So, it's natural to choose a caucasian kid so white folk can relate better. Just like Power Rangers in Asia are all Asian and in the West they're all Westerners with a token black guy. But still, the white kid just didn't fit into the "Journey to the West" story line and the movie was too smooth and unbelievable, sorry.

@thatsmyfreakencar This fight may not be that fast, but first of all, this film intended to portray Jackie as more of an older, weathered master of martial arts. Also, it's quite clear that Jackie is drunk and one step away from passing out in this scene. I personally like that the techniques Jackie uses in this fight are simple yet effective. If three people are coming at you with swords, grabbing them, using them as shields and maneuvering seems like the best way to defend yourself.

You know what I loved the most about this movie? The role reversals in regards to Jackie Chan. As a young man, Jackie Chan often played the role of the rebellous youth who was trained in a very grueling manner by an (usually old) instructor. In this case, he IS the alcoholic beggar Su that he played by in Drunken master and he's the one who's beating up on the younger actors! :D
