This movie is unabashedly brilliant! One night I was waiting for one of my favorite movies to start on another channel. I had about 15 minutes to kill before it came on, so tuned in the previous channel just for kicks. I caught the last 5 seconds of the opening credits and didn't realize until it was over that I had completely missed the show I intended to watch in the first place. Why do I get the impression that Zaphod's character is loosely based on George W. Bush? :D

No, it was not in the book. All the versions of hitchhikers guide to the galaxy are slightly different, the radio series, tv series, books and movie, all of them started out the same, and then started going in each their directions. quit nice actually. you have like four vesions of it, so if you, say, read the book first, you still have three more to laugh at.

the video quality on this particular video sucks. I am from Britain, and I have seen the Hitchikers Guide Series, and I think both have their points. This scene is hilarious to me. I am as much as purist as the next but, I laughed so hard, i pea'd my pants. Sorry I did like both the older series version and the new one. Probably just because i am a huge Mos Def fan also. Don't hate me.

Oh, man. I'm really not sure. I saw it at a friend's place. It was 2 VHS tapes, and they came w/a book. The original 'paranoid android' makes a cameo, in this film.

I hated the movie, it sucked so freaking bad. Gastley. Nothing like the original BBC miniseries. Only bright spot for me was when they broke into the building with Marvins arm, the Vogons voice was Holly from Red Dwarf.

The movie was based on the book not the original radio play. Douglas Adams made the radio, TV and book different so fans could enjoy all three. The movie is in keeping with that idea.

I do realize that, I've read all the books, seen the entire BBS series, and heard the radio plays. BUT, I'm talking about casting, direction,acting, and how well the actors get about together. It just doesn't work for me. The actor playing Zaphod,(can't remember his name) can't hold a candle to Mark Wing Davies. I just couldn't stand the movie. Guess I'm a HHGG purist. *LOL* BTW, checked out your homepage, nice. My favorite Doctor is Tom Baker. I met him in New Orleans in 1979 at a convention.
