn't be afraid to be exactly what he is, for if he/she beleived truly in themself and their positions, they wouldn't hide them, or be afraid to defend them.

  • socttysmithh

why did you cut off what harper was saying at 1:06?

Ya fuckin idiot....put up the entire speech. Harper is a good Prime Minister and the conservatives are the only government we need.

  • @th3ha1og0d

so, ya, fuck democracy, we only need one party, lets remove all parties, and just keep harper as our democratic permanent leader, sounds a little like the nazi parties historic power heist, are u sure you know what the fuck your talking about?

  • @Earthlessness

Go ahead and vote NDP if you want. EIther you're poor as fuck or you're just an idiot.

We don't need Layton or Ignatieff. It would be a disaster. Also in the off chance you go green, fuck them too. If they took up office they wouldn't have a fucking clue.

  • @th3ha1og0d

I like how you say it would be a disaster, but look what Harpers done, he doesn't listne to the people, he has no clue what representation BY POPULATION really means, and that its a pinnacle of democracy. He's an authoritarian, if you think him prorogueing parliament is ok, then you sir are fucked, your a fascist, and i dont care what you think.

  • @Earthlessness

authoritarian is better than douchebag NDP-BLOC-LIBERAL coalition. people like you should be booted from our country before your twisted mind fucks it up.

the private sector would be crushed. we can't have that. People need jobs, and money, but I guess you wouldn't know that, playing guitar and eating popcorn chicken in your mothers basement. fuck off

  • @th3ha1og0d

Obviously you're fucked dude, why don't you go back to the fucking middle ages when there was a monarch and you didn't have to use your mind to decide your life.

  • actually we still do have a monarch. Queen Elizabeth II. Technically she is Canada's head of state (although her power is more symbolic than anything else).

I like Harper. He comes across as a smart, upstanding individual. He will defend our country's sovereignty. He won't cave to the OIC at the UN. He supports Israel. You left wingers might have other plans but believe me a coalition government would FUCK THINGS UP.

If we have it your way we might as well bow down to Sharia law now.

  • @th3ha1og0d

I'm aware there's a monarch, she may be symbolic but the governor generals are not, being that harper had to get permissio nfrom them to prorogue parliament i would say the entire process isn't quite symbolic. Which to me is ridiculous, why is there still a monarch? But anyways, u missed the point of what i was saying. Get off the net and stop fucking up peoples heads dude.

  • @Earthlessness

Fucking up peoples heads? The real fucking up will begin when your Bloc-NDP-Liberal Coalition gains power.

    Stupid fucking cunt

  • @th3ha1og0d

Other than your "cunt" comment you are absolutely right.

  • Comment removed

  • @UWFfounder

i never implied he was a monarch, i only stated that if you believe its ok that harper prorogued parliamnt, u should get your head right. Democracy, aka - public representation, free media/speech, official opposition, plebecite, journalism are so important that if any of them removed we would be in danger of a repeat of facism which existed in the past. I dunno if you're aware, but Harper doesn't allow free speech at his conferences, you have to be selected to ask the question.

  • Respond to this video...

Harper isn't blocked by Liberals and NDP, to say that and believe it is stupid in my opinion. Official opposition is responsible for keeping a balanced viewpoint on what the party in power is doing, it is basically sacred in terms of representation especiallyt when you have a minority government. Its especially cowardly to prorogue parliament, which is also so important and couldve actualyl helped harper retune his policy. He is a coward, he hides his beliefs.

  • @Earthlessness

Harper has a minority government. That is a fact. So when he wants to pass a Bill, the Liberal opposition plays their games and they block it. Thats not keeping a watchful eye, thats political games. To imply that Harper is playing political games and the opposition isn't is absolutely untrue.

Another point; the memory of a Canadian seems like a very short one. Was it okay for Jean Chretien to prorogue parliament 4 times during his majority in Parliament? (1/2)

  • At the end of the day, its a minority government. So if something passes that YOU personally don't like, its actually intelligent to blame Harper AND the opposition for this. If something DOES NOT pass, and you are upset about this, well then once again, that is the oppositon. That is the way things work with a minority government.

