  • I should listen to this song for the first seven days of May... and then listen to it seven times on the 7th 'cause that's my birthday.

  • Awesome solo by Alex... as usual.

  • This song is brilliant with a mesage that will surely kick the asses

  • Megadeth, slayer, testament, anthrax, pantera.

  • @Havester0fSorrow take out anthrax and put metallica in that spot. then it would be perfect.

  • @MarlboroMenthol95 Nah man, i woulnt be alble to stand their listing to fucking load and shit that they always play. and yes i know they do cause a seen them in 2009, anthrax has way better music,

  • @Havester0fSorrow yea. i like metallicas older shit. their new stuff sucks in my opinion. and i agree with anthrax having better music. very true.

  • maybe then the midget would have died in the bus crash and the band wouldn't have forgotten how to write music well

  • this kind of makes me think of what Metallica would have been if Dave Mustaine had still been in the band.

  • Listening to this Right now on Radia Dentata :D

  • The Alex Skolnick solo on this song is amazing

  • that solo - holy fuck

  • I didn't knew this band... Awesome songs :o

  • ATTENTION!!!!! to the people who bash on Metallica......If you said one bad word about Metallica in front of the boys of Testament.....they would kick the shit out of you!!!! These guys are huge Tallica fans.....If you don't like Metallica or have a problem with them you don't have the right to like Testament.....simple as!!!

  • testament en argentina en agosto !!!!! vamos carajo!!

  • Fuck yeah!!! Put an end to hypocrisy! Lead the way to democracy! Lyrics & Music are great... Thrash on dudes..!! Testament rules are recorded here. Go Chuck!

  • may 21 that is all

  • @Mexikoolz71 what do you mean "May 21 that is all"? The reason I ask is because my birthday is on that date

  • @GMGMage lmaoo supposely it is going to be judgement day at that day its just bullshit this song just made me think of it

  • @Mexikoolz71 you were right, it was Bullshit, although that would have been a good birthday present, you know surviving the apocalypse and all.

  • @GMGMage lol yea but happy late birthday man keep rockin out with testamen \m/

  • I love alex skolnick in testament. I hope he stays involved with everything testament, no more leaving for any periods of time Alex!

  • WHY CANT WE LOVE BOTH METALLICA AND TESTAMENT??? BOTH AMAZING. I KNOW METALLICA WAS BAD IN THE 90S AND 00S BUT THEYRE BACK ON THE RIGHT TRACK WITH DEATH MAGNETIC AND HAVE EMBRACED THRASH AGAIN.

  • @RandyVanHalen1 Death Magnetic is not thrash

  • @BigAlFTW alright, well they tried

  • Alex Skolnick's solo on this song fucking rules.

  • @2:18. Man, I used to rewind my Testament cassette over and over again this part of the song. This solo is unique: it sounds like a tone of hope despite of catastrophy that comes upon us, politically speaking.

  • @gmv12345 me too my friend!

  • on wikipeida under Tienanmen massacre

  • amazing with one of the best solos ever

  • Fucking Great Song!!!!

  • i just had an eargasm from that solo

  • I hear a lot of Metallica influence. That's a good thing. These guys are badasses

  • @ChrisHisWickedness Metallica influence???? WTF are you smokin?...these guys kick Metallica's ASS!!!! and they should be on the "Big 4" tour instead of the wimped out pussy's Metallica have become...

  • @MrNightrain09 Testaments songs with NEVER compare to metallicas older stuff, testament is good though

  • @SavageSlayerX like you said "older stuff"....Testament still kicks ass, unlike Metallica, I have been listening to Testament since 1983, I stopped listening to anything from Metallica after 1990....enough said!

  • @MrNightrain09 You can go get raped and die you piece of shit. Metallica DID influence Testament. Without Metallica, there wouldn't be Testament, Now STFU and think before posting such a fucking stupid comment.

  • @mario1136 ummm they both formed around the same time you jackass so I suggest you STFU and suck my dick!....Metallica was great back in the day but turned into sold out pussy's like you....

  • @MrNightrain09 No, you fucking tard. Testament didn't start even recording until 1986, and they were using Metallica's music as an infliuence. People like you need to stop hating on Metallica because everyone else does. No I will not suck your dick because I'm not a faggot like you

  • @mario1136 whatever, I said "formed"...these guys kick Metallica's ass any day....I don't hate old school Metallica just the pussy pop shit that you seem to like....

  • @MrNightrain09 Metallica is equal to testament asshole, and I am tired of you idiots calling Metallica pop. Calling Metallica pop is like calling Sodom funk.

  • @mario1136 Kill Em All, Ride and Master was good, had a few good tracks on Justice...after that Metallica sold out and turned to pop, to get more air play...Bands like Testament, Exodus, Slayer ect ect ect have remained heavy and don't care about airplay....

