Excavations at Tel Rehov by Amihai Mazar in 2003 found Olive pits in the Shishak destruction that firmly dated the destruction to 925 BC and were found amidst pottery that matched the Gate's construction strata at Megiddo. Mazar's 925 BCE holdout is charming but the actual sample points to 871 BCE for the highest probable date per the new RC14 method for Shishak's invasion. 871 BCE is based on a large cereal sample found. Mazar's position on that sample was that 925 was close enough to the upper range (918) to justify 925 BCE are credible. Problem is all this will completely depend upon

Go and read: Silbeman/ Finkelstein, 2001: The Bible Unearthed and be amazed by how many mythological stories there really are in the Old Testament.
