Look, Yes without Jon Anderson is like Led Zeppelin without Robert Plant, or Queen without Freddie Mercury, or even Journey without Steve Perry!
It's the singers souls that made the music truly special, I have nothing against replacement singers, but to say that this is just as good as the original band is bit overreaching.
I look at it like this.....if you were in a classroom or a lecture hall doing a master class with any Yes members, you would learn something...enjoy the music...and come away just a bit more knowlegable.
I think they sound amazing, and Beniot and Oliver are great.
It's an honor to sit in any audience listening to Steve Howe or Chris Squire...no matter who they are sharing the stage with.

Its a shame that yes members cannot wait for the unique, the most wonderfull voice that progressive rock gave us , Mr Jon Anderson, the soul of YES, this is NOT Yes.
I saw the show in Toronto, to bad Rick and Jon were not there
but it was still great. Steve and Chris and Allan are enough to make it Yes for me. If you squinted your eyes you would think Benoit was Jon. Steve needs to eat a hamburger or two, he looks about 90 years old.
The backing vox seem intended to cover up "jon's" vox, but they take away from what sounds to me to be a pretty good version. (Perhaps those are fans singing along, but they sound a bit amplified.) Wakeson does pretty well, too. I wish they'd come to CA. I can't take time off to head east this season. Howe and Squire are always a pleasure to hear. Thanks for the video, Todd.
hey backstagetodd!! didja get backstage?? lol!! thanx SO MUCH for posting this dude!!
i cant seem to type AND clap at the same time-hehe!! 4 years is WAY too long to wait, so i'll be in detrout wed nov 26th!! [to hell with turkey dinner-it's time to ROCK!]i dont mind the offpitch singing of the audience-shows me that they were having a GREAT TIME!! wooHOO!
I'm worried about Alan... doesn't seem all with it. I'm proud of Oliver...Benoit ... yeah, he does have a Jon sound. Squire?? can't hear the thundering bass anymore. sigh
I was in Hamilton for the opening show and believe me Squire's "thundering base" was there all right and Alan was near perfect. A fantastic show!!! Please come east again Yes.
All you "this is not yes" types need to grow up. Benoit Is a great choice and i feel is fucking nailing it! Well done Benoit on the set you are performing and also well done on putting up with all this BULLSHIT from the Jon mafia.
I agree they should have made the setlist a little fresher (and I still can't believe they did Soon! I just feel that HAS to be a Jon piece...) I'd swoon if I could see any vids of the band playing Drama tracks though... that's the biggest draw to this tour!
But LOL at the fan singing along next to the taper. Riverrrrrrrrr. And he sings about as well as me (which is to say, horribly ;) )
Trevor Horn>>>>>>>>>>>Robot>>>>>>Steve Howe singing>>>>>>nothing>>>>>>a duck dressed like Jon Anderson>>>>>> A dolphin singing Roundabout>>>>>Rick Wakeman singing at Rock´n roll prophet>>>> a broom with a microphone>>>Eric Cartman singing>>>>>Benoit.
The sound quality doesn't do Benoit's voice justice. I was there last night to witness it, and Benoit did a VERY good job IMO. Bravo Benoit and Oliver for answering the call and surpassing everyones expectations!
This guy has a superb voice. AND the balls to stand up there with such confidence and style - my hat is off to him a Super performance for a first night.
Benoit seems to be doing a really great job while Jon is recovering. I for one am very happy that Chris got Benoit into the team. Don't forget that while Jon is recovering, Chris and Co still want to play Yes music and many other people out there still want to hear Chris, Alan and Steve playing that music!
we can only hope the DAY jon is healthy enough to endure singing and touring again, he will rejoin his bandmates, end this "Yes Tribute Band" nonsense, and reform YESSSSSSSS!
Looks like you guys prefer not having Yes touring at all than having Yes touring with a singer other than Jon. I don't. And I think Benoit is allowing Jon to recover properly and, at the same time, is allowing the band to perform to their fans. My favorite Yesman has always been Chris and although I would love to see Jon singing along with him, I am glad they are on the road again with such an amazing setlist! Just my two cents on this.
It is high time that Jon Anderson is once more invoked along with his Holy blessings .

They're fans singing along.
During the "Sad preacher..." section Chris is playing Harmonica and Steve's nowhere near his microphone.

Benoit David hits the right notes, has the right presence on stage and does the job of front man quite well!
And unlike Jon -- he doesn't throw a fit about singing DRAMA songs. :-)
