  • I have this same machine although i've been using a built in espresso machine for four years. i am moving now so I want to dust this off, get it serviced, and start using it again as it made great coffee. Since this company is out of business, do you know where I can get mine serviced on the West Coast??? thanks!

  • Interesting... Maybe the flow of the pump is optimal at not so high pressure! Some Ulka pumps give 120 ml/min at 12 bar, but it seems that others (Fluid-O-Tech for instance) give that amount at 10 bar... Do you know the model/brand of the pump? I saw one of this machine working today and like it a lot! But it seems that the brew temperature was a little low, as you said - not blonde shots, but sour!

  • It has an Ulka EX5, the most common Ulka pump. As for the brew temp.: I had to change the brew thermostat to a 100°C one. With the original thermostat it produced pale shots. I don't understand why we have to modify so many espresso machines to work right....

  • Yes, that the reason that many people buys expensive machine to get what they want... Well, this pump gives 60 ml in 30 seconds at 12 bar... Weird that you had worst coffee with the OPV. But, let's remember that the machine does singles... About the thermostat, does it have a wide dead-band? Wouldn't be a nice project to add a PID to the themoblock?

  • Yes, the replaced thermostat has a wide dead-band and the thermoblock isn't too stable as well, so yes, It would be a good idea to PID this machine.

  • Hi again! One question: does this machine have an OPV? Or the pump pressure is near 9 bar for an 30 ml flow in about 25-30 seconds?

  • No, it hasn't got an OPV. I was curious about this and I've tried to build in a Fluid-O-Tech OPV set to 9 bars, but it produced inferior quality shots this way, so I think the machine designed to work properly without an OPV.

  • I think this machine isn't ideal for household use, it is best for office or light commercial use.

  • It should be for an office use! It seems to be big...

  • Hi! I have one of this machine available (used) for a good price. How is the shot quality? I'm kind of disappointed with the quality of machines like Jura and Delonghi, and heard good comments about this Quick Mill! Does the grinder grind fine enough to a good shot? What's the diametre of the group head? Thanks!

  • Hi there,

The shot quality is way better than other superautomatics' I've ever used. The grinder is an 51mm flat burr grinder and yes, it can grind fine enough even to choke the machine. I haven't measured the grouphead, but the brew unit can hold a maximum of 10-12g of ground coffee, that is fair enough to shot a reasonable espresso.

  • Note that I had to change the brew thermostat to a 100°C one as with its original thermostat it was producing blond shots. Even now the third shot is acceptable, the first two goes to the sink or into milk based drinks.
