  • Hey what kind of exhaust do you have?

  • I am pretty sure that I have a 10 speed Schwinn that would beat that guys accord.

  • I had a 91' formula with the TPI 350 and ran a 14.5X @ 105mph in the 1/4 with the trans not shifting into 3rd unless i let off the throttle a few times. Really messed up my time but it was BONE STOCK.

  • WANT UR CAR

  • oooohhhh sounds beautiful!!!

  • @IROCwarriorAMC88 ya i could have been wrong but you dont have to be a douch about it,i got my time from zeoro to sixty times.com,third gen tech, and chevy mag. i already admitted to the owner i was off on my times, and he did say a 14.8 with 2.77 gears, take into account every car is slightly diff.and depending on the driver who ran the time, and the car weather ect,a 15 is possible, and you were the one who called me out on having an accord and to go back to school, being a pos basically...

  • @IROCwarriorAMC88 The L98 was a damn sight quicker than 15.1. That looks like the low end for the 305.

  • @IROCwarriorAMC88 first off get ur facts right i dont own an accord or anything else foriegn two im not in school i work at a shop that works on everything three i was going off of gm's specs 1990 ran a 14.1 fastest iroc an l98 was a 15.1 and considreing he did a few bolt ons and a rear end swap. my personal ride is a 89 gmc sierra with the tbi 350 700r4 10 bolt rear w3.42 gears full posi, curently working on an ls1 swapp, also a 1953 chevy 210 sports coupe with a mild 350 so u can go fuck ur self

  • @IROCwarriorAMC88 exactly, these engines are torque monsters that respond very well to mods. the L98s were starving for air from the factory and respond crazy to better airflow, exhaust, and higher lift cam. i have seen a stock L98 with just a centrifugal blower and no other mods put down 350rwhp. not to mention the 350 TPIs are bullet proof.

  • I used to have a 1986 Mercury Capri RS 5.0L but I always loved the look of the Camaro. I wish I could have found or picked up a 5.0L stick (I think they were around in 86).

  • if its the l98 package it ran a 15 flat, even with exhaust youre barelly into the 14s,no way is it a low 14 either, and depending on the millage, and the loser with the accord needs to cosider the camaros wieght and that its how many years older/differense in technologie

  • @chevymike1991xx Nope. I had it to the track numerous times. My best was a 14.0x.

  • @c0olj then it has more than exhaust if it runs a 14.0 in the quarter,it takes quite a bit of power gain or tuneing to improve even by one sec. just saying maybe it had gears swaped and a shift kit its hard to say if ur not the original owner

  • @chevymike1991xx - I got the car bone stock. It had a 2.77 Posi rear (verified). It ran a 14.8@93MPH stock. I added hooker 2055 headers/Y Pipe, piped cat, 3" catback, airfoil and a AFPR. It then ran a 14.04@98MPH. A healthy L98 with 2.7x gears will run high 14's. A healthy L98 with the performance gears will be around 14.2-14.3. But now I did a H/C/I swap, along with a Moser 12 bolt with 3.73s. It's much funner now-lol

  • @c0olj i bet i did a full posi swap in my truck, had the trany built, exhaust cool air, wider tires improved it alot, now just need to buld the engine, but im also saving for an irocz,i cant bring my self to own/drive a ricer f the mpgs lol

  • @c0olj - I ran a 14.6 in my 85 lb9 (305) trans am with just headers and cam with 3.23 gears... you should easily be able to run 14s.

  • @chevymike1991xx There are plenty of documented L98's in the mid to low 14's. It's not as common as a good chunk of them run high 14's or low 15's but they are out there. Most L98's are beat to death anyways...

  • @c0olj what year is your iroc-z it sounds really good

  • @chevymike1991xx damn...makes me wonder what was done to mine, i had an 86 with a L98 swapped in, mine was quicker than this,,,,but i never did an officially timed run so i couldnt give ya an et, but i notice these L98's can be sick with a little time n money

  • @CBRHurricane6 i agree they can be really mean,i was just going off of what everyone else told me,part of the reason was to findout what this guy had done to it besides exhaust

  • @chevymike1991xx yea they sure can mine had an HD Police crank, Accel EVERYTHING dist (w/ a supercoil) to plugs, K&N air and oil, the air foil was punched out, heads ported n matched. 3 in flowmaster system, the 700R4 built up, someone changed the rear end, the speedo was 10 fast., it had the 305's tack...but had the 145 clock, almost like someone was cloning the 1LE Setup...knew it wasnt tho, had t-tops, and power stuff...plus the L98 Wasnt avail in 86, but it was yellow.....

