@buckie0201 where were you looking? the smoke was so much it was impossible not to see it and yes you could see it in London it was on the news and you could see this black cloud way off from London depending what part of the city you where in
I was in london and I could see the smoke. It looked like a muchroom cloud on my way back home. Didn't think it would of been alma until I drove past it... :( it was... depressing...
u didnt see any smoke, I live in st. t and I didnt see no smoke at my house, I looked to see if I could see the smoke but I couldnt, so no way could u have seen it in london, it wasnt that big of a fire, just an important one
If the Ontario Municipal Board allows thw wrechers ball to swing, this building will soon be gone forever. The OMB hesring was on October 3rd & 4th, 2007 and their decision will probably be handed down within a few short weeks. The estimated cost of restoration is $15 million. If anyone has the financial capability to step up to the plate and save this grand old lady, NOW would be a good time!
they say it could cost $20 million simply to make Alma structurally sound. I believe they are appealing to the provincial and federal governments to each give $10 million to get the work done as soon as possible. Let's hope it works. Wish I had the money, I would do it in a heartbeat.
Had the Zubick's not been allowed to strip it and let it fall into ruin, it would not have cost nearly so much money to restore it now. We would also buy and restore the facility in a heartbeat if we had the funds to do so. We're hoping someone or some group with that kind of money will take on the project before it is beyond repair. That's why we posted this video.
