Wow, this Agenda 21 totalitarian control-freak's wet dream come true,nanny-state technocrats get to control and monitor the plebs 24/7 with mark of the beast RFID microchips implanted in everyone's hand, telescreens that bark orders in every home, think of it as 1984 meets Brave New World meets Demolition Man. Will those who do not conform be cast out in this detached, subdivided mass-production zone and be forced to reside underground eating ratburgers as the Denis Leary charcater in the movie?
well,it doesn't look at futuristic..the high rise buildings are block type generic shaped, and obviously -there's no "skytrain",as you can tell from the video, cars are still on the roads.. so this developent isnt truely "futuristic...
@masonkim7 hype or no hype, when this is finished it will officially be the most technologically advanced city in the world. Plans are already underway to take develop places like this in other countries ie the sewage system may be implicated in London and America will be taken ideas from it.
Actually the chinese government has been fightin Muslim terrorists in Xinjiang for decades. The fight against Islamic terrorists is a world wide struggle, open your eyes.

@FanOfYunaKim Its probably because when you see a bad idea with a lack of street interaction for the pedestrian you feel obligated to say something. Canal and Casbah both have the right idea, they understand scale, proximity and density, i think. However, everywhere else looks like failed corbu inspired projects fragmented by grass lands, which designers continually refuse to give up. I hope they have great infrastructure for public transportation otherwise, FAIL.
Unlike Dubai, China and Korea actually has enough demand for these projects and they're both running out of space while one being a first world nation and the other being the fastest growing nation.
just saw this on tv...and as a civil and arch student and a big fan of computers!!! i have to say this city is amazing!!!!

that golf course is just too big.
great another sure to be overpriced, superficial, shallow city.
'modeling itself after Manhattan' ?? hahahaha. ninja please.
but I do agree that it should be made.
living in Seoul is just SOOO crowded and congested, I'm sure this city will alleviate some of the pressure from Seoul.

Yuck. I'm asian but I hate a city made of very cold, generic corporate style buildings. I like Europe style architecture much better.

Amazing portions of Songdo IBD are nearing completion in 2009, but much more is planned. It's a huge project that will take years to unfold.