  • @MrNightrain09 It's funny how people call Metallica pop. Slayer changed to more of a nu-metal sound after Divine Intervention. All bands care about airplay.

  • @mario1136 yeah thats so retarded, slayer fans are dumb, plus theyve never done anything new since seasons, and i fucking hate the song disciple, attracts all metalcore kids, they sound a little like slipknot now,all the big sold out, even kreator did (the went industrial and gothic metal in the 90s) testaments one of the few thats never sold out, and iron maiden (they were close though)

  • @skaterdouche4 I like God Hates Us All. Its one of my favorite Slayer albums, but the problem I have with Slayer though, is that they ARE too damn repetitive. Every song sounds the same. Kreator did go downhill in the 90's. And yeah, Testament always has kept a true sound.

  • @mario1136 cus "The Ritual" isnt on the mainstream side at all.

  • @packman402 Yeah, The Ritual was a change in style, but still was non-mainstream.

  • @mario1136 still rather mainstream in comparison to previous works. in the exact same vein as Metallica and Countdown, i'd say. not to a fault or anything (great albums all 3) but still the same direction

  • @packman402 Have you heard Morbid Angel's new album? It's the most mainstream change I've ever heard in any band.

  • @mario1136 its heinous

  • @packman402 That means bad right?

  • @mario1136 yes

  • @packman402 Yeah, biggest fuck up in metal history.

  • @packman402 This is still way better than everything overrated Blandtallica has done.

  • @packman402 This is still way better than everything overrated Blandtallica has done.

  • @MrNightrain09 i fucking agree with u all the way dude. i love metallica but they fucking suck now.

  • Souls of Black does not contain one bad tune, it's quality (thrash) M-E-T-A-L.

  • ...one person got lost trying to find Tokyo Hotel!!!

  • oh boy, now some retards are arguing about how the illuminatis real and about how i should 'open my eyes'..wtf.

as this song clearly shows, its corruption in the govt and other institutions that screw things up, NOT the illuminati.

  • @J03SA fuck the illuminati all the faggots tht think its real youre fuckin retards go shove tht bullshit up ur moms pussys nd kill yourselves!!!

  • @fuckinthrasher666 er..if you weren't so busy swearing, you'd see that i never said it was real. i dont believe that theyre real (well unless youre talking about the barvarian illuminati..and that was round 200 years back)

so in short, i think its bullshit too.

  • kinda sounds a bit like Pantera in some respects.

  • @MrRedeyedJedi yeah i always thought that

  • @MrRedeyedJedi come to think of it yeah. but testament > pantera

i dont usually care about whos better, but cmon xD

  • @J03SA lol both good bands and yea somewhat simular, but yea, I agree - they're both good in their own way ;p (tho I do prefer testament and bands such as satariel who arnt overly popular but still really good)

  • @MrRedeyedJedi yep! exactly.

  • My Provincial government recently doubled our taxes; ever since then, Testament lyrics have taken on a whole new significance. This song and "Perilous Nation" really make me feel like things need to change.

  • best testament song. no doubt.

  • Kirk Hammett could only dream of creating a solo this epic

  • Amazing soloing in this song by Alex Skolnick

  • I saw them last night at the Tsongas Arena in Lowell MA with Megadeth and Slayer. Testament was the best IMO

  • um..... forget about exodus??

  • this solo is a bitch to learn

  • Satch taught this dude .... that y they rocked back in da day .........ahhhhhhhhh.

  • truly a great thrash album "Souls of Black", i remember listening to it over and over again, back in the dayz...this album, creates such an Atmosphere! simply fantastic!

  • I think it should be:

    1. Megadeth

    2. Slayer

    3. Testament

    4. Pantera

    But That's just an OPINION

  • @slayer69540 Naaah... In no particular order, DEATH, Slayer, Testament and Pantera.

  • @Kryptik316 death is death metal not thrash i think its safe to say

    slayer

    megadeth

    testament

    kreator

  • @cuzzo820 Slayer Metallica Exodus

  • @xseb5x lmao metallica was murdered by Bob Rock.

  • @cuzzo820

    Sadus

    Wehrmacht

    Attomica

    Dark Angel.

  • @slayer69540

Pantera? ok but how about anthrax?

  • @iScreamAimandFire Sorry but you can not compare pantera to anthrax

  • @slayer69540 i say thats good, but live Slayer just...... you gotta see them with megadeth to understand... Megadeth is my fav band and when i saw them with slayer they were awesome, but when Slayer came on i was just like THIS IS SO FUCKING INTENSE! ARGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! lol

  • holy shit my computer almost crashed cause it couldnt take the awesomeness

  • They aren't in the big 4 probably because their members changed so much... Then again, Megadeth...

  • Testament should be in the big four!

