I have a quad core i7 Extreme edition running at 4.7GHz on an MSI Military Class motherboard with Intel chipset P57, runs Crysis 2 like a dream when in conjunction with an SSD and a dual graphics card.

@kuza261 You are an idiot. Mac do not actually "make" anything. They design their stuff and have suppliers meet their specification. Mac PCs and laptops uses intel chips so it's hard to understand how intel is beating mac when they supply apple with their CPUs.

threads are awesome it like having two extra processors my lenovo t410 has a Core i5 vPro, dual-core@ 2.9Ghz (turbo-boost enabled), it outperforms me desktop by about 2x, my desktop it an Intel Core2Quad Q6600, 4 giggs DDR2 memory, and the laptop only has 3giggs DDR3 Memory four physical cores VS two physical cores+hyper-threading, and its still faster than my desktop, fucking intel making stuff better than mac everyday

Ill take a AMD quad core black edition x4 anyday over this overpriced thing... I dont see why people buy all the hype, its well overpowered for what people use it for. Havent had a game I cant run on max settings @50+fps, and im bottlenecked by an old budget 5770 hd gfx card.

@iphonepunker cores doesn't always equal to speed, Have you seen the "leaked" benchmarks of the FX? I'm not impressed (those can be false tho) But it seems like the I7 2600k still is the fastest cpu.

@MrFpsBaby FX broke the ginus world record of any silicon chip ever. AMD builds the fastest chips in the world. Says so on a bloody platter. So no I7 is not the fastest cpu. Also you should not believe engineering sample benchmarks. Windows needs to be fixed before it can show off AMD's FX's true power or optimization software because Win 7 doesn't even know how to handle bulldozer. The OS is the bottleneck in other words.Tho in the correct setting it frags the I7 2600k. 40% handycapped by OS..

its a core i7 its probably gunna be the fastest for a while its an all new micro architecture and has 4 cores but has 8 threads so in other words its fast

@hudders123 the intel xeon x5650 has 6 cores and 12 threads and still isn't any faster than the i7 990x or i7 995x...it has to do a lot with how the chip responds to voltage and how each thread responds to multiple instructions from different applications
