The attacking comments is the new techniques taught today. Yes no matter if you are steven seigal, bruce lee, chucky baby or MMA fighter of the year. YOU should know how to counter an attacker or block or attack, it's called fitness, Good God people, so freak en Jealous of one form, technique or the other, Kind of like being Jealous because some one catches a bigger fish.. Have respect for all the arts, fighting as it's none today and it will have respect for you,, great stuff here,, great idea
@vahnx002 It's his breathing. Any movie with martial arts in it that has those "Sound effects" for punches and any other strikes are actually originally suppose to be breathing. Many people think that they are just sound effects for show. but breathing is actually essential to powerful strikes.
This is awesome! You clearly have control of your breathing, this is why someone his age can do all of this and why younger more muscly men can't go as long as him. He doesn't rely on big muscles he relies on technique and has control of his breathing.
With the bunkai, try to extend the distance, as you were in slashing range of the knife. Perhaps don't allow the knife wielder to be as passive. Perhaps permit the stand-off to be done at a proper longer range to test the pre-emptive strike of the defender or test his responses to the slash/stab. Knife defences are very difficult and require many many repetitions. Bridging the gap tests both attack and defence. If the aggressor possess murderous intent, the defender should have assessed this.
@nodankarate True words of wisdom, your Tanto Kata was demonstrated well. I paid close attention to your footwork. I am young I will admit, maybe one day, I will be enlightened as you have, and achieve what you have achieved. Excellent demonstrations, and effective self defense. Well done.
I have watched the form and understand its movements. Would you say the downblock is an important element throughout the form? L downward block followed by R vertical punch. Is the parrying used in the form a wasted move?
@mmmhyeah You are an astute student of the arts and the first to fully grasp the focus of this kata. Few people understand that the full movements of the traditional formal blocks were intended to give form and substance to the quicker, shorter parries that are essential to street defense against bladed weapons. Kudos to you!
What style is this based on? Please don't tell me that it's Nodan's style

@Failfleetcaptain21 Nodan's 4th Principle, "Correct Breathing," has been largely lost to modern "sport" karate.

@davepamn it is anti blade weapon kata, you either evade or block or you get cut or stabbed i'd say