  • @CBRHurricane6 and i did a lil lookin up...guess yellow ones were less common. but anyway, the frankenstein Iroc pulled all the way to the red, spun em both....wonder if someone may have got the 1LE rear end maybe...i just wish they hadnt spraybombed the yellow w/black primer. but damn man she moved, hit the brake just to break it loose n she'd stay put....chirp the tires slap shifting with the b&m, took a semi tight u turn off ramp at around 70 and didnt chirp a wheel....i dont miss her do i?

  • @CBRHurricane6 sounds pretty cool my budy had an 88 rs in high school one of his many camaros since he traded fairly often, had a 305 in it we put a 350 in it 700r4 trans k&n cool air intake flow pro exhaust wich we switched to flowmasters blew out the rear put a new one in had 373 gears turns out the old one was from a v6 with idk gears since they were destroyed lol, painted it dark blue metalic and sold/traded for a 94 rs with the 3.4 duel 3in flowmasters auto. wasnt as fun, impresive for a v6

  • @chevymike1991xx yea, a camaro just doesnt seem like one without an 8, even if its not a built up 8, my fiancee had an 88 iroc that WAS supposed to have the L98, i didnt know her then, but when i bought mine i let her drive it, i figure she had one, she can handle it. after she drove it a bit, and a nice smokey horror show later (gave me wood n a half i can admit) bad ass iroc with a woman that can drive it LOL, but anyway she said mine had WAY more balls than her 350, just a good motor LOL

  • yup how many hondas do you see around from this time frame ummmm none thats how many. where people get that jap cars are more reliable than american cars is beyond me. seriously how many 70's and 80's jap cars do you see around? even the 90's jap cars are making there way to the scrap heap. but you see tons of american cars still going strong.

  • try that honda against my 86 iroc-z28 puttin out around 400 u fucking ricer id rape ur ass and never leave second gear american muscle will be around forever while in 10 years your honda will be in the scrap yard

  • hey, everyone's got to start somewhere.

  • DSM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • i have an 87 with the l98 350. i burned a honda accord today. went from 55 to gone faster than he could say v-tech.

and If you think gm sucks, just wait and see what'll be towing your ass when you break down. I doubt it'll be a ridgeline. fag.

  • @goodtimebuddy123 And when he breaks down, the price he'll pay to import parts.

  • the fag talking about the Honda fuck you dude you dont know shit if its not smoking now i give it a year you get your self a good v8 you can run the hell out of it every day for 15 years and not smoke only good four en car is a vw and like the guy below me said this is probably a stock 20 year old i rock go ahead and fuck with hell a built 250 or 300 inline six wont be able to hang

  • @86camaroboy dude, dont let it rattle ya, my wifes Grand am GT can smoke a honda Lmao....granted i was driving but still, it was a newer civic hatchback....knew it was like 10 or 2011 cause it was super ugly, it had a fart can, those annoying blue tint headlights....and he got SMOKED. so then i slowed down, let him catch up...then smoked him again!!!!! about the only thing honda makes id even consider desireable ....three letters CBR!

  • Sounds good man! Dont mind the ricers. Personally, I would rather push a chevy than drive an import. LOL

  • Sounds nice man. IROC-Z is such a nice car. I would love to get one as a project car to restore :D They clean up nice thats for sure...

  • @MrShawn305 they would be good project cars i gotta 86 that needs minor work

  • @kharper39 - Do you have your purse with you and wear giant sun glasses when you drive that thing? lol

  • @c0olj we wear leather when we drive our badass irocs

  • @c0olj and he has a dude giving him road head as well!!

My friend has the exact same car back in 2002.. It ran 14.70s box stock... with shorties and a better exhaust (no converter) he ran 14.30s..

  • @kharper39 first of all, no, it wudent, second of all, when you tell people you have an accord, are they like "wow, thats Awesome!" ? no, they arent. ill bet if you told them you had a iroc z they wud tho. fool.

  • @kharper39 you are a fag, a Honda Accore? jesus..

  • @kharper39 you are a fag, a Honda Accord? jesus..

  • @kharper39 I'd like to see an 80's accord beat an 80's camaro. your accord couldn't hope to sniff the exhaust from an LS1... Better reconsider your opinion of GM old man.

  • @kharper39 wanna try your accord against my 98 camaro with 550hp? lol good luck

  • @kharper39 ...but your Accord has about as much character as a Camary. People will never want an Accord twenty years from now....a Z28 of this era is a collectors car.

