Nationalitatea este mult mai important decat cetatenia, cetatenia poti sa schimbi foarte usor, cum a fost si Béla Károlyi fortat sa faca dar nationalitatea nu.(el de fapt sa nascut is Ungaria, dar nu asta conteaza)

Maghiarii din Romania sunt si au fost tratati ca catateni de clasa a doua(ex.:Bölöni László era intotdeauna jignit ca numele ere schimbat in Ladislau Boloni, si el a fost fortat sa plece) iar daca aduce glorie Romaniei caci rusine nu v-am adus niciodata devin romani.

S-a nascut in Ungaria, zici? E nascut la Cluj! Acum ca ungurii luasera Clujul cu japca in 42 asta e altceva, dar Clujul e si a fost intotdeauna paman romanesc!

Mie una mi-a lasat un gust amar cand a zis ca cel mai important moment din viata lui a fost 1984. Daca nu era Nadia, nu stiu daca ar mai fi avut sansa sa isi construiasca o asemenea cariera. E lipsit de onoare sa pleci astfel capul in fata noilor stapani si sa te ploconesti ca sa le faci pe plac.

oh man i love him. despite what everyone says about his coaching techniques i so would have loved to have been trained by him. he's so great :)

I definitely believe that he mas a real jerk. But I also believe that it was to make the girls stronger. Sports are hard; media is even harder. Look at what Paul Hamm went through at what was supposed to be the most exciting moment of his life and what is still going on four years later. The point was, if you can handle Bela, you can handle anything. And look at the athletes he produced.

you're definitely right. he very well could have been a huge jerk. but i believe that he produced the kind of athlete that the gymnast wanted to be. you have to have the want to be a champion. if you don't have it you won't make it. i strongly believe in the power of the mind and what you think and feel translates into what happens to you, so i think if you want to be that champion with every fiber of your being and you think positively you will get there. bela was there to help facilitate it.

Definitely. In gymnastics, you have to be mentally strong or you will not make it far. Look at the crap that some athletes have to go through. Even just think about the devstation when you're scored lower than you deserve and you know it. You have to be mentally strong.

believe me, i know about it all too well. i was a competitive gymnast for quite a few years. injuries and parental opposition kept me from going as far as i wanted. but who knows where i could have gone if that wasn't the case. as for training with bela, i started to peak well after he retired so there was sadly no shot to train with him.

I'm sorry you had to give it up. I'm not sure what I would do if I were in the sport. It's tough and it takes dedication (and I don't have dedication when it comes to sports).
