not working for me.. mine ends up being able to push any button and the door will open or close. just push 1. itll open.. then push 6 itll close.. i dont get it

Dude - our wireless pad hadn't worked since we installed it 6 years ago so this morning I tried your steps and it worked! THANKS! The manual was giving us a wrong code to erase and set the new one.

That's because Genie sucks. Ever since they were bought out by Overhead Door in 94, their products have been crap. If/when you need a new opener, I would recommend LiftMaster.

dandogg, you are absolutely correct.  my mouth was ahead of my brain. You push Prog, 6, and the up/down arrow. I don't know why I said "3". You don't push the "3" in that sequence.