  • @kharper39 even if it did its never better then plain ol american muscle and it wont sound near as orgasmic haha

  • @kharper39 maybe destroy in sense of mpg

  • @kharper39 how much money do you have to spend on that crappy accord to keep up with a 20+ year old 350 powered camaro. put the same money into a third gen and it will blow your doors off.

  • @kharper39 only when its being towed

  • @kharper39 I have a 4 wheel drive 3/4 ton Chevy that will dominate your Accord.

  • @kharper39 what would you expect? he is from japan..

  • @kharper39 why are you alive

  • @kharper39 Sir, i'm afraid you have GM confused with ford, and that is not cool.

  • @kharper39 I see a lot more Gm vehicles at the track than hondas. There's a good reason for that.

  • These are some of the best sounding cars IMHO.

  • your right.. nothing special

  • @jogrannymonkey - True. We all can't be cool and take videos of fart cannons at Taco Bell can we Johnny Tran? LOL.

  • I also have a picture of the motor of my iroc-z z28 87 camaro if u guyz could tell me if its the original motor

  • @CamarozOwn the only way to know if its the orignial engine is to check the block casting numbers against your vin number. any small block. i.e. a 283, 305, 307, 327, 350, and 400 look the same at a glance. its all in the casting numbers on the parts. message me for more info on where to look and i can give you all the detials on what you got.

  • oh hey man i just got back online and i checked that and it wasnt the orignal motor the original motor was a L98 the motor used on prior corvettes man

  • @CamarozOwn bro you can't tell if it's a 305 or 350 by just looking at the motor.. and to tell if it's the original is even harder.

  • Yo guyz i have a question for any one out there i have a eddlebrock 350 carbarautor motor in my iroc-z z28 camaro is it just as fast as the 305 fuel port injection which is better?

  • Mine looks faster because I have the 85 MPH speedo.. lmao

  • It took you 10 seconds to go from 25-76 mph. You're not running low 14's.

  • @anx1300c - It's been to the track plenty of times. Best with just bolt ons was a 14.0@98mph. Not stock anymore though.

  • @c0olj hey thats what my 89 4x4 chevy step side runs lol

  • @c0olj lololol oktayyy

  • nothing like some torque in the morning

you should put in a t56 6 speed manual

  • Sea foam that motor, air intake, high end spark plugs an stuff like that and u may see a difference IF u have all those things then awesome it runs smooth and the way it should

  • Hey! your low on gas to like me! must be a iroc thing ;D

  • @potanda . After this vid, I did heads/cam/intake, along with 30lb injectors. Now I'm always REALLY low on gas. Haha.

  • @c0olj headers increase your fuel economy...

  • @38snipshow Yes...

  • @c0olj can you post a vid of yur car with all that new shit done to it?

  • @38snipshow Check out my other videos. They're all there.

  • @c0olj Yeah but most of the time I only put a half tank of gas in my Mustang just to keep weight down to a minimum.

  • @potanda yeah, seriously. mines lower then that haha

  • Dude where'd you get that speedometer mine only goes to 85. WTF it's an iroc i don't get why it only goes to 85.

  • you probably only have a 2.8 like mine.

And he might have aftermarket guages.

I'm dropping a 350 with a 350 turbo trans in my firebird when I come into some money. =P

  • @54Marlboro is urs a v6?

  • @Monst3r177 no it was a 305 tpi and then it was switched to a 350 4bbl.

  • here's a noob question, is there a difference between the B2L and the L98? If so what is it?

  • thats nice but my '80 camaro accelerates faster

  • @KillerScarface99 Lol awesome. This is when the car was stock. it's far from that now.

  • sick

  • My 92' has a L98 with a 5 speed. Its not an IROC though...

  • @ubcs109 The Engine or transmission is not stock on your car.

  • @c0olj So do you think I will have any problems with it? I've only had it for like a month, and of all that time I only drove it like 3 or 4 times.

  • @ubcs109 No not at all. I wish my L98 was a manual. Your L98 should be quicker than most L98s with that 5 speed. But I've heard of T5's breaking behind a L98. So I wouldn't be power shifting a ton.

  • @c0olj Hey, thanks for the help. If anything goes wrong, I'm blaming you lol.

  • sounds sweet!

  • Will this smoke a stock mustang 5.0?

  • @ChrisXCXCX Yes!

  • @ChrisXCXCX BIG TIME, theres a motor trend video clearly stating the L98 iroc was superior

  • oh boy the good old stock gm steering wheel. lol great vid shows how fast the camaros are. pretty bad ass.

