  • Two singers - Steve Harley & Jon Anderson. Written by Mike Batt who was the conductor on this clip. Featured in "The hunting of the Snark" which was written by Prince Charles. This song was not included in the original soundtrack. Kenny Everett appeared in the stage production at some stage and appeared on Children in Need one year.

  • I don't know why, but my comment below is flagged as spam, probably because I had teething issues reducing the content to 500 characters or less & then posting the same thing 3 times! It is genuine. Thanks.

  • @aaddzzaamm Sorry, I haven´t seen your comment had been flagged until now. Youtube´s been annoying lately. I´ve just released your post. Thanks for posting.

  • Part of the 1988 ITV Telethon, it's an inspiring piece of music & being a big Jon Anderson fan I bought the single from HMV in Oxford Street, London & I still have it! Released under the name(s) of Anderson, Harley & Batt it had support in Battersea Park including Central Band of the Royal Air Force, Royal Choral Society & the public. It was called the Heineken/LBC Big Song. I have ripped the single to an MP3 file. I am happy to email the file free of charge.

    Jules.

  • Omg! No one can begin to imagine how happy I am to finally find this song!! When I was little, someone sang this on Children In Need, it was the very early 90's and I remember being in love with it from the moment I heard it! Ever since then its always been stuck in my head from time to time and it drove me mad I didn't know the words. I've even been trying to get my mum to remember, I did this evening lol! I am thrilled to just hear it again! I'm shaking and crying with happiness lol!!

  • thiis is a song from a badly known musical called "the hunting of the snark". it is most famously sung by the irish tenor Finbar Wright and can be found on his album of the same name. He does a great version

  • Forgive my ignorance, but did Jon write this song? Sounds like his sentiment, but it's hard to tell. I've never heard it before, and being a big fan of Jon's I'm surprised I've never heard it.

  • Well spotted, miguelbass - it is indeed Steve Harley! I seem to remember that Mike Batt (probably best known in the U.K for the Wombles) was also involved.

  • This was at battersea park, summer 1988. I was in the event which was part of the ITV telethon, the whole song was not shown tho. Ann Tily

  • it says Tottenham '88, that's all I can spot. The tune is wonderful. The other singer looks like the one who appeared on one of Rick Wakeman's Gas Tank shows. If yes, his name is Steve Harley. Thanks for sharing, my friend!

  • What was this for??? What kind of telethon - where?
