very inspiring i especially liked murdoch. could you show me how to make a mid sodor mine engine out of one of the ertl small engines like sir handel thanks again great video.
I have always wanted to make the trains myself (I'm a grown-up and a Thomas fan) but I couldn't decide what materials to use. Other than the metal wheels, which I fear might hurt the plastic rails, I find your choices very good. I thought of using wood but scrap plastic seems way more accessible and can be just as sturdy.
@cyrfung Glad to hear that many of you have tried or at least thought about make your own Thomas toys. Hopefully one day home-made toys will take over commerical ones :)
@TheNumber1Engine I can perhaps show all the raw material. My concern about a tutorial is in case a young child watches it and tries to make it and get into health and safety trouble (e.g. with tools, paint...)
He does have a commercial Henry in his collection (take along) and that's why I think the next one he would like me to make will probably a different engine. That being said he probably wouldn't mind if I make another Henry!
can you do the flying scotsman (with 2 tenders)

Rheneas and emily are impressive, and Gordon looks very cool. They all do. Fantastic work, a true inspiration.

I see. But if you decide to make a tutorial, be sure to put a notice saying that they will need adult supervision.

@donaldthescotishtwin Yes. the douglas was the 1st one and so only experimental. May make a better donald one day.

can you make donald and douglas?

That seems like a good project. What about Henry the Green Engine? Are you gonna make him as well? I'd be really happy.

@arthurfanatic henry is a good choice but I can't promise anything, all depending on what the 'little controller' (i.e. my son) likes! :)
carrrkey 2 years ago
Why not ask him if Henry is in his collection or not? I'm sure he's probably left out.

WOW! That's some extreme creativity there! I've had an idea like this on the back of my mind for a while. What did you use to make the faces anyway?
GeebMachine 2 years ago
@GeebMachine Thanks. Faces made from FIMO plastic from craft stores, hardened in oven.