  • There were never any 5 speed Irocs with the 5.7 built from the factory.

  • from looking at all these videos with people doing 0-60-100 with stock, im thinking since i installed a 350 into my 84 Camaro that im losing power through my transmission, well thanks for pushing me into buying a shift kit and a ratchet shifter

  • Did IROCs even have a manual option?

  • Yes. Only the 305's though.

  • Comment removed

  • There were no 5 speed 350 IROCs released to the public. To this day, I have not seen or heard anyone who had a legit 350 5 speed.

  • Comment removed

  • no L98 got the t-5. None.

  • Correct. At least out of the factory there wasn't.

  • uh huh.

  • @c0olj With a shift kit, im not sure if they equipped the automatic with corvette servo's but it must of been more heavy duty then one in a stock truck or something. It would be just as good as a manual.

  • @outcastMETALchild89 t-5 equaled 305 and 700r4 equaled 350. and they claimed to be l98 but were not aluminum. oh well they still kick ass through 88-92 and rape mustangs for fun

  • @DGKall2010 yeah i got an 87 iroc with the l98. all original with 55k.

  • @outcastMETALchild89 nice man you are lucky to have one i love 3rd gens because yes 69's are somewhat rare and very nice, but at every car show you see one, not everyone loves 3rd gens and takes interest. i think they are awesome though and great for daily driving. plus they are plentiful and are easy to find in good condition for under 3 grand. plus the modifications are vast, tpis mini rams, new injectors or throttle bodys, headers, exhaust, you name it man

  • @southpaw1000 they NEVER offered a l98 with a t5. EVER.

  • @JobeMinacum and for everyone wondering "why?" and thinking there must be one somewhere, the reason is because the T-5 was unable to handle the tourque of the 350. if you ever see one its because someone did a swap of some sort. i personally have a 350 with a 6 speed out of a 97 super sport in my iroc because they were MUCH stronger. and get better gas mileage with that .5 overdrive.

  • i doubt it lol.

  • @c0olj your right. back in the third gen days the only manual that gm had optioned for street vehicles was the good ole' T5. sadly this tranny couldnt be warrantied to the car due to tourqe output. sorry to burst some peoples bubble but if you have a 350 or even a 305 with tuned port injection, it would not have come factory with a manual. only the carbed 305's would have recieved this

  • 305 tuned ports could have a t5, not just carbed or tbi 305s

  • Yup. The low end Z28s could have a 305 TPI and T5.....the point is really on the debate that ALL 305's came with T5 option regardless of injection. Only the 350 was forced to have auto, due to it being less appealing that way and one more step behind the corvette.

  • @yootoob04 no, it was because they didnt want to put the corvettes 6 speed in it and the 5 speed was too weak. it wasnt a marketing scheme... for once.

  • Dont forget about throttle body injection. I have a 92 RS TBI 305 with a T5

  • @IROCracer89 you are correct on the 350 not having a T5, but the TPI 305's did in fact come with a t5. they had the world class T5 after i think like 86 or 87. it was a bit stronger 87+ and could handle a TPI 305, but not the 350.

  • @c0olj in 1989 the ZRA code was a 350 with a 5-speed

  • actually if you research alot you will find that in only one year i think its 88 there were only 50 350 5spd's out of the factory so if you find one check the vin and if its real then dam your lucky

  • @c0olj There were a handfull of 1LE 350/5 speed cars built and sold but they were all non-title cars, anybody that says that they own a street driven one is a liar.

  • @volvomantom yes

  • Great video, man, but am I the only one who thinks an engine as potent as this is wasted on an auto tranny?

  • Absolutely not. Some of the fastest cars have autos. Stall it, throw some gears in the rear, and you're golden. Unless you're talking about the fun factor. Then yes, I'd rather have a manual.

The engine is no longer stock since this video. I''ll have to make another run. :)

  • I don't doubt for a minute that autos work well in faster cars but I just think that an auto box takes a large part of the driving experience away.

You have so much control over the engine, and you can push it up to much higher RPMs than an auto box would permit. Make it sing, you know?

  • i dont think its wasted, it would just be much more fun, i wish my camaro was a manual :(

  • sounds sick nice car

  • Low 14's? That's pretty damn good for an L98.

If you figure, a good street motor should make about 50 h.p. per cylinder, so with some work you could probably get 400 horses out of it....my dad had a '77 Vette with the L-82 210 h.p. engine....couple of years after buying it he bought a crate motor for it, did some work and by the end of his ownership was probably making close to 400....the best mod in my opinion was the Holley 750cfm carb to fuel injection, car ran sweet after that. :D

  • sounds great on 8 seconds! i love flooring my trans am gta too!

