but also, the point of art is self expression to me, but not putting a puppet show for the public.. if the artists only listen to the public and not the self, I don't they would be artists anymore..
I remember watching this on the big screen at Hyde Park on the last night of the proms.
Detached from the public? No I don't think so. Neither did the thousands in Hyde Park who gave it a rousing applause.
And, I don't remember the early proponents of rap and hip hop being too concerned for public opinion when these forms came out and slapped us all in the face.
This is what happens when art becomes detached from the public and becomes something only enjoyed by the elite. It is no longer ascetically pleasing, although it is technically extremely difficult it is not pleasing to listen to. The same thing happened with the dodecaphonic scales and the such.
a few things Ellpene...firstly, aesthetically pleasing is completely subjective. You cannot simply say that because the music is not completely tonal that it is not pleasing? thats a fairly simple concept, so im not going to go into it in anymore detail. secondly, while you are right that technical difficult for the sake of difficulty is unnessecary, difficulty done well, and expressively (and impressively) at something like the proms is completely warranted and expected.
Cant agree with you on that 1 pal, although I do understand ur point. Music comes in a limitless array of styles and while one mans groove is another man's ear rape, no music is "detached from the public". The exception is if you are referring to music that doesn't get radio play (making u a noob). I personally can't understand how this isn't "ascetically pleasing". Perhaps people sometimes need to just SHUT THE HELL UP AND LISTEN... that definitely was not directed at you big fella ; )
I was going to explain the Motorbike Concerto to you, but then I saw that you ended your critique in a manner similar to that of Ms. South Carolina. And then I thought, 'Why bother?'
i remember watching a video about wynton marsalis doing wat he was doing lol. Making weird sounds from your mouth while playing, lol this is hilraious
In order to have the right to say that lindberg is anything less that amazeing, you first need to be able to play better. How about instead of downing him you get into the practice room and TRY to play with the virtuosity that he does. Once your better than say hes no longer a good player
Poor Lindberg - satisfied and bored by his own superiority the same time made him loose contact to the non-circus-like music-making. What a waste of talent, what an unpleasanty to hear...
I didn't say anything about christian linberg. He's obviously a very good player. But that doesn't change the fact that the music is not music, just noise, to me.
the original 1989 version is better. Lindberg has lost his brain, and makes frequent mistakes nowadays. The original is much more musical, and he plays chords in ADDITION to the wierd didgeridoo bit, which was also better 20 years ago.
Are the people crynig at 4:15 , cause his kilt is lifting ? :D

You are right on the money my friend... the score indicates that the cadenza should be played like a Digeridoo. :)
