My favorite to buy pigment samples is from MakeupGeek but every person who sells them will have their own choices on which ones to sell so you may not find the one you want.

To press the other types of mineral eye shadows add a TINY bit of glycerin to the alcohol, if you add to much it will never dry (experience =/).

Yeah actually, you can get samples for around 2-3 dollars depending on the seller and press them into a pan. There you have an eyeshadow pan for less than a covergirl shadow. It's nuts! :P

If you are referring to the "MAC" palettes, they are fake. Anything that claims to be MAC but comes with a sponge-tip applicator is FAKE!

Those all all fake. So are half the pigments, eyeshadows, and brushes on ebay. You may be saving money, but you're not getting the real thing!

Yeah those are actually VERY FAKE. :( The only Palettes MAC makes that hold around that number of shadows are the 15 pan palettes and they come empty and you have to fill them yourself. Please do not purchase MAC from ebay because 99% is fake. Which that wouldn't really matter if the quality was just as good but it is very bad quality fakes. And as danielle said anything with a sponge applicator is fake.

Mac is ok but in my opinion there are a lot of other brands just as good. So I sold my eyeshadows and my palette :D I have a few samples of pigments I like and a mineralize skinfinish. Some things are nice but the shadows aren't for me. Only found one I liked. I'm picky I guess lol

Good video..nice to have someone explain things. Sometimes we forget that its still new to so many people! I didnt see it mentioned but I think its important to add that pigments are also multi functional. They can be added to clear gloss to make a tinted one, they can be added to nail polish to make a custom color, as well as for a blush if you like. I laughed at what you said about minerals being different because I tried to press mine not knowing .. what a mess! LOL

colors that are only available via MAC Pro stores or by calling the 1-800 number to order from them (anyone can buy them) - its just a more extensive selection of colors to use.

Pro colors are colors that you can't get if you just go to a regular counter, store or the regular mac cosmetics website. You have to buy them from a pro store or order them by phone. So if you find a seller who sells samples of those it's really nice because it saves you a lot of trouble trying to hunt them down. :D A lot of those colors are SUPER bright or kind of different. Colors that maybe a makeup artist would find useful for odd jobs but it's nice to have the choice.