  • nice!!

  • haha i love it!!!! watch the fuel gauge!! my 84 does the same thing..hahaha

  • dude i hate the 3rd gen steering wheels!!! theyre ridiculous!!! i took mine off and slapped on a grant!!!

  • @91cannibal i love the iroc's steering wheel and i HATE those ricer grant wheels its a freakin punks ricer steering wheel not ment for a classic!

  • grant steering wheels ARE NOT RICER at all. have you seen them? look them up. im not talking about stupid momo steering wheels or the detachable ones. im talking about true grant. thats a sterring wheel for american muscle and classic cars. look it up then run that by me again correctly.

  • @91cannibal i dont like them the only 1 that i can see thats ok is the grant classic but i dont think it looks good for thirdgens more of an 1st gen steering wheel look. i just dont like them maybe its because i only usally see them on poor ol beat up thirdgens and fourthgens. no im not trying to diss camaros I LOVE THEM! i still think some look to ricy

  • haha ok. as long as you dont diss the camaros. i have a grant in my iroc but it came like that when i bought it. i just dont like the 3rd gen steering wheel becuase i feel like im driving a bus haha.

  • @91cannibal ya i love camaros. i wasnt trying to put our camaro down but just my opinon some look cheap maybe its just the ones iv seen. i like the steering wheel maybe its because i have a cover around the side of it that matches my paint. come and think about that i think that might be the only reason lol. i wonder what sterring wheel of resembaling an 16in 85-87 iroc rim would look like as 1?

  • Grants are good steering wheels. I got on my boat

  • Well this fucking car fucking moves congrates sweet car man!

  • hey where did u get the steering wheel cover? it wasnt factory was it? because i own a 87 iroc-z thts blue and its was my mothers car and she says tht my dick head dad bough 1 and put her on. its the exact same as ur's just blue

  • It's not factory. It was like that when I got it. I never even took it off. I have no idea what it looks like under it.

  • Are you sure its a 1985 they only came with the 305 TPI's or is it a swap. If so can i get my 86 Trans Am 305 TPI to go this fast

  • It's a 1988 L98 350

  • no they had 350 they was just very uncommon and u had to ask for it at dealer ship

  • if it is a TPI is not that diffcult put decent heads, injectors, exhaust + power chip... and you can make a 305 fast too...

not to mention if you supercharge it... you can make close to 400hp...

if it's a TBI you can make power too... but it becomes more cheaper to swap for a 350cui directly

  • Great car! Check out my IROC-Z if you want. Mine is a 1988 350 tpi with a few mods.

  • Is that a tune port injection?

  • Yes, L98 (350 TPI)

  • Anyone know how much i gotta overbore a 350 chevy to make it to a 383 stroker? And i have to use a 400 crank correct? If anyone could tell me what needs to be done to transform a 350 to a 383, please email me. Thanks

  • you dont have to do any type of overbore to make an 383 from a 350 using a 400 crank, now if you use a 400 block and put in a 350 crank that makes a 377 and you need a .030 bore to amke a 383, also i do believe you have to turn down the journals to make the 350 rods fit on the 400 crank

  • my 305 tpi with 3.73s looks as fast

  • Any track times? Best I've done was a 14.0@98mph with a crappy 2.07 60 ft. I'm stuck with crappy 2.77 gears right now. But at least it's POSI.

  • no..i know my lb9 is slower..i was jus sayin that its better wen ur in the car then watchin a vid

  • 305 or 350?? looks pretty fast for a 305 with an auto...

    any mods??

  • L98 (350). Stock internals with some bolt ons (Headers, AFPR, gutted air box). The tranny also has a modified Transgo shift kit.

  • What did you do to the exhaust?, it sounds really good, sounds like you removed the cat or muffler...

  • That video was taken in the middle of exhaust work. All I'm running in that video is Hooker 2055 headers, and an open 3" Y pipe. The car now has a 3" catback with a powerstick muffler.

  • What temperature does your iroc run at? I saw it in the video at around 160*. Just wondering because you said it was stock except for the exhaust (which sounds good)but these cars ran between 195*-220* from the factory.

  • The car has a 160 stat and a high flow Stewart water pump. It stays around 170-180 when driving around town with all the stop and go. But if you jump on a highway or something it will go to 160.

  • Drive that auto!

  • nice
