just to throw this out there, since i see it on all 'street legal car' videos. the whole POINT of a street legal competition, is a car that can stand regular every day driving, hence the cruise done before hand, and can turn around and run on the strip without breaking down. its an nhra event. nhra standards. so for the tire comment, i drive my car the the strip, throw on some radials, doesnt make my car not street legal? lol bet ur ass im driving my car home :D puts a twist in racing.

Again, if you actually read what I said, I commented in response to someone's question about what street legal actually meant. This car is street legal. But again "street legal" is a relative statement. The car is friggin badass, no denying that. I simply was answering someone's question about how the car is street legal. All that I'm saying is that street legal NHRA etc. standards do not necessarily mean that you can take the car for a joy ride. That's all I meant, and speaking of emissions, alot of the older cars do not meet emissions for todays standards. Just meant to make a point not have a guy call me a dumbass over the internet. DOT drag radials usually have 1 tread line that make them street legal. I am NOT talking about headlights, tailights, unexposed fuel tank etc, talking about emissions and exst.

DOT drag radials are just that, Department of Transportation approved tires, legal to be driven on public highways! What makes it a street car? the suspension?,The fact that it can go down the road?,that it runs on pump gas? all the lights work? I am confused alot of guys say they have street cars how do you decide what is what? I have a 69 camaro all steel body all glass windows, stock firewall and floorboards, all working lights it does have a full tube chassis. It runs 7.90's on 93 octane with 6 pounds of boost. would you consider that a street car? thanks

I am not computer savy but I will try in the next few weeks to did up a video displaying a pass and the time. OH YEAH my car is all steel except the hood, stock firewall and floorboards back to the tubs. I know some of you think you need 700 inches to go somewhere but its not the size of your worm its how you wiggle it bitch. and the 1/8 mile is for pussy's that dont have a real car.

Ahh, actually? You are wrong. If your car came from the factory without belts, you don't need them (in Maine and most other states). If it had lap belts, you need them but NOT the shoulder ones. That's for operating your personal vehicle on public roads.

BUT if you're RACING "street car" you need to follow the rules of the class, whatever they maybe at the racetrack or series you choose.

@abzimme yes, its street legal by todays standards. It doesn't have to pass emissions, because of the grandfathering, but it still has to have mufflers, DOT tires, turn signals, full interior, working brake lights, head lights ect. Plus, it has to pass tech at the track to go 7s (ie full rollcage, transblanket, parachute ect).