  • Freedom, the illusion that I so dearly need.

  • it should be big 5 of thrash:

    megadeth

    slayer

    testament

    exodus

    overkill

metallifag and anthrax doesnt deserve to be on the list

  • fuck ya man but metallicas old stuff is okay

  • PS3 rules

  • actually, we should take megadeth off. metallica was THE first thrash metal band, and even if they didn't keep their thrashy style through the 90's, they still deserve to be on the big 4. i personally would replace slayer, they're a bit more death metal than death metal, and i don't care how much shit i'm gonna get from slayer fans for saying that.

  • Replace Slayer? They are the heaviest of the big 4

  • i can definetely agree with that. i'm sure i'm the only person who would replace them. i just don't really like death metal at all. i'd consider them more the pioneers of death metal than thrash. not to say that they're a bad band, if anyone got that from it.

  • slayer is the definition of thrash

  • ur an idiot. slayer is not even close to death metal. megadeth has been the most consistent band of the big four so why would u take them out?

  • @chiaromontestephen: Ya, I agree. But they all rock!

  • @chiaromontestephen Testament isnt in the big 4... but they kick all of the 4's asses.

  • @wiiwhiz why shud megadeth be taken out of the big 4 of thrash when theyre probably the best thrash band ever and have the greatest metal musician of all time playing with them? anthrax if anything, then tallica.

  • @mustainerulesxx i was having bad typing troubles that day. i meant slayer. megadeth DEFINETELY shouldn't be taken out of the big four.

  • @mustainerulesxx i would take anthrax out ... but id keep metallica just cuz their new stuff is getting more thrashier. slayer and megadeth are definatley the best out of them but i still love metallica

  • @RetroRifleGuitarist2 Testament is the best. They never lost it. a lot of them lost it, and Testament gets better and better.

  • then go COMMENT ON A MODERN WARFARE 2 VID. but i agree.

  • so this album sucks?????? WTF

  • I think this record had some of Alex's best solos ever, this being one of 'em.

  • Always hated the production on this album. Performances and songwriting sounded rushed. The guitar tone sounds like an ADA MP-1 straight into the console... thin, buzzy, overly distorted and bright. No balls. Once they started to "hit" in 88 the label just pushed these guys to write/tour/record endlessly and their work suffered for it.

Too bad because there's 2-3 decent tracks on the album.

  • @theoriginalmrsm You got a thumbs down for speaking the truth so Im guessing its from some know it all kid that just discovered testament last week. This album does sound rushed and half baked. I read an interview with Eric Peterson a couple of years ago where he said the band were given 6 weeks to get this album ready for release in time for the clash of the titans tour.

  • I remember reading the same shortly after the album came out. They were really being given the push by the label to compete with Metallica, Megadeth, Anthrax and Slayer to the band's detriment.

Heck, they did the previous record "Preach" live in the studio to cut down on time to produce it--another short deadline... at least it sounds ok.

If you compare "Souls" to "New Order" you can hear the deficiencies plain as day.

Good band, but they needed to learn to say NO to the label.

  • @theoriginalmrsm Definitely agree, this album felt rushed when it came out, many of my friends kinda dropped testament after this one. Many of the songs sound very alike.

  • i personally found that the rushed production gave it a certain effect, and that's what made me love this album so much.

  • Often in metal, some rawness in the sound is what makes it feel real.

  • @gwm666 i completely agree. maybe that's why i like older testament better than the newer stuff, is because the record company rushed them. not to say that their new stuff is bad, of course!

  • Did anyone know that while he was away from Testament for a few years, Alex Skolnick fronted a jazz band that played some clubs in San Francisco?? Talk about strange pairing, but still the music is kick ass lol

  • Check:

    The Skolnick Trio, Attention Deficit.

  • Amazing solo!!! Alex Skolnick is an incredible guitar player!

  • man it´s 11:30 pm and I have to get up at 5 tomorrow ... but I just can´t stop listening to this album. its a true masterpiece

  • Testament is a totaly underated Band

  • hmmm... i don't know when they singt in by this label.... hm unesesary.... there fucking awsam....

  • "Jewclear records"

    You are SO clever!

  • Definatly but one of the best out there!

  • @northerangle One thing I wished they would do...is play anthem songs that are 6, 7, 8 minutes long...but they are VERY underrated

  • best fuckin' solo EVER

  • this is one of my favorite songs from this album, just fucking great ! sick ass riffs man

  • Alex is God. This solo is... No words...

  • Alex Skolnick is one of the greatest guitarist I have ever heard period, helps when Mom and Dad have PHD in music and teach at berkely, its in this dudes blood!!!!!

  • testament is a pretty good band

  • Probably one of the catchiest rythym guitar riffs are in this song. I wish they played this one live and the solo is pretty impressive as well.

  • Great Alex Skolnick
