I don't think there is much win. Notice the people in the crowd with long hair. There is a girl with long blond hair down her back right at the end of the video, and it is not blowing significantly.
Here is the formula for Lift Coefficient Cl = L / (A * .5 * r * V^2) ... get those numbers right and you can get a brick house to go straight up ... the planes most Bush Pilots use have amazing L.C and LOTS of HP .. it really ain't rocket science ... put 500 HP in a C140 or a Stinson Voyager (Piper Cub - et al) and you can get off the ground before the wheels go around 1 revolution in cold dense air with a 50Kt headwind.
Actually, most pilots up here in Alaska do exactly just that. They put big tundra tires on them to role over huge rocks, and on the first airplane that you saw take off, it dosent even have a turbine engine. i think its a lycoming 160 horse (but im not totally shere on that). how people get those things off like that is by having 20,000 hours in a bush plane.
Well this is what happens when you take a supercub and put monster truck wheels on it. It can take landing rates that you wouldn't want to do with a proper supercub, and if you have that turbocharged engine and just hold the brakes for a second and then pull up, provided you have 30gal of fuel aboard, it will just end up in the air.
Bush pilots are pretty impressive, but it's just sort of an "I'd never do that to my airplane in a normal situation" thing.
is that a joke?!!

If you get the ratios right (Power v Drag, Lift v Weight, etc) you can get a brick to climb straight up.

I agree with off-duty--that headwind must have been a good 20 or 25kts. And those huge balooon tires may have been pretty soft for the landing.
