That is Belushi on Drums in the second clip . Jerry Nolan played , too , at the benefit (Which lasted , what , 5 nights , right ? And there were all kinds of guests , from Divine to Glen Buxton.) , but , the first clip looks like an earlier show with Blitz on drums. Look at him at the very end. Plus , Stiv's hair is two different colors...No that he could'nt have dyed it in the middle of the engagement. Who cares? It's great Rock'n'Roll.
the Dead Boys wer essentialy a "pile-on moment" much more interesting bands were booked alongside their gig nights.....the fact of their triviality is evident in their supposed "reunion gigs" nobody cared nobody came.. The "pile-on" included Iggy himself : " they do 'Search and Destroy !" they kick my ass on that song!" Chrome and Zero wer guys "Beefed" fron Ohio steel mills Cheatah tossed guys over the Bar in CB's dust-ups...Iggy fibbed, and gay people were even stabbed by them
I was at one of these shows, with Jerry Nolan on drums (that's him in the first clip.) Stiv said "hi, we're the dead dolls." I'm pretty sure it was '77 not '78.
what happened? so much music seems lame or just a mediocre rehash? College/alternative/"Indie" music seems boring and meaningless these days. Music from the 30 or 40 years ago, like Deadboys or Yardbirds still hasn't aged, it's actually better then what's around now. I'm sick of the slick production techniques, that's not music.
@unrelatedsegments You're so right , it almost does'nt bear repeating. Younger people have EVERYTHING at their fingertips , now . As Poison Ivy once said , "There's no excuse for not having good influences".
"Where you gonna go ? Where you gonna stay? Why try to kid yourself? You'll never get away !".
Awesome! FINALLY I get to see some actual footage of this gig! I really don't get why it's so hard to find any. The Blitz benefit was a huge event in punk history. Belushi's actually not a bad drummer either. I always heard he was into punk. It was actually him who got Lee Ving from FEAR into acting after he saw the Decline.
I saw in an issue of RockScene from around this time, a photo of the band playing with Belushi and drums and Joan Jett on guitar. Perhaps it was from this show.
this clip is what makes youtube......a piece of history-Stiv with blond hair---wotta great clip! One of my alltime favorite shows was seeing the guys at Max's KC-Thanx a million for this video!!!!!!(Don't look at me that way bitch, your face is gonna get a punch---they sure don't write em like that anymore!!!)
Wow. Amazing. History caught on film. And Belushi playing drums?!!? I know he loved the Punk Rock, but it is amazing to see him onstage there with the dead boys. Again....wow. RIP STIV. RIP John....
i wish something like this happened everytime i got stabbed, i'd be like "FUCK YEA! You Got Me Good ASSHOLE! But I'm Kicking your ass Outa the show if i ever see you again!"
Holy shit, where did this come from??? This is great. I had always thought that there wasn't very much Dead Boys footage at all. Little nuggets like this are golden. Thanks alot. Absolutely awesome!!!
I love this. The official DVD is very cool, but I've seen boot vids of this band that are better, just like this 1. This is multi-camera, wonder where the original is?

Dead Boys put the Pistols to shame. There is a reason the Rock -N-Roll hall of fame is in Cleveland. Stiv was amazing.

fuck yeah sex pistols sucked. they had one shitty album and got all famous because of they way they looked and acted on tv

i'm a bit confused as that sure looked like Blitz drumming for "Meat in Your Mouth" while Belushi was drumming for the Beau Brummels cover song.

The most under rated band of all time. Never really got the recognition they deserved. Dead Boys were simply incredible. Belushi surely was a fan.

Nice clip. Dead Boys are definitely in my top ten punk rock bands of all time. Young, Loud and Snotty= best punk album ever.
I saw Belushi hanging out at a Fear show one time in like 1981... a few weeks before Fear played on SNL.
