I am not vegan or vegetarian though I do eats lots of plants during the week (I am thought trying to stop after seeing Earthlings). Everytime I get cut off on the rode I will say, "You need to stop eating all that meat." LOL. I trully do think it makes us mad.
@Shantigirl i thought i was in the best shape someone could be in from eating poultry and red meat along with whey protein supplements.i developed arthritis in both hands and bad gastro issues at 21! My mom went on a raw vegan diet and i did it with her in support for her weightloss. within a week my arthirtis was gone and so was my adominal pain. that was nearly 3 years ago and i havent even had a cold since then! never going back.
I have a question. I'm a person who used to eat steak like every other day and weighed about 205 lbs at the time. Which is big for me since I'm only 5'7''and was at age 18 than a year ago. But now since I only eat any type of animal only twice a month, I weigh about 165 lbs. I do want to get off this type of eating though. I have no idea what to eat to be like this guy Brian Clement. I mean, should I eat all organic food or do I eat something else? Thank you for anyone who answers to me.
@GarretC1 - Congratulations on your weight loss ! Further info on Vegan food & recipes can be found at the Supreme Master TV website (Be-Veg) and the vegansociety website.
Ideally choose organic produce - this is becoming easier as major supermarkets etc have woken up to the fact this is what customers want. Additionally, look for the "Fair Trade" label which ensures that producers received a fair price for their produce.
Our 25 to 30ft digest track is same length found in herbivores not carnivores whos complete digestive track is only about 6 to 12 feet long. Meat has no fiber and it lieterally rots in your gut releasing toxins (nitrosomin,..) whereas plant mater has fiber, water, and protein. Besides raising livestock contributes to the 3rd largest producer of green house gases and lets no talk about how much water goes into producing a lb of beef
We cannot used protein per se. We use amino acids. It takes a lot of energy to break down animal protein into free form amino acids for assimilaton. Plants are the best source of amino acids, which are the building blocks of protein.
Uh oh. I've just recently heard of this guy, Dr. Brian Clement. However, I finally did a search, and this is the first youtube video that came up. I say "uh-oh" because I can see I will now be spending the remainder of the evening watching every other youtube video that has anything to do with him. Brilliant!
@ndsceagle71 Actually, chlorophyll is the most dense form of protein on the planet.
Our canines are also called "eye teeth" and they certainly can't see anything. So just because we "coin a term" for something, doesn't make it literally that. Our "canines" cannot rip apart flesh. Why do you cook meat, why do you have to use a knife, why can't you rip apart a deer or a rabbit with your teeth? Because you don't HAVE the teeth for it. Gorillas are veg, and their canines are FAR larger than ours.
ndsceagle71 ,Humans do not have canine teeth! Go try to bite into a raw steak, you may lose a tooth, also humans teeth are to close together to eat meat, the meat gets stuck between are teeth! Humans teeth are for veggies and seeds !
@ndsceagle71 I can answer this question.... Humans dont have truly canine teeth to begin with.. "Canine" is just a classification given by dental scholars to differentiate certain other teeth from the polars- but these so called "canine" teeth are present in horses as well and are no way related to the actual canine teeth and were not intended for eating meat.. You can find more info on this on the internet..
They are not canines they are for eating fruit. Take a look at a cats teeth, they are much sharper and separated, unlike human teeth. And many plants contain huge amounts of protein, check soy, legumes, rice, nuts etc.
Vegans do not have a particularly high life expectancy, quite the contrary. The highest life expectancy has been observed in people who eat fish in addition to vegetable foods. Also lactovegetarians have a higher life expectancy than vegans.
@shantigiri Simply untrue. Vegans have the highest life expectancy and the highest levels of health. And lacto? OMGS are you a 2 year old? Mammals don't drink milk past infancy, and especially don't suck the tits of OTHER SPECIES.
@billtheman100 cows do not produce milk for humans anymore than zebras or giraffes do. we are the only species who consume milk after being infants. even worse...we are consuming the secretions of cows. when you really sit back and think about it......it is disgusting.
Thanks very much for the study. I think it has some very good points. I do agree that the western world has made meat eating into a perverted addiction and strongly oppose the Atkin's diet anyway. I think there are some very interesting points about diseases caused by overconsumption of meat that i was not aware of. Coming from a Hindu upbringing I have been raised to be predominantly vegetarian anyway and only eat meat rarely.
I must admit that I do enjoy eating meat occasionally and have no immediate intention of quitting nor increasing my consumption. I think from an evolutionary perspective there is little harm in consuming moderate amounts of meat as our digestive system is able to cope with it. But admittedly I often wrestle with the ethical issues of eating meat rather than the health issues.
Nonetheless it is an important study for many people who consume meat in every meal and are unaware of the risks.
For health research on this, please search on "Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine (PCRM)", they have done a lot of research on this subject. And for global warming info search on "Livestock's Long Shadow Report".
please provide links of these clinical trials. It will help your case 10 fold if there is truth in it.
And the thing about murder is much lower in vegan societies, is in my opinion more down to the dominance of Dharmic religions which plays a huge cultural effect. I don't think it is a direct product of not eating meat. I may be wrong, but this can easily be tested.
what is white meat? being vegetarian for a month arent a long time but if everybody just took that one vege month a year it would help alot on global warming.
Well i do hope that it is true. But i have great appreciation for scientific testing... a double blind tests is one of the most prudent tests that can be performed. If such trials were taken in this case than I would love to see it. If there is truth in what you are saying then it will stand up to scientific scrutiny.
My point is that somebody saying that it helps does not make it statistically significant. If it is significant than I, among others would adopt the diet.
