@pottsisback yes that is true but if you were to take some of the carcasses out of the dung and look at the beetles you would notice all of the internal organs of the beetles are digested.

@Cleogarrettt they will fast most of the time before laying eggs. any insect that will fit in her mouth will so. If you can get her to eat while GRAVID (the word is not pregnant) before ashe lays her eggs then that is good. after laying her eggs you will notice she is skinny. feed her twice a day all she can eat until she regains her fat. don't forget to get her a male to couple up with.

@bufothetoad1 lol in call of duty modern warfare 2 there is a perk you can use to get better distance with using knives so instead of a 2-3 ft lunge its more like 4-5 ft means you can kill farther away :P

How often do you feed those to your toads? I read they are pretty tough beetles to digests and contain a lot of chitin, so they are not good for them. Was just wondering if your toads been ok eating them.

@Repter2 oh yes they're fine. I dissected their dung and the beetle shells come out whole, but all the organs inside are gone.

@bufothetoad1 That is great to hear! I was worried about collecting them for my toads for that reason. Next year I might collect some before we spray for them. Free food is always nice, just have to make sure not to poison them before I collect them.
