It would have been "socialist" if it actually went to buy out banks - and right now, no one can really tell exactly what happened to the money already spent as well as what the hell to do with the rest of it. You are wrong. Using the Bailout funds the government gave billions of dollars to banks in exchange for stock ownership. The government now has an ownership interest in our banks, insurance companies and who knows what else. They own them. Is this simple enough for you to understand now?
