Amazing album. One of my top 20 ever. Me and Howard Hughes, Eva Braun... very on the ball. This is best written of all their songs. Very dont stand so close to me but grittier.
I'm so glad to see that the Boomtown Rats are appreciated on this forum. Yes, they were a great group that put on a fabulous stage show back in the late 70s/early 80s. I was quite lucky to have seen them in NYC back then. What a show they put on!
I remember seeing these first on Marc Bolans show singing 'Lookin after no.1'-bloody wonderful. They were always on TOTPs after, always looked great too.

i often read these days that this band have been unjustly written out of punk rock history but like several other bands at that time they were never 'in' to begin with!
Trust me, this band were a big punk band at the time. I was there. The difference is they had the sense to more on when punk faded. As did Blondie, The Clash, The Stranglers and The Banshees.
@PaulBriden amazing how theyr overlooked-pratically everyone in my class bought rat trap-they were the punk/new wavers that actually had hits, let alone no.1s. I loved these & gen x, rizzillos, x ray spex, the damned best
@thelittlebombardier . Yes your right, it was the same when i was at school too. They were huge, and yes i agree they are overlooked, but they did influence all those that were old enough to buy records in 1979.
a great song, i think sir bob liked singing about schools as he sang i dont like monsays too. he always good at what he sang and always will be, i will always look up to him, thank you bob for such great music ang lyrics you knew exactley what was what,
still have a thing for the keyboard player, after all these years.

Bob Geldof never saw himself as Mick Jagger. It was the media and press who made that story up.

so the punk was almost destroyed for those stupid void groups, but guess what! the punk's not dead, by the way I don't like this shit, hell god!

I admit that real punk is Sex Pistols, Sham 69, X-Ray Spex, Siouxsie Sioux, Ramones and so on...
But no one really cares about what you hate.
