In all cases the children rate those babies with White skin and Caucasian features as being good and physically attractive compared to asians or blacks.

I think is the environment of these kids what makes them think like that,..... we don't notice it but they're being bombed daily with advertisements and commercials on TV showing estereotypes of "perfect" white blond blue-eyed people. Also the movies, the cartoons, show us unconsciously that,.. it's not their parents's fault at all, but if they teach their children about their beautiful culture, Africa, and to be proud of it, it can really help a lot!

Bottom line is: This is absolutely heartbreaking.
That any race, color, or creed would grow up with the mindset that what they look like defines their worth is so horrible.
I'm not a bleeding heart and actually far from it. But when a little boy points to a doll he has just declared to be bad and ugly, indicating it to be the "most like him", it breaks my heart.
I've witnessed this at age 9 and couldn't understand why this 13 yr old African American girl didn't believe she was beautiful.

These tests have been done over and over again, and the results are the same. This test has been given to all population groups, Blacks, Asians, Whites, and in all countries. Media bias has been factored out.
In all cases the children rate those babies with White skin and Caucasian features as being good and physically attractive compared to asians or blacks.

Sincerely, I dont give a damn to what's happening in Africa, I care about what's happening in my country, my city, my family and friends. And this video shows exactly whats happening in it. I'm not black but dare to say I know what is like to be, at least where I live. To be fully accepted in our society you gotta look like a Barbie. Our media, commercials, products, movies, series... You see the same white perfect image and our children learn that that's what beautiful. It's heartbreaking.

I think is the environment of these kids what makes them think like that,..... we don't notice it but they're being bombed daily with advertisements and commercials on TV showing estereotypes of "perfect" white blond blue-eyed people. Also the movies, the cartoons, show us unconsciously that,.. it's not their parents's fault at all, but if they teach their children about their beautiful culture, Africa, and to be proud of it, it can really help a lot!

@Anitajenn85 I doubt it's the parents. You wouldn't tell your kid that people with his or her own skin color are bad. It's probably something she picked up from television or other means of comunication that prioritize certain skin color (especially white) over the others.
If you think about it, most protagonists of animated shows are white, most characters are white. She has more iconic figures to sympathise with that are white. I don't think it's the parent's fault at all.

In my college there it is like 5% black, 4 % chinese & 91 % white. You won't believe how we get treated by teachers and students. It seems like we have to prove our self 4 times harder. It's a cycle. In the UK for example, Black men do make up a large % of the crime but then how many of these guys have experiences 'subtle' racism? There was a study conducted that suggests kids don't really know wtf until they get to about 10. It's at that age that they start to be aware of subtle racism and this is when they start changing. Up until that age, B boys are no different to W boys in terms of how they act/percieve the world. It's more complex than it being just the whites fault tho

A questão aqui não é somente racial, visto que a maioria dos brancos também não se enquadram nesse padrão de beleza (a maioria não tem olhos claros, nem todos tem pele perfeita). Essas crianças não tem preconceito com a própria imagem, elas apenas percebem que o que a sociedade julga erroneamente como bom e belo não condiz com a aparência delas, bem como com a da maioria de nós.

Em Portugal desde o 25 de Abril que existe esse sistema para as ex-colónias e também os naturais das ilhas, para combater o isolamento. Hoje em dia, muitos europeus que viajam para Portugal admiram-se por ser um país onde os negros não se encontram apenas em trabalhos relacionados com serviços ou construção civil. Acho que não.. aqui passaram a haver bonecos de todas as cores: negros, brancos, asiáticos. Ainda assim é dificil ver crianças com bonecos diferentes da sua e crianças negras com bonecos da sua cor. Existem outros vídeos por aí de programas da Tyra Banks onde meninas negras renegam a sua cor e origem..é preocupante. Mas não tem que ver apenas com a cor, penso que com a imagem corporal em geral.

Well, people would say that I'm caucasian but really I'm happy to live in country where I don't have to sign up for a race/colour anywhere because I don't feel that. When I go to place where there are only white folks I feel uneasy because I've always been around diversity. So, it could be the other way around. I think that by the time you'll have kids we'll be more intercultural than multicultural. I believe so.