TheFactThatThe media tries to paint Harper as someone who is "ruling" over Parliament is sad. Chretien had a "ruling". HarperIsWalking a tightrope (2/2)

  • @UWFfounder

Harper is walking a tightrope. I agree.

  • @Earthlessness

    1:05

Should Canada's foreign policy be determined by the UN? NOPE.

Unless of course you want the Islamic voting bloc to determine our future. Funny how you leave this out. Have some fucking respect for the freedom and sovereignty of our country. Ignatieff would be bending over to the UN.

  • @th3ha1og0d

I dunno what you're talking about. explain yourself better.

  • @Earthlessness

And Jean Chretien prorogueing Parliament 4 times was acceptable? Trudeau practically Prorogueing Parliament for almost an entire year was acceptable as well?

Harper may be a bit tight when it comes to the media and PR, but at the end of the day he is for lower taxes and SMALLER government. And thats just what Canada needs.

  • hes takin us into the nwo.he dont take no vaccines.

  • harper''s a fucking idiot!! how can any of us trust a guy who's hair never moves??

  • fuck liberals, unless you want an idiot like obama whos destroying the United States.

  • Holy shit, I live in the soo. I was just searchin videos and i ended up here1

  • Liberals.. (OR GREEN).. why not?

  • vote liberalsssssssssssss

  • vote liberalsssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssss

  • Someone must destroy this man by all means possible. Annihilate the Son of a bitch.

  • @dethheart F' you pinko.

  • Fuck you harper.! Fuck you!

  • Sounds good to me..... or am i missing something? oh i know whats wrong. there must be some of you out there who were wishing Stephen Harper was secretly a socialist. man this video must have effed your days up

  • Go Fuck yourself Harper, ya worthless piece of shit!

  • Screw you HARPER!!

  • I don't see whats wrong with that. A politician needs to get his or her party's agenda done and with a majority that will be much easier.

  • @MrMellingen: Stephen Pinocchio Harper agenda is to ruin Canada and the people.

  • @newstream2010 Well I guess that depends on your political view.

In Norway we've had a majority government for 5 years now that has worked pretty ok. Although they have become increasingly arrogant and unwilling to listen to the people. Luckily the good thing about democracy is that when they don't listen to the people they won't get re-elected.

  • @MrMellingen Well, you see, accusing some parties of being socialists is not an impartial speech. It is a shame to see a men which such important responsibilities (which he, I personally think, can't take) being so immature. You will probably tell me that he has his opinion, which is ok. But, for example, having an unknown men saying ''that men is stupid'' is not a big problem because no one will care. But, if a politician say ''that men is stupid'', what he say has a lot more impact and weight.

  • I hope Stephen Harper Slips on a step and breaks his face. Pig.

  • Comon liberals, find a leader! The only reason this guy is in charge is because there's no-one else to oppose him.

  • @olelumpy Completely agree with you on this point! If the Liberals actually had a strong and unifying leader and one with balls, Harper would long ago have been kicked out of office. What the Liberals need is another Trudeau, someone who can fight Harper with his own bullying tactics and smearing partisan shots. Truth be told, I always thought Harper won the 2006 Election less so because he was a stellar politician, but more so because Canadians were angry with the Martin Liberal Government!

  • Fuck stephen Harper. He couldn't wait to kiss Bush's ass. Liberal all the way!

  • Stephen harper is a piece of shit and once all of the baby boomers retire. and eventually..you know get where there going. Young people like myself who are more in touch with the modern world will begin to finnally kick barking buffoons like this piece of shit out of office :)

Also leadership for any other politcal party is as bad as harper, infact all of the leaders are just as spineless as harper...so sad

  • Harper is refreshing and I'm happy with his leadership. Thanks for posting it.

  • OK, I'm not a huge Harper fan but; 1. A speech to constituents at a quasi rally is not "behind closed doors" and 2. These comments are pretty much the same as comments he makes in parliament, every watch CPAC?

  • Dumb!

  • "Left wing fringe groups!" "A Liberal government propped up by the Socialists and separatists!" - Harper

He has it all covered. LOL When not wearing his rightist hat, Harper swings a little left of the middle, back over to the right and then sneaks out. lol

  • @solarcradle and "left wing ideologues"

  • Someone needs to teach YOU a lesson, Harper.

