  • @GreatWhiteHyype im talking about when the cars were first produced jackass. i am not saying ford is the better car, just that it is built faster and has many advantages over camaro amd challenger because ford kept the mustang in production due to sales, next time you.teply dont be an ignorant little fan boy, all 3 cars are badass but there can only be 1 winner and mustang happens to be it

  • Ford wins simply because they have had more time to improve the Mustang. The Mustang has been built since '64 non-stop. The Camaro was built to compete with the Mustang but ceased production in 2002 due to low sales. The Challenger was also built to compete but soon faded away. The Mustang was the role model for the other pony cars and will remain a winner and the better selling car due to it's low cost and simply being better by Ford's engineering.

  • first of the chassis, steering, and suspension is bought from Vauxhal. a 6.2 litre vs a 5.0 ,thats 1.2 litres of more engine and it only gets 14 bhp more than the mustang. thats just poor engineering.and with 14 horses less it still beats the camaro. Ford is good with cars and trucks and chevy is good at suv's. exept for the excursion thats the best suv ever.

  • These 5.0's go 10's with boltons,and cobras are good for taking off the superchareger and replacing it with turbo to get over 1000hp without touching the rotating assembly.

  • @msbaugh440 no it wouldn't..... The thing is a big ass boat that's heavier than all of the pony cars. So what if the challenger has an extra 13 horsepower than the 5.0. The extra weight that it has to lug around results in slower acceleration. I'm not just pulling this out of my ass; it's been proven.

  • @msbaugh440 and an almost $43,000 price tag for just the base model? No thank you. I'd rather pay 33k for a 5.0 and get better gas mileage than go for it. Besides, the new Boss 302 is around the same price range (but cheaper) and is still going to be faster and you don't have to pay a huge gas guzzler tax on it. I do like your 70 challenger though. It's a very nice car.

  • @bigdawg3511 yeah sure you can pay 33k for a 5.0... but that's not even including dealer markups. Everyone knows how hard it is to get one of these things for that much money. I just built a few 5.0's on Ford's website and the only way you can get one for that cheap is if you sacrificed and got cloth seats, no CD player, no audio jacks, no brembo brakes, no security package, no improved axle ratio, no exterior appearance packs, etc. BTW thanks man I love my challenger :) Its faster than all 3

  • @msbaugh440 I actually have a friend who bought one for 33.5k w/ leather, shaker 500, sync and brembos. He made out like a bandit during a holiday sale. and yeah i bet. Nothing really beats good ol' mopar.

  • @1970gtosd im in college right now, and recently got a grabber blue 2010 which all the girls love. Admittedly, I couldn't stand up in a race against any of these, but as you said before, it sounds beautiful, and looks amazing! and when i park my grabber blue mustang in front of ANY camaro, it puts it to shame. :)

  • @1970gtosd The Mustang is really the only true "Muscle Car" here if you go by the dictionary definition.. Small car with lots of power and a big engine!

    The new Mustang engine is "modern".. it has VVT on the quad-cam engine. It also revs higher than 7500 rpm! It doesn't need Cylinder Shutoff when you get 26 mpg. But if it had it, it would get over 30 mpg! And if I remember correctly, Ford built this engine with Cylinder Shutoff in mind.. so it could be on the 2012 Mustang.. ya never know.

  • @1970gtosd Oh I know all about these things, man. I'm the muscle car guy. I don't drool over Hondas and Toyotas like most of the teenagers do these days. lol I dig the big engines. But nowadays, the biggest engine you're gonna get in a production car is ~390 cubic inches. That's not a whole lot. The engine in my 74 F100 is a 390, but I've got it tuned.

    These days, you don't NEED more displacement. Compare the Mustang and Camaro. 5.0 (411hp) vs 6.2 (425hp) ... That's a huge difference/same power

Yeah, it looks cool and all... but when you compare the drive-ability to a 5.0, there isn't a comparison...

  • Mustang GT > SRT8 (I love them do death) > camaro SS (hate them with a passion) they're so overrated. Most people that like them more then mustangs haven't driven either one. I've driven both, Mustang is better IMO.

  • Basically, I'm saying that their conclusions regarding pricing on the cars is wrong. Although the Mustang has a lower base price, the factory performance options drive that up beyond the cost of a Camaro SS which you don't need to spend extra money on to gain performance. Also, many (including me) would argue that the visibility isn't nearly as bad as everyone makes it out to be and raising the driver's seat gets rid of that "small" feeling some people get.

  • Took Ford 15 years to get rid of that 4.6, you know who got them to do that? Yep, "Government Motors", even though they've paid back their entire loan WITH interest already, but yeah why not, they're still just government mules

    ...you guys are ignorent, and id still take the Camaro over the Mustang given the option cause in a drag race with 2 manual transmissions it will come down to the driver anyways, plus the LS motors are proven for amazing aftermarket, plus the Camaro looks so much better

  • @Ratmouth66 Yes, GM paid back the $ 6.7 Bil loan. Unfortunately you seem to be unaware that we the taxpayer bought 61% of GM to the tune of $52 Bil. So nearly 60 Bil total with only $6.7 Bil being considered a "loan".

