Personally speaking, many reasons but the main culprit was the very boring formula used. Crisis occurs that can only be stopped by playing a card game, Kaiba refuses to admit till the end that Yugi might be the one to handle this, minor characters show up to be beaten in card games, characters that don't play cards will have one episode to be useful, then they go to the scrap heap. Power of Friendship (led by Yugi/Yami Yugi only) saves the day. Rinse and repeat ad nauseam.

Why not try with the ending from .hack/SIGNS, Yashashi Yoake? It's a great song and it involves a love affair...heck the plot even fits the parody (not like I'd give away the end hehe),
DEFINITELY. Heck, I even made it my computer opening once and it still remains a fav on my Ipod. Considering that you like to use gay couples, Hack/signs is perfect for a video. Of course, I'm thinking of a parody of the ending involving characters from another anime, but whatever seems to fit.
Yashashi Yoake is indeed a great song and I would love to see it used.