  • if the conservatives get a majority here in canada, i'm leaving.....i'm not staying to watch this country fall apart under his douche......goodbye canadian sovereignty? i hope not.....

  • As the "tea party" crowd rushes to respond to specific criticisms of the new fundamentalist conservatives, I can't help but notice a pattern. There is no substantive reply to a substantive critique....Instead there is outrage at the criticism. Period. Partisan politics is a kind of fundamentalism and, as such, tends to practice moral absolutism that manifests itself in demands that criticism be silenced rather than addressed. But, that doesn't make those demands to be quiet valid, or ethical.

  • okay harper is not a fascist, that's ridiculous.. he and his party are calling for an elected senate.. does that sound like a fascist to you? And it's not just red necks that vote conservative, it's people who believe in less government interference in the market, touger on crime, and strong national defense. People who vote for him are people like me those who have economics degrees or careers in business. Your comments are totally insulting to fiscal conservatives.

  • @lobsterman91 A party that threatens Parliament, bullies and silences criticism, intimidates the press, and calls a peaceful protest group radicals, is sure as hell not democratic.

Harper's insulting to fiscal conservatives too, especially since he never really was one.

  • What's so bad about wanting a majority? I'm pretty sure that every single party wants to win a majority in the House of Commons. And the other stuff is just outlining his party platform. Nothing evil here, just a smart man planning for the future.

  • Harper is a smart man who preys on naive and apathetic Canadians. His fascist agenda appeals to those who are uneducated, uninformed or just plain short-term minded. Nothing evil here? Check the track record of economic mismanagement, ecological butchering, democracy killing, red neck leadership. It's time to wake up people!

  • Now what was so wrong with that ?? Nothing !! He is 100% right.

  • @KevMait76 He's right about gays and women deserving no rights, or that Parliament needs to be taught a lesson?

    Go fuck yourself.

  • "There should be an aptitude and or intelligence test required to vote in this country"

Only an assclown who refers to himself as 'EducatedWorldCitizen' would post something so elitist and stupid.

    Idiot.

  • Whether a liberal, conservative, socialist, or capitalist, there is nothing to like about a fascist. The only reason why Steve has any support is that the average Canadian, and hence the average voter, is mediocre. From running from torture allegations, to bankrupting the country, to embarrassing us in international negotiations Stephen Harper is truly a national disgrace. The uneducated and uninformed have Harper. The rest of us debate the merits of the other choices.

  • @raynus1 Considering that no hard-right winger I've ever encountered has any grasp or care about reality, you're one to talk.

  • Folks, according to numerous EKOS polls, there is a direct correlation between education level, age, and the likelyhood to vote for Harper. The older and less educated the voter, the more likely the person is to vote for Harper. Not surprisingly younger voters with university degrees are less likely to support Mr. Harper. It is crystal clear folks, Harper gets his support from red neck Canada. The way to defeat him is to get an increasing number of younger and educated voters out to vote!

  • To say that only the uneducated vote conservative is insulting. People vote conservative because they want a small government with less taxes and less regulation. There are extremely intelligent people on both sides and there are uninformed voters on both sides. Even if this "study" is real it doesn't mean anything, of course older people vote conervative because they make more money and dont benifit from social programs like young people do. Everyone votes in their own self interest.

  • @lobsterman91 When conservative supporters stop trying to convince me that North America was always meant to be a theocracy, that being gay is a choice/disease, that I have no rights because I'm a moderate agnostic, that torture is legal as long as we do it, etc. THEN you can get on a high horse about your collective intelligence.

  • Harper is not the best ever, but he's the most solid of any of the options we have to choose from. And he does understand what no liberal ever has - leadership. A liberals only mandate is to not do anything that may offend anyone, keep in everyone's good books, and win the next election. Harper has taken some stands on issues he knew would create controversy, and even enemies. Chretien was a simple yes-man, the new guy is worse. Layton will take a stand, he is principled, but just wrong:(

  • Try the socialist NDP, they will jack up corporate taxes by 85% and at the same time increase federal income tax by a staggering amount and Liberal is just want to suck more money from hard ordinary working canadian. If Harper is not a favorable choice, who else ? Me ????
