Plus a few hundred thousand heavy duty tanks.. *cough* BANEBLADE *cough*... and that's for an annoyance that's lived for a few months... more powerful things start coming into play for REAL threats..

The appearance of techpriests and Imperial guardsmen makes me optimistic about this.
I just hope that the game doesn't force Imperial players to HAVE to cooperate with other races like the Eldar as if they were the Alliance. Factions ought not to be only two sides.
i highly doubt they will. Orks and chaos already place 3 factions, xeno scum such as the eldar more then likely will be their own faction as it should be.
They should make this like Planetside. That was a great game and im pretty sure it still is running after about 7 years. Looks great for a game in such early development. For all of you who think this looks like WOW, your all idiots and should go back to your POS game. For all of you making assumptions and deductions about how good this will be, its not coming out until 2013 so, wait and see. Hope its awesome and doesnt turn out like WAR did....

@hbrown75 I haven't seen any news that this isn't a M rating. Vigil has released Darksiders as a M rating so I'm sure they are not afraid of making this a M rating.
@rollen01 Darksiders isnt an MMO though is it? I suspect most companies will shy away from making any MMO esepecially one with a licence like 40k that will appeal to thousands of kids who play 40k M rated and thus cut out a huge chunk of their audience (officially anyway..)
So if its not going to be rated M for Mature, then why waste the time? why not just stop playing around and make a game whos context is not based on a raw world like this......Its just like Disney going to make a warhammer exibit at disney world, why do it?
wow this looks fucking amazing if you pause at 40 or 41 seconds you will see gameplay and it actually looks like the space marine has 360 degree control over his weapon like a shooting game , would be a first for MMO's. this looks like warhammer online (aor) with robots, tubes and wires on mobs roaming a prety colorfull world , 40k is a horror place full of nightmares, and generaly vast in lore and worlds. so this game is only money farming cause lots of fans wanted a 40k online but i dont think they have that in mind ,period !!

"Pray all you want, water isn't going to fill that well." I think you've heard that expression. A game of this quality WILL have a monthly fee, it's stupid to hope or think otherwise.
A lot of people are saying that they are disappointed they are not seeing certain races such as Tau or Eldar, but I would just like to point out that this is a teaser. In a developer interview that I read a few months ago, they said that they planned on including all of the playable races from the tabletop game as playable races in the mmo (keep in mind this might not all be right away, but possibly through expansions).
@jab1226 If you go to ign, they asked THQ a few questions and yes eldar is playable in the game (im not sure about Tau yet), but they said fans will see all the wh 40k races either as playable or NPC's and im pretty sure other races will be added in the future expansions. The game is still under heavy development. I cant wait.

art style is very similar to wow's but that may be because warhammer came first. make it grittier! so gritty that it strips the player of all hope for a better tomorrow!
In response to everyone who screams 'WoW with guns!' Just because it has a tool bar, map, and chat window DOESNT MAKE IT A WOW COPYCAT. From the setting, IP, and short clips of in game gameplay it looks like it will be nothing like wow. By the definition of most of you people screaming that it looks like wow... than any game with a UI and person to control is copying WoW right?
The only thing i am afraid of is not to be able to choose the right class or race at beginning. I hope that they make 3 or even for factions based pvp game fighting each other. If you can choose only between a chaos-alliance and a sm-alliance, the chaos (because they look cooler :D) will be overpopulated by 12 years old kids) as in WH online. They game will loose many subscribers after a few month.I just hope that Relic will not do the same mistake as mythic did with Warhammer online
@Lordseydious It doesnt look like Relic is with this game, it might be but i'm not sure. THQ is, yes, but Vigil Games is the other company in this deal. Relic i think works mostly with RTS's I believe. But yes, its either gonna be over populated with the Chaos, or the Orks. I just hope Eldar get put in :3.
ok so from the looks of it we will be playing as sm, orks, imp guard, i think i saw a adapt mechan, chaos marines, cultists, im pretty sure i saw a inquisitor like chara in one scene so they have most of the major bases covered. also at 58 im not sure if thats a sanctioned psyker or sorceror because its blured but the robes denote imperial or eldar.
This is great. Maybe with a different company and publisher handling the Warhammer 40k MMO, it might turn out to be different than EA/Mythic's Warhammer Online. Here's to hoping they change it for the better, because WH Online has a horrible engine, and have screwed up subscription payments colossally TWICE.
I can't wait to be on a Kaskrin Squad. If that fails i wouldn't mind a [INSERT SPACE MARINE ROLE HERE].
This looks like WoW (similar graphics engine fanbitches) but still... flipping sweet!
As for playable races: Most likely Orks, Chaos, and Space Marines will be playable. Eldar and Tau would also be strong contenders.
Honestly though, if the game is going to be PvP heavy, I might go with the Xenos. Space Marines are essentially a "training wheels" army for tabletop and CSM don't hold much appeal for me, Guard, Tau, and Ad Mech are where I'm at.
Unfortunately I agree, I was hoping for something more along the lines of Inquisitor or Necromundra. This feels like they kind of focused on the wrong things. Lets hope further news brings to light better things. I was kind of hoping for something along the lines of playing individual rogue traders and gangs in a hive city or on space stations duking it out in massive hive wars etc. But I can only dream of there being decency in video games outside Nintendo.

