  • michael moore is the biggest dumbass. i mean i am against the copyright laws, but at least i've thought my position through..

  • @dhl1986 apparently you do, otherwise you wouldn't be watching him :P

  • @dhl1986 apparently you do, otherwise you wouldn't be watching him :P

  • well said

  • His movies aren't worth pirating anyways

  • man if i made a film i wouldnt mind if ppl downloaded my movie to watch it for its entertainment value, isnt that what film makers want in the first place? to make an enjoyable product?

  • MAN THE HARPOONS

  • And he is NOT the richest man in movie industry by a long shot. If he has enough money to be ok with downloading then all those hot shot hollywood MF's and millionaire recording artists should just shut the fuck up about file sharing

  • the average comment on this video is probably from a some super conservative dumbass who doesnt know anything. he said it himself, he is well off. obviously that means he makes enough money from people buying it for him to live pretty nicely, just like every other actor. so just shut up and take a fucking hint that P2P and torrents are here to stay, which you may agree with, in that case, stop bitching because it is michael moore.

  • Finally something i agree with michael more on...

  • i do. a lot of people do. apparently, you don't.

  • Amen

  • Who doesn't like the idea of watching their favorite tv shows, movies, or whatever for free online? I've watched a few series myself and such, but I really have to wonder, is this too much? Sharing a video with someone who lives next to you is one thing, but in theory, one person could buy a movie, share it online, and millions could watch it: when using real life limitations it'd be more reasonable, like 15 people. If I like a show, I want the creators to get paid for it, so why cheat them?

  • That you call it 'cheating' already shows your bias on the topic. Fact is, you get to watch free tv anytime you want and the ad revenues sort out the recompense for the creators.

If I download shows or movies to see what they are like, and i really didn't rate them that much, I delete them and forget them (not leave them gathering dust on a shelf or trying to sell them on to some other deluded fool). If I LIKE em, I go out and buy the boxed set, director's cut, spec ed. Oh, and tell my friends.

  • micheal moore downloaded his own movie off pirate bay

  • i like him

  • smart man

  • as much as i hate this fat fucker... he said some good shit there.

  • lol why do you hate him?

  • Filesharing =/= piracy.

    Piracy = YARRRRRR

  • he makes a good point.

  • (in addition to what i was saying) and besides a movie that would be worth the risk of dling illegally would have had made well over several million dollars of what it cost to make it

  • Just to add to my previous msg...

I disagree with more on many things (mostly on how he distorts some things in his documentaries and doesn't treat both sides of a question in the same way, usually by withholding information), but this is one of those things that I must agree with.

  • There's actually evidence that people who download things from the net illegally (legal in some countries) also spend more money on movies, music etc.

  • You missed the half where he says he would not be ok with someone profiting off of his work, not to mention a definite article. He doesn't agree with the copyright laws, not copyright laws in general. As he shouldn't.

  • Bill Clinton signed the DMCA in 98. Now, you can't even own things you buy. I could purchase a movie- but only be allowed to play it on certain operating systems. This policy is illegal in some countries and should be contrary to our Fair-Use Policy. Too bad the demes lack lobbyists.

  • What OSes? If you are talking about Linux, then you would need a licensed decryption module to be able to officially playback DVDs. That's something I don't like.

  • but that is a problem.. people would download a move and not profiting for it.. but will this actually decrease the profit of the maker for that movie? a person could video tape a movew at the opening day and share the file on internet for free.. he is not making a profit.. but he is hurting the movie maker is he??? doesn't that make it wrong???? or am I wrong on this?

  • Your right, that would decrease profits, but that does not necessarily mean the government should protect them. Imagine a world where file sharing technology was around before movies. Would the people of that world expect the government to step in and start regulating file shares so that someone can make a profit? The free market will decide if how much a movie is worth, new technologies should not be regulated out simply because they hurt business.

  • are you against video taping movies at a movie theaters? I think that you are right The market should decide, but if someone actually tape the movie from the theater and share it,it is wrong. Also, the market should decided, but there is a problem with that! Let say the music martke in Asia, becuase people are downloading song off the net for free and putting a lot of companies and singers out of business. as long as thing can be avaialbe for free. people won't pay. How can we fix this problem?

  • I think specifically taping at theaters is not alright because that is private property and they have the right to not allow cameras in. They shouldn't, however, have a say with what happens with my computer. It is also illegal to show a movie on certain size screens or to too many people. These technologies do in fact hurt movie maker's profits. People thought radio was going to end the music industry, who knows it could have. Laws should not be made only to save profits.

  • That is to say movie sharing must be shown intrinsically wrong. It may cause a radical shift in the Music and movie industry to only advertisements, amatures, and patronage. But unless there exists a moral argument against it, that is the only right thing to do.

On a side note it is almost surprising to see someone polite on the internet in the midst of a disagreement.

I am otherwise a raving capitalist and I find many of the people who would normally agree with me disagree on this point.

  • well, it is very interesting to see this point of view. never though about this issue on the other side! I guess we learn new things everyday!but I still think that there should be some kind of control on sharing through the net, it is taking the profit from the poeple who deserce them! It is their job! if you are going to enjoy their work, we should pay. Also this is not only for them, this is going to take away the incentive to make movies/songs.That me less good moves/songs for us end users

  • You are wrong on this one people who download the movie are usually people who either wouldnt have gone to see the movie in the first place because its so fucking expensive for people who are to poor to even afford a ticket for themselves i think that Hollywood got greedy ticket prices are almost ten dollars were i live and thats at the cheap theater next to my house its not even a harkins or amc

  • That's not the point. The point is that sharing is not wrong, regardless of movie theaters or whatever.

  • Right on!
