@pbsoko you dont want to carry the 522 hiking at least not the heavy barrel. With a decent scope (instead of "tactical" garbage) it starts to get heavy. if i wanted a 22 specifically for camping id get a 10/22 and put an ultralight barrel on it
The sig hate federal bulk rounds where the mp chew it up spits them out sig jam alot to junk it as realizable as a 10/22 marlin 60 and an mp fun all day long
Own them both mp 15-22 is a family favorite selling the 522 everyone in the family love shooting the mp every one that shoots the sig feel they getting the hand me down so I trading for another mp to date the mp still the best
Hi! I'm a "New York Jew" but I think you guys rock. Also great choice with Dethklok. I'd love to go shooting with you guys if I lived closer.
Getting my SIG 522 on Jan 2nd. Unfortunately, I'm in CA (Bay Area) ATM so it's a bit gimped. Realize that if you buy in CA it will have a welded on flash hider and 10rnd mags. However, the new 522's SIG SAUER USA is a shipping COME with the foregrip rail kit (if non-RIS version) and iron sights free!
I've got the Sig 522 with a primary arms multi reticle red dot on it. Easily my favorite toy to take to the range. It's flawless and deadnutz accurate. The M&P 15-22 was to airsoft like for me, the Sig is much more solid. I'll put my Sig up against any 15-22 shot for shot and see which malfunctions first. Any brand ammo, doesn't matter.
i have the exzact same grip u have on the m and p :D i feel accomplished
(mines all OD green, grip, bipod, and a 6x zoom scope that changes crosshair color and has a lazer) i feel accomplished. oh and i have 2 mags if that matters
I don't have any experience with the Sig 522 but they do make fine handguns. In my opinion if you are buying one of these as a training weapon so that you can cut down on ammo expenses, and you run an AR15 as your primary weapon, then get the M&P 15-22... the battery of arms is exactly the same as an AR! Remember to train like you fight!

FWIW - I had an opportunity to shoot the S&W M&P 15-22 for the first time a few days ago. Had a basic 1x crosshair scope on it. You could not miss with it - one of the most enjoyable rifles I've ever encountered, and easily the most entertaining.
@surf403 - No, I wouldn't say that. The comment "Kimber 45, bitches" made me laugh - the accent was the icing on the cake and I'd love to go shooting with these guys.
@centurionsquad Yea I Know Right! sounds overly expensive! I Live In The Bahamas, Nassau To Be exact. The Customs On Items from the States are Crazy From 50%- 80% Duty on most Items around here. But How I live Here it's Common Place so I don't Hurt My head Over It if its something I really Want
@centurionsquad Yea I Know Right! sounds overly expensive! I Live In The Bahamas, Nassau To Be exact. The Customs On Items from the States are Crazy From 50%- 80% Duty on most Items around here. The RimFire Rifles are abit expensive over all But I got The AirSoft Smith & Wesson M&P-15 Customized with the Works So that added abit to it. But How I live Here it's Common Place so I don't Hurt My head Over It if its something I really Want
I chose My Sig522 SWAT addition over The M&P 15-22 personally because it has afew more quality over the M&P and it had a more Modern look and feel to it . I also Play Airsoft so I added the M&P Airsoft Costumed Magpul edition To My collection. My Sig522 Swat 22LR ran me into $1,600 and My Airsoft M&P was $450 :) I use Both equally, My Sig522 On the Range & My M&P Airsoft unit on the airsoft field every week so I'm enjoying the best of both worlds :)
I think, like most AR15's, the M&P 15-22 could use a trigger upgrade. I love my M&P15-22 and would purchase this gun again over the other available options. However, I know that Sig Sauer is an amazing company and that the Sig 522 would be a truly great gun to own...you can not go wrong with either
@mhayd990 travis and chris, peter and paul, simon and garfunkel, hall & oates!!! Who cares?! I know who dem Magpul guys are I just not in love with them like ya'll are! HAHAHA
@JohnFromSpace I would bet the base version of the Sig522 would come down in price after a few months. Based on the amount that Smith and Wesson sold as they reduced the price near $400 and below
If the Sig 522 dropped to around $480 out the door I would definately buy one. For $580 out the door that it goes for here thats a bit too much for me.
I'm probably gonna pick up conversion kit unfortunately. I'd like to be able to save up a few hundred more to get a dedicated. I'm thinking the dedicated are more reliable than the conversions I imagine. You ever compare the two options?
what type of optic you got on the smith and wesson?

What is the weight difference between the two models; when hiking for hours a pound difference can make a difference.