You sound like a person who reads a lot of the books. You gotta realize that there are not enough people interested in that. Anywho, it's jaw drop worth; Any game which has Motorcycles with Boltguns get's a thumbs up from me.
Vigil was responsible for the excellent Darksiders: Wrath Of War. Those guys know their stuff and have a unbelievable good Creative Director with Joe Madureira. I have high hopes for this game.
Reason WoW doesn't loose it's player base is due to it's ability to support casual play, support crap computers and also due to it being a social network, mass fantasy multiplayer game, dungeon exploration and raiding game. A game with horsies, tigers and dragons you can ride on, massive wide environments and on top of all this has a large enough player base to allow for all sorts of people to use it as a dating location for finding love ontop of this. What haven't I left out?
@Mynameisaw WoW is losing players actually, im a prime example of it, rerolled and transfered to 4 different servers, Half empthy or just plain dead. they made it possible to group up with people even outside your server, because of the low pop on so many servers xD. long ago i knew almost everyone played it. today i know no one, but blizz is so lazy they wont even merge servers, due to the "bad" talk about it. people just keep telling themselves that WoW has 11.5 million subs check google m8 ;)
@Realjhad the only reason the wow graphics is moer appealing to people is because you dont need a up-to-date computer to run it. alot of people i used to play it with dislikes the cartoony graphics
@theholk this is just a teaser nothing in this is official. There are plenty of rumors around saying eldar will be around. So far one rumor has been the closest about what WAR40k is and it mentions Eldar.
I really hope at sometime (expansion maybe?) Necrons become a playable race, not likely through :(

art style is very similar to wow's but that may be because warhammer came first. make it grittier! so gritty that it strips the player of all hope for a better tomorrow!

In response to everyone who screams 'WoW with guns!' Just because it has a tool bar, map, and chat window DOESNT MAKE IT A WOW COPYCAT. From the setting, IP, and short clips of in game gameplay it looks like it will be nothing like wow. By the definition of most of you people screaming that it looks like wow... than any game with a UI and person to control is copying WoW right?

The only thing i am afraid of is not to be able to choose the right class or race at beginning. I hope that they make 3 or even for factions based pvp game fighting each other. If you can choose only between a chaos-alliance and a sm-alliance, the chaos (because they look cooler :D) will be overpopulated by 12 years old kids) as in WH online. They game will loose many subscribers after a few month.I just hope that Relic will not do the same mistake as mythic did with Warhammer online

@Lordseydious It doesnt look like Relic is with this game, it might be but i'm not sure. THQ is, yes, but Vigil Games is the other company in this deal. Relic i think works mostly with RTS's I believe. But yes, its either gonna be over populated with the Chaos, or the Orks. I just hope Eldar get put in :3.

ok so from the looks of it we will be playing as sm, orks, imp guard, i think i saw a adapt mechan, chaos marines, cultists, im pretty sure i saw a inquisitor like chara in one scene so they have most of the major bases covered. also at 58 im not sure if thats a sanctioned psyker or sorceror because its blured but the robes denote imperial or eldar.

This is great. Maybe with a different company and publisher handling the Warhammer 40k MMO, it might turn out to be different than EA/Mythic's Warhammer Online. Here's to hoping they change it for the better, because WH Online has a horrible engine, and have screwed up subscription payments colossally TWICE.
I can't wait to be on a Kaskrin Squad. If that fails i wouldn't mind a [INSERT SPACE MARINE ROLE HERE].

This looks like WoW (similar graphics engine fanbitches) but still... flipping sweet!
As for playable races: Most likely Orks, Chaos, and Space Marines will be playable. Eldar and Tau would also be strong contenders.
Honestly though, if the game is going to be PvP heavy, I might go with the Xenos. Space Marines are essentially a "training wheels" army for tabletop and CSM don't hold much appeal for me, Guard, Tau, and Ad Mech are where I'm at.

Unfortunately I agree, I was hoping for something more along the lines of Inquisitor or Necromundra. This feels like they kind of focused on the wrong things. Lets hope further news brings to light better things. I was kind of hoping for something along the lines of playing individual rogue traders and gangs in a hive city or on space stations duking it out in massive hive wars etc. But I can only dream of there being decency in video games outside Nintendo.

You sound like a person who reads a lot of the books. You gotta realize that there are not enough people interested in that. They wanna command these massive hulking super beasts and be in the middle of the action. I haven't met many people who feel like playing a thug in a gutter over a spess mehreen.

As much as I would agree with you on some points, in all honesty in response to what he said and to what you did. Yes I read the books, yes I am one of those hardcore nerds who reads alot, loves Nintendo, loves old school stuff and Anime. Least it's better then being a poser I guess. But all that aside,, I honestly have never in my Time as a TT gamer encountered screaming 12 year old fan boys down at my local GW, maybe we just don't get them here, heh.

Vigil was responsible for the excellent Darksiders: Wrath Of War. Those guys know their stuff and have a unbelievable good Creative Director with Joe Madureira. I have high hopes for this game.

Reason WoW doesn't loose it's player base is due to it's ability to support casual play, support crap computers and also due to it being a social network, mass fantasy multiplayer game, dungeon exploration and raiding game. A game with horsies, tigers and dragons you can ride on, massive wide environments and on top of all this has a large enough player base to allow for all sorts of people to use it as a dating location for finding love ontop of this. What haven't I left out?

@Mynameisaw WoW is losing players actually, im a prime example of it, rerolled and transfered to 4 different servers, Half empthy or just plain dead. they made it possible to group up with people even outside your server, because of the low pop on so many servers xD. long ago i knew almost everyone played it. today i know no one, but blizz is so lazy they wont even merge servers, due to the "bad" talk about it. people just keep telling themselves that WoW has 11.5 million subs check google m8 ;)

@theholk this is just a teaser nothing in this is official. There are plenty of rumors around saying eldar will be around. So far one rumor has been the closest about what WAR40k is and it mentions Eldar.
