2) You have blocked a publisher of one of the controls.

This didn't work for me but I have another solution:

Go to your control panel via the start menu and then settings. Click on the add & remove program icon. Scroll down to the Apple Mobile Device Support and then click change. A menu boc will pop up with two options either remove or repair. Click repair. iTunes then recognised my iPod Touch. Goo Luck!