    The share price of GM would have to hit historical highs to ever even think about paying us back.

    The R/T SHOULD be the model that competes with the GT and the SS .... but it is so weak, that all the testers always let the SRT8 in, but it should be:

    -R/T vs. GT vs. SS .... and .....

    -SRT8 vs. GT500 vs. Z28 (eventually Z28, they will substitute s/c'd tuner SS' till then)

  • hi, im planing to buy a stang or a challenger, i just went to a ford branch n saw th v8 gt stang, due the fact a had a horrible accident in truck and the roof pretty much saved my life i would like to know if the glassroof that gt has is good, i mean, is it safe if u have and accident? front crash, or what if the car flips upside down? could any1 give a real and sincere opinion? thanks

    The man is right the Camaro makes you feel small just overwhelms you when you sit in it and view around you is hindered by the thick pillars, he didn't even show the rear pillars the Challenger is even worse. I have them at the dealership so i know they are annoying when parking in confined spaces.

    I see those cars everyday and i'll take the Stang any day above them all, just easy to drive, easy to do everything and not to mention Ford has leaped way ahead in built quality. Like i said i see them all at work and i know what i'm talking about, never seen people get excited over the SS and Challenger just like they are going crazy over the new Stang with the 5.0 they are just crazy about it just to stay there's going to be lots of 2005-2010 Mustangs for sale soon when they trade.

  • The Mustang is so much lighter than the other two, making it more agile and a little faster. The new 5.0 is a sweet engine. The Camaro's 6.2 is very sweet also. But I still think the Camaro is the iconic legend of the muscle car era.

  • I am a mustang fan, so I will support the mustang no matter what but I have to say challenger didn't have to be that heavy I mean just because u had power it doesn't mean the car is going to be fast and I love the sound it makes. Also someone commented here this competition will bring out the best muscle of our time

  • I like all 3. True they all have good points. Ford has a better market because they continued to make them and they offer GT's at a reasonable price. Challenger and Camaro are over priced. I just went and looked at a Camaro with 15,000 miles on it for the same price as a new one with the same equip!!!! We own Chevy's but I would love to have a "69 Mustang...who wouldn't! Oh and by the way, I'm a girl, and no my Daddy didn't buy me one! If I had one it would dang sure be a V8!!!

  • The mustang has the best power to weight and a interior/trunk that is more practical then the cave camaro. The challenger is too heavy for my tastes so why does chevy go radical with every damn camaro they make. The 69 Camaro had a better layout then this new shit. I mean trunk space, interior space, visibilty.

  • @BimmerM5e39 i agree, when i sat in the camaro i wasn't a huge fan of the really high door sills and dash either, however the seats were really comfortable and those 4 gauges in the low center stack are pretty cool, i would say i'd go mustang, challenger, then camaro.... only thing bad about the challenger is the higher weight and terrible fuel economy :\

  • if your a chevy lover than this will help you feel better. this is all their opinions. i own an older camaro. because then there was nothing faster for less. now its the mustang that wins. however the overall picture suggests that it leap frogs and the camaro will take the lead again soon. be patient. until then. we lose. its ok though because if you actually drive them all you will want the challenger. the mustang is much to cold. hit a bump mid bend and it'll scare you away for good.

  • challenger is a pig and the interior is a joke so I didnt even test it. I tested the Camaro v6 and SS and I felt the exact same as the reviewers. I can't see out the car well. I'm 5'11 and dam I felt trapped and limited inside there. the transformer styling hurts visiblity. The ford...well what can you say when its better in every way. I'm now searchign for a blue one.

    The Mustang are much easier to drive, park, get to used to quick. Parallel parking in the Camaro is just hard if you're not used to it and the Challenger is worse parking a Titanic.

  • @elboo52 haha nice man! no I'm all Camaro actually, I'm purchasing a new one in January of '11. But I prefer the New camaro over new mustang, but hell yeah man I really dislike the new chargers I don't like how they look and the new engines seem cheap, but those 70's charger are straight badass!! I love it, and I'm sure your car does blow away that new mustang. Haha sewet car man, I'd take that anyday. I love those style chargers, I dislike the new ones, so keep ridin!

  • @elboo52 no offense, I love 60's-70's muscle cars but they will be left in the dust by today's naturally-aspirated muscle cars. A stock 440 R/T may be powerful off the line, but it will lose big time to a stock 2011 Mustang GT. 440 sounds great and has plenty of torque, but unless you throw a wilder cam in it, it won't compete with 12.7 quarter-mile. So don't argue! 440 in stock trim is high 13 sec.-14 sec. car.

  • obviously the mustang won, but the camaro got 2nd in all other tests over the challenger and is 10k+ more expensive than the camaro...however "they don't like the feel" of it....motor trend sucks

    Yeah next year Camaro will put on a bigger skirt (7.0L engine) to just compete against the 5.0L LOL 32 valves whooooo accelerate faster, higher top speed and more responsive engine so will kill both of the opponents on the track and the BOSS already killed the E92 M3 at Laguna Seca the so called TRACK KING BMW got killed by a live axle hahahaha.
