Happy to hear you say what you did about mainstream Linux distros. Now if they'd get less attention on the show...

Let's face it, openSUSE, Fedora, and Ubuntu are testing grounds for other, larger projects. They rush out releases using the newest versions of software and do nothing but solidify the belief that Linux is not ready for the desktop. Then you have Slackware and RHEL. These are well tested, tried and true, and choose stability over bleeding edge. This is the way.

@asininegenius The corporate distros promote themselves as a viable alternative to Microsoft and turn unknowing users into unwilling beta testers. The only corporation producing an acceptable Linux desktop is Red Hat.

Do a review of Salix OS! I know the current release is a bit dated by now, but who cares? It stomps all of the major distros.

My first Linux experience was with Slackware 3.6 back in 98. This had me sold, and I am still a huge fan. Give the people what they want...stability.

Nice for picking Qtractor but you should mention that you cant even use it in Ubuntu 11.10 as JACK completely fails. I have it installed but I cant try it out! :/

ButterFS, same with SSD's "optimsation" for windows 7, i still don't see what the hype is worth, the only thing they do good is if you only hybernate or never turn off your machine refresh from sleep mode is instant, everything else is just a slight improvement

BeagleBone boots in 10 seconds not 89. It sells for 89. Wow, booting in 89 seconds would be such crap. We use embedded Debian on ARM9 and have them boot, load an SQL server and a web server ready to work in less then 7 seconds.
