i have the 1clickroot 2.5.5 from the xda website, i also have the galaxyS drivers already installed. i click the run.bat and it goes though and says "phone not connected" ive tryed unpluging the cable, also tryed restarting the phone, tryed restarting the computer, ive even tryed doing it with usb debug turned off.

ive knotised when usb debug is off it asks me if i want to charge, mass storage or teather... when its on it dosnt ask me...

ive been searching for hours to no avail.. plz help..

@randyshear Randy - Great vids - I really dig 'em - I am using 64-bit XP and Win 7 and am getting a phone not connected error when I use the CWM3 one click - My phone is set to USB debugging, and shows that it is connected on the phone, but when I look at the driver install status screen, it shows that it is not installing the CDC Abstract Control Module (ACM) - and I think that may be the issue - is there any way that you can either post or email out the actual USB drivers you are using? -Thx!

Thanks for all the videos because I am a visual learner. I have used the DK28 Odin and One Click Root Exploit v2.5.5 and have flashed the phone with ViperRom Apocalypse 4.0.2c all for the first time and I can say thanx to you everything is working fantastic..luving it..thanx for the videos. Randy I want to thank you for you online videos. I am getting pretty good at my epic 4g. I have a fix for the ones that hang up on the "Samsung opening screen with the one click root. before you reboot the epic 4g have the zip file loaded on the phone in the sd card for the rom you want and before you reboot the phone install the rom of your choice then let the phone reboot. I'm overly frustrated right now.

I downloaded the Odin file mounted my phone went into recovery mode....No Odin.

I'm close to making a video of myself destroying this phone and sending it to Samsung. I just want 2.2......I use flash on my Phone......So I need 2.2.....I paid extra money for what i thought was a better phone but that lesser phone already has 2.2 and I'd like to take a baseball bat to this 2.1 BS 4 friggin months I've been waiting for 2.2.

Having done many roms with my moment, all the odin and such felt a bit scary, you nice simple instructions made things MUCH easier to understand.

Randy. I just got my Epic 4g. I can follow everything until trying to boot into Clockwork Mod. The phone just keeps going back to the blue menu.

Is there something that this video isnt describing that needs to be done?

I found out what happened. The 1 Click root that i downloaded was not complete. Luckily it didn't screw anything up. Now i am up on the Afterlife 4.01 Heaven release. Very good.

@phdacademy Yes it is. Just download the one click root exploit and run it. Be sure to put your phone in debugging mode 1st, and install your USB drivers.

Hey Randy I just wanted to say I really enjoyed the video and this shows just how easy it is to root the Epic. I rooted my Moto Droid back when that first came out and this is a lil bit different but same overall principle. Thanks to this video I'll know what I'm doin come next month when I get my new Epic 4g hehe :D

@randyshear I used one-click root. I then proceeded to use an app that requires root access, and it told me that it couldn't get root access. Also, how can I tell if my phone is rooted or not so I can know if it's just an error with the app of the one-click root actually didn't work.

@RasmaRecordings You need to find out if your operating system on your PC is 32 bit, or 64 bit. Then install the appropriate driver. Look up your PCs model # on Google, and you'll get the specs.. That's it!

i can get the rom running smoothly

i apply the lag fix and get a score of around 1800

but when i try to restore my apps (via titanium backup it never works) and apps either fail to restore or they have issues.

when i try to recover my files from nandroid the lag fix is removed.. =/

What am i missing ...

@sockaplaya I don't recommend titanium.. Lots of problems restoring with it. I use ASTRO file manager, and have had no issues at all.. When you restore with CWM you will need to install the VIPERspeed.apk

@jadavila2009 Did you install the one click root exploit 1st? If so, then hold power, camera, and Vol down buttons AFTER powering off, and hold them until the green screen appears.

@jadavila2009 NEVER extract the ROM. Copy the compressed file to your SD card root. You must not have CLW installed.. You have to use one click root exploit to use CWM. Your phone MUST be rooted. Otherwise, IDK??

@aeudy201 You click on it, and extract all files. Then you should have odin, modem, and pit. .RAR is a compressed file. WinRAR will extract it.

another thing ... i can live with the viper rom but is there a way to change the notification sounds ... it plays disturbed over my ringtone for texts and idk how to change it ...

@sockaplaya You shouldn't need to downgrade, but you will need to restore everything since you have to wipe / reset. As for notification sounds, go to settings, sound, and notification. You can also go to each email account and click the menue button, then more, then account settings, then ringtone. Hope that helps.

@sockaplaya Unfortunately you MUST have all the crappy sprintware installed in order to get OTA updates. But the new VIPERrom 3.0 is out, which is the full, real, final release 2.2 so just download 3.0, flash it, and DONE! He is working on more ROMs and my 2.2 VIPERrom 3.0 with nothing extra is pulling 13.9 MFLOPS and 2100+ quadrant scores.. She's fast!
