Killing death, taking its scythe, chasing your wife into hell, battling the billions of demons inhabiting it, defeating the devil himself, redeaming yourself by releasing the souls of the damned that you encountered along your journey, ascending to heaven with the spirit of your wife and living in paradise for eternity. Damn, that's quite a badass story. Thank you, Dante Alighieri, for this amazing piece of literature. And thank you, Visceral Games, for this amazing gaming experience.

I gotta say, even though a lot of people bash the gameplay, I think it did a really good job at translating the original story into some, well, "watchable" than just Dante going on a road tour through hell. Especially the concept that hell is "your inferno, not theirs" i found really added to the story, and the final "twist", even if predictable, i think elevated the story above a simple "smack bad guys to get ma piece of ass back!" to him in truth trying to save himself.Thumbs up to those guys!

@DarkTider exactly.... he was earning his redemption. Redeeming himself for heaven. beautiful song... this song sets the mood that all his fighting is finally over and now he gets to lay his down and rest finally. Dante's inferno is great. i beat it atleast 8 times

Its kind of ironic really, this is one of the most brutal, discussing, violent game and yet it still has a happy ending. (also the game does not end in heaven, it ends in purgatory)

@sangbum60090 Well I have to admit that it would be a much harder game then Dante's Inferno. After all, there, you do have to face the seven deadly sins, but you don't have Death's scythe. AND THERE'S NO VIRGIL

This was one of my favorite games of this year, I'm a PS3 fanboy and I even liked it as much as God of War III. And the ending was really touching, definitely the best I've seen in a hack'n'slash game.  Best of all, Visceral is hiring new staff members for Dante's Purgatorio!

I must admit the ending to this game was awesome. I personally loved the game and found it very fun. There was a message of sacrifice, sin, and self-forgiveness in this game and I found that to be a very good story for this game based off an incredible work of literature.

@Foobyking9000 Purgatory is where those who committed sins go if they repent to God and pray for forgiveness in their final moments on Earth. It's where they have a chance to atone for and purge their sins. Heaven is where souls who did good all their life go to and enjoy eternal peace.

He was at Mount Purgatorio, the "waiting room" for heaven. It's where you wait and when they choose you, if you have any taint of sin, they cleanse your soul and bring you to Heaven, or Paradiso.
